Following our slow start to the season things are finally beginning to look rosey here at London City FC. The FA Cup is underway now as we have eased ourselves into the First Round whilst trying to get back to last seasons Third Round. With the FA Trophy due to start next month our calendar would get a lot busier, but we had to play it one month at a time. Five games throughout November, could our good form continue.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/avHIYmirbix8sxiP0vBo9Zeypy2CNfKnxKsZTWCV.png

Five games, three wins, one draw and one defeat this month and the defeat was in the FA Cup annoyingly. We began strongly in the league, beating FC Halifax three nil, our first of three clean sheets in five matches. Our only defeat of the month saw us lose to Forest Green two nil in the FA Cup First Round. Back to league action we drew two a piece with York, coming back from two down as Cheema netted two in two minutes. Our second trip to Forest Green this month saw us reverse the scoreline and beat them two nil this time before beating Gateshead at home to end November.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/yu5LOtTRq5hdgaqcKVmfFBHyQyD6jLhuhEBETcWS.png

We're top of the league and now a point clear of Tranmere who have jumped up the table over the last month with a couple good results. Still only five points inside the playoffs as it remains very close over the top half of the table. Just ten points separate the top nine teams and with twenty six games to go this season, theres plenty of highs and lows to go yet.

Another year is about to slip away into the past on this Football Manager journey as we play through December 2023. Following our somewhat poor and annoying defeat and exit in the FA Cup last month against fellow league side Forest Green it was time to begin our FA Trophy run for the year, I was hoping we could repeat the success of two years ago with a good draw or two. We also had to continue fighting hard in the league even though we have gone top of the pile.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KVaFtsTcQSfMWYcgom4ybhftXNbtiSad35dYfwfQ.png

A huge month for us saw us face eight games in twenty eight days, busy indeed but we remained strong throughout these as we went on to win five of them, draw one and lost just twice. One of those defeats came on the first game of December when we lost one nil to Morecambe. Back to home we beat AFC Telford three one before beating Stockport at home two nil. The FA Trophy gave us a favorable draw against South side Folkestone who we drew to in the first game but at home dispatched them three one. Another league defeat, this time to Tranmere who really are becoming our bogey side. Ending the calendar year with back to back home games and wins, first beating Southport one nil and then Dulwich Hamlet two one.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/zidWs5f3Lrn4qCe6FKb4c5n110l6yPyDacWWQyg6.png

This now sees us move four points clear at the top of the table as we move into 2024 which could be a successful year for us. We obviously still have a lot of football to play, twenty matches in fact, but if we keep up the current form and run we're in then I don't see why we can't go on and win the title and promotion, fourth time of asking. I'm hunting for a second FA Trophy as well.

Happy new Year! And I have a feeling this year is going to be a stronger year for us Our form was brilliant at the moment with us losing just three games in the last two months, one of those in the FA Cup too. We head into January top of the table and with twenty games to go still we had to try and keep our composure over the next couple of months.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/2Qj6zlXdJepqaYTjstSjHkt4hMjNxJrPcdfBA2xl.png

A good New Years day for us saw us travel to Boston United and bring back all three points in a strong three one win. Bridge netted a penalty before Cheema netted shortly after, Hedges added our third late on. A second away trip on the bounce as we went to AFC Fylde and lost out, our only defeat this month one nil. Three home games in a row, firstly beating Dag & Red two nil, then welcoming Kidderminster twice in a week, first one in the FA Trophy second round with us coming away three one winners before beating them two nil a week later in the cup.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/I1mTmJvBd9B20E8ilRFWOCB6eVaf12vtCVrH3KMH.png

We've extended our lead at the top of the pile once again, we now move five points clear of the chasing pack and making a name for ourselves as real promotion contenders this year around. We're also eleven points inside the playoffs now so we should at least be in them for a third season running unless we mess it up real bad!

Into February with our form looking better than its ever been in this division to date, we're top of the table and last two months we've opened a wider gap on the chasing pack. If we keep that up the season will be over soon and the title will be ours. We're also looking to reclaim the FA Trophy after winning it a couple years ago. Another six matches await us in February.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/GktJYX7ac1HDd2h8XYUJKIOJ7pSsHKarqQkrEtgd.png

A trip to Wrexham awaited us to kickstart the month but it wasn't to be three points for us, we came away with just a single point. Back at home we lost against Harrogate three one, probably one of our worst performances to date this season. A home game against Enfield Town in the FA Trophy saw us ease into the Fourth Round in a one nil win before we had a one all draw with Maidstone. The month ended four games unbeaten as we traveled to FC United and one three one, Hedges superbly netting a hatrick then beating ALdershot three nil, another brace for Hedges our man in form this year.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6N95RxYgXrlX8PzxrNyiHD9w6ukiEi4ufSSPHuQ4.png

And we've opened the gap up even more, now three months running where we've increased the gap on the chasing pack as we move seven points clear of second place side AFC Fylde. And its close in the remaining of the chasing pack as just five points seperate second place to tenth place Stockport who will believe they are still in the running for a playoff spot come the end of the season. Eleven league games to go this season, can we maintain our title hunt...

London City FC - March 2024

We had now made it three months in a row where we have increased our points gap over the rest of the pack. This saw us go into March with a seven point gap There is stil two months of football to go though and as we continue our run in the FA Trophy trying to regain it for the second time in three years. Another eight games awaited us in March across the two competitions we remained in, we also had our youth intake.

http://i.imgur.com/a66IuKN.png

As normal I can't see any of these making the cut, once again they'll all sign a one year youth contract and after that I expect they'll all be released as I realise they all are completely rubbish.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bM37UMTAP8azhcLcYKBYt98SKOefFVQeymfxarWO.png

An eight game month and once again it featured more green dots than red and orange ones as we won five of our eight matches in March. It began with a trip to FC United in the FA Trophy fourth round and we comfortably beat them here, coming out four nil winners, Browne netting a brace. Back to league action saw us slip up at home against playoff chasers Crawley, losing three one before we welcomed Bristol Rovers four days later and beat the four two. The FA Trophy Semi Final drew us against Maidstone and saw us win one nil away from home, Bennett netting after seventy five minutes. But again as we returned to league football from the FA Trophy we lost, losing three one to Newport Co is a big blow for us. The Second Leg of the FA Trophy Semi Final saw us beat Maidstone three two at home as Brown netted another brace, this one three minutes apart to see us reach the Final. The month ended with four points from two games, as we only scored two, both from Ashby as we beat Nuneaton at home one nil and drew with York away one all.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/IXrZGAMRRCculJi5NgLw4HYr3aCuvdDDrmqbksXM.png

Our lead at the top of the table has been cut from seven points at the start of March to just a single point at the end of March but I'm not too concerned. Only nine points seperate the top seven teams now as it truly is a tight title race and I'm hoping we can come out on top simply because we have a good run of fixtures for the final month, seeing us play just one side in the top ten currently, our final fixtures see us face: Forest Green (21st), Gateshead (11th), FC Halifax (14th), AFC Teflrod (23rd), Morecambe (24th), Stockport (6th).

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/OVdoPG2cv9P8ylIjie8stz0l0UIcX0fZ5N97AH0L.png

And one more piece of news, that game against Forest Green to kick off April will be my four hundredth match as a football manager and in charge of London City FC. A little annoying I'm taking that milestone whilst still being in non league football, but its all part of the management game.

It'd be 'fitting' to do it this year around @Sean_ as we spent four seasons in the bottom tier and this is our fourth season here, but we've been close every season.

Here we go then, the final month of the 2023/2024 football season and we are top of the table, we've been there for four months now without letting it slip but going into the final six games of the season we had to remain strong, we had perhaps the easiest set of fixtures for the final month that we've had in a while so honestly can't see us blowing it this time around. We also had the FA Trophy Final to look forward to.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/HSu6P0UvhXCp5lUpUvfKaqcIpjsN9ygYpCT8rBhL.png

And four wins along with two defeats would be how we end the season, ending it on a league defeat as well. It looked rosey to start with celebrating my four hundredth game in charge with a two one victory over Forest Green. Cathline and an own goal had us two up at the break, luckily we held on after conceding. A trip to Gateshead followed with Pooni netting eighteen minute from time to seal all three point. FC Halifax were the first team to beat us in April as they won three nil at home. A third away trip on the bounce aw AFC Telford welcome up, Hedges netting in the second half sealed a one nil win. Morecambe, struggling at the bottom this season, lost out heavily to u, we won five one as all five of our goals came in the opening seventeen minutes with five different scorers. The month ended away at Stockport, losing two nil, but was that enough for the title, fourth time around...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/sgDxYXab1kLVyjSlzeaOGT55iDvVtYA5mOZVCoZA.png

Yes! It was! We have been crowned Vanarama National League champions upon our fourth time of asking as we clinched the league title by six points in the end. AFC Fylde finished second with Stockport climbing to third on the final day, Wrexham and Harrogate all secured playoff spots. And it proved to be Stockport who would win promotion via the playoffs, entering them on the final day after beating us they fought their way to promotion and will join us in League Two next season. Forest Green go down on goal difference and are also joined by Southport, Nuneaton and Morecambe in relegation this year.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Son5AVmD8uXiLgVKJVctbjeyS4Et6rpAApkmUder.png

Sam Hedges, who joined us in the summer took over Hassall's role up front and fired us to glory, he went on to be named player of the season for the Vanarama National League. He supplied the most assists in the league this season and also finished second in the top scorers charts so had a very good season, netting thirty goals. I was also named manager of the year.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bWddrCPhC2w8tMxB08HFfbkAfNAMAVJWoFzlAxP8.png

And come the end of May things had got even better, we were crowned 'double champion' this season as we scooped for the FA Trophy for the second time in three seasons. We beat Tranmere one nil in the FA Trophy Final, they have seemed to be our bogey side over the years, beating them just three times in ten meetings but we secured this win here. Dominated the game and it was that man Sam Hedges with the only goal of the game after ten minutes to secure the trophy.

London City FC - Pre Season Round Up 2024

Double winners in the end last season as we were crowned Vanarama National League Champions by six points in the end and went on to claim our second FA Trophy in three seasons. It proved to be a pretty good season and that finally meant we were heading to the footballing league, League Two awaited us. I knew this summer would be tricky, but not quite as tricky as it was. Three new kits once again to bring in some extra money.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/31eTvbv96aWsE6ntjdylYGB0z3LYJeKuTu88OtKx.png

The biggest summer we've had news wise and its come at a good time. Firstly the board have decided to expand the stadium again, adding another one and a half thousand seats to the stadium which will now hold up to five thousand five hundred and full capacity. This has come at a cost though as the board have been forced to take out a bank loan to cover the cost. Secondly the board have finally agreed to go professional, the transition goes over a year but for contracts etc we're there now. Which saw me get offered my longest deal yet, I've signed a three year extension so all being well I'll be here until 2027 earliest.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/3n45BzJSdnjVqy75b8syuFuZohvGZ4337SvsL8j9.png

Due to everyone going onto permanent deals I've failed to sign anyone this summer as we're over spending on our wage budget by almost ten thousand pounds per week and I'm struggling to reduce that at the moment. So our first squad to face real 'league' football will be that of last season, I'm just hoping we have enough to do what it takes and stay up. The good thing is there are only two relegation spots.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/pcJZmhvrdhqtzvg4aVKYmMxbrHCNRx4A96l8cfMK.png

A strong summer on the pitch which shows we don't need to constantly swap and change the players, hopefully the team we've got already have that bond for us to be able to cope with the division and survive in League Two. Time will tell.

Congratulations on the promotion mate, and another win in the FA Trophy - happy days. Some club improvements too which is great and of course the professional status. Overspending by 10k a week doesn't sound too good haha, but I'm sure you'll be able to sort that out at the end of your first season in League 2. It's funny recognizing a few players here and there on your team, Rugare Musendo has been a midfielder who always pops up on my saves, good player. Also Josh Street, did he used to play for Eastbourne Borough by any chance? Connor Dymond, another solid player who has done well for me in the past

Good luck for the season ahead, my predictions are mid table around 14th-12th place.

Once again thank you @DoyleeUK its superb to be into the 'footballing league' and now we can begin to make a name for ourselves. I was pleased to take the FA Trophy up with us and the improvements the board have made this summer will only help the club grow. As for the wages it'd always be a struggle first season with everyone going onto 'professional contracts' but I'm hoping next season we can address that. Josh Street was indeed a former Eastbourne Borough save, been with us since season two and Connor Dymond has been very good for us. If we can match your predictions this season I'd be very happy, I'm just aiming for survival.

Thanks @Victor Hugo Gamba its been a long time coming but we're finally playing professional and league football.

Finally we enter the 'football league' and our journey in the Skybet leagues begin here. A tough summer for us not being able to strengthen the squad throughout the transfer window could prove to cost us, but I was willing to see if these lads could do it on the pitch again this year around. The board had done their job, pushing the club forward with us going professional and the stadium upgrade, it was time to kick off season nine.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6WP8oktewLty8DbsizBBgcRNVOFkqdEkGoDK0AMk.png

Well I suppose that sort of form was expecting to kick off our first professional season but it turned around come the end. Life in League Two began with a trip to Accrington and we didn't even put up a fight, losing out three nil. It was the same story against Championship side Brighton, who knocked us out in our first ever appearance in the EFL Cup, First Round. Back to league football and a third defeat on the bounce as Cambridge beat us at home two nil, this season was proving to be difficult, three games played, no goals score. A slight turning point came as we battled against Eastleigh, still losing out those as they won four two, Hedges and Hassall netting our goals. But then a couple wins came to end the month positively. First we welcomed Port Vale and beat them two one, our goals from Ashby and Cathline before we traveled to the then league leaders Barrow and beat them by the same scoreline and strangely Ashby netted in the same minute as the game before, Hedges with our second.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0jQOVqPPLBfNF0K1fnedxFmGavSdbZPHI9VEgDei.png

So a slow yet progressive start in the league doesn't see us bottom after month one, nor does it see us in the relegation zone. Infact six points from our opening five games sees us sit up in seventeenth position early on and sees us clear of the two drop places by five and six points as Grimsby have started slowly and Blackpool haven't picked up a single point yet. A long way to go but a promising turn around come the end of the month.

Into September and following a good turn of form come the end of the month I was hopeful that we could begin to get a run together and move ourselves away from the relegation zone early on just incase we do get caught up later on in the season. Following our exit of the EFL Cup last month, we'd now start our Checkatrade run this month.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/l9whJyuBsmxK9wS7Eh6Aq3PPevM7cKjLgkKdAPwH.png

September saw us win three games, lose one and draw one as things looked much better for us. A home win against League One side Coventry in the Checkatrade Trophy group stage saw us triumph two one. Staying at home we welcomed Fleetwood who we beat four one and more astonishing, Hedges netted all four for us. A trip to Carlisle saw us narrowly lose out three two. Returning home we welcomed fellow promoters from last season Stockport and beat them one nil before a trip to Barnet saw us draw two a piece, losing two points late on following a Browne brace.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/jQdpoE8U0nQ6Tzk5E9tmzoopfbn8KCdsF48mGONb.png

And that good month in League Two sees us move up to eleventh in the league and now move ten points clear of Northampton and Blackpool in the drop zone who both have just three points each this season. We're also now only four points outside the playoffs, whilst I'm not expecting that this season, its great to see we're close to them.

We move into October in fine form following a very strong September which saw us lose just once and that brought us up to within touching distance of the playoffs and I began to think we could be there this season if we maintain the form we showed then. But then again there is a lot of football to be played still, league and cup football as this month we faced six games, one in the Checkatrade Trophy and five League Two matches, could we continue our march up the table?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/9Q3y8Cli8gihV61L2bIICLlgK2GedIOVgG7MM41l.png

No is the answer as our form turns horrible throughout the month. The team game me a birthday win with victory over Luton at home winning two one to kick off the month but that proved to be our only win of the month. We traveled to Rochdale and drew two a piece, Hassall netting from the spot and Musendo netting in injury time. But then we went four games without a win, first losing to Eastlight in the Checkatrade Trophy on penalties, drawing one all in normal time. Then three league defeats on the bounce, first welcoming Mansfield and losing three nil, losing three one away at Lincoln and then two one at home to Colchester, back to the form I expected from us.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/klBPcvHylxPvvN6hUaBOXjThcvqHbyA1z24NPKVJ.png

And so that leaves us in fifteenth in the Sky Bet League Two table after fourteen matches having accumulated seventeen points so far this season. We're currently six points above the drop zone and seven points off the playoffs as we're literally mid pack to date. Having a look back over the last few seasons it'll take around 50 points to keep us up this year, we're on target for that currently.

To stay up everything's okay I think. To attack the play-offs it's too less I fear. But I think consolidation mid-table isn't the worst mate.

Following a slightly slow October it was important we tried to bounce back throughout December and pick up a couple wins to ensure we don't drop towards the relegation zone. So far this season we were performing much better than I had expected. This month saw us compete in the Skybet League Two, the Checkatrade Trophy and begin our FA Cup Journey.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/oyWs1tkvJR0GsV1wPsNo7xTS9m6JA0kIqUnYcfJH.png

The month of December started with a trip to Northamampton which saw us come out with a two one win, kickstarting the month. A trip to Worcester in the FA Cup First Round saw us knock them out with a narrow three two win, it certainly didn't nee to be that close. Our Checkatrade Trophy adventure came to an end as we lost to Southampton U23's four two, this eliminating us from the group stage. Four league games to end the month, first beating Stevenage four one with four different scorers before we traveled to Wycombe and drew one all after an early Hedges goal gave us the lead. We welcomed Ebbsfleet and narrowly lost two one before ending November with an eight goal thriller, Southend losing five three t home to us as Ashby sstruck twice, Hedges, Cathline and Hassall al on the scoresheet too

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VLXLgWsK4SwHdAtJKgPI7jWKwrm8RBQmLBBMIIOh.png

We're back up on the rise in the table as we move up to twelfth and this has also seen us move twelve points clear of the drop zone as each month is looking more and more likely that we'll stay here this season, its been a superb campaign to date, much better than I thought but still a lot of football to be played this season.

2024 is coming to a close as we enter the final month of the calendar year. Its been a great year for us, scooping the double last season and finally progressing into the footballing league as its known in England. We're still three promotions away from being in the top tier but we're making steady progress. December saw us face four league games and one FA Cup game as we seeked a spot in the Third Round of the competition for only the second time in our history.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/j6A39UE4ALF2udm0LWPrJ1Unft7g1PkLRNYAV2NZ.png

Another very good month on the pitch saw us kick it off with us welcoming fellow league two club Cambridge in the FA Cup Second Round. We came out with a spot in the third round as we won three two, Ashby netting a brace with his second being the winner ten minutes from time. Our only away game of December saw us lose two one against Hartlepool. We finished the month well though with six points from nine as we beat Accrington two nil, Grimsby three one and then lost to AFC Wimbleon to end 2024.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FVxV1gR7g5PCBPzVWRcimPFax51tx381g6CEl3KP.png

At the end of the calendar year we're up to eleventh and now only two points outside the playoff spots again as our good form continues in our first ever season of professional league football. Now thirteen points clear of the drop zone things are looking up rather than down. Still twenty three games to go this season but we continue to target the fifty points for safety this season.

Another new year rolls in and if 2025 is anything like 2024 has been it could be another very busy year and successful one. We've had a very good season to date and are just outside the playoffs in League Two, I would of never thought that six months ago when we got promoted and couldn't strengthen the squad. But we're here and still fighting away in the League and FA Cup.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/l9VSwRCfAEZ0I35f1nZd02q3za7Q350cjWExzfDe.png

A busy month for us saw us face seven games with six of those in the league and one FA Cup game as we were in the Third Round for the second time in our history. The New Year began on a winning note as we beat struggling Blackpool four two, Browne and Ashby both netting braces, Ashby's brace was in the final five minutes. A trip to Championship side Wolves saw us crash out the FA Cup Third Round, losing three nil but not embarrassing ourselves. Two more defeats followed as we lost three nil against Cambridge and four two at home against Eastleigh. We improved to beat struggling Port Vale one nil with Pooni netting before drawing one a piece at home against Barrow with Hedges scoring he was also on the scoresheet in our two one defeat against Fleetwood.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/5XhwLPEpBtWufo3y8tYzlEsyZcNCjGM5QPB5yma9.png

Twelfth in the league now and just ten points away from my pre season total points of fifty. We're still just outside the playoffs now sitting four points outside but I fear our poor goal difference could go on to cost us a chance if we got close due to the amount of teams on the same amount of points. However there is still seventeen league games to go this season so we could still fly or slip in the table.

Just four points outside the playoffs as we enter February, I'm not expecting us to reach them but its nice to be so close to them. However there was still a lot of football to play this season. Now we're only in the league we didn't have to worry about any cups or squad rotations as such. Only four games were on the cards throughout February, could we remain strong.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/IqXqfb67vlK30cBIRXwUnYiAe32dx1PFnmJuRb4c.png

We didn't perform too badly over the month, seven points from a possible twelve and annoyingly losing to fellow newly promoted side Stockport. But first we welcomed struggled Carlisle and beat them four one as we were superb, Ashby netting a first half brace, Browne also on target first half before Pooni netted late on. A three one defeat away at Stockport came but back at home we beat Barnet again seeingg us net four, winning four two as Hedges, Guppy (x2) and Bridge netted for us. Finally ending the month with a trip to Luton, ending one a piece.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/WH3ljUcXOLJsZelvlJGpykf6Go5njOaIjGdcoEyV.png

We've narrowed the points gap to the playoffs to just three points on the playoff places as we close in on the end of the season. We're now thirteen games away from the end of the season and survival, our main aim this season, seems all but secure as we're now fourteen points clear of the drop zone.

Into March and now we're in the football league we've got three months of fixtures left as there are a couple games in May which will have its own update at the end of the season. Anyway back on track, our form had once again been looking okay, we seem to switch from strong months to slightly less appealing months. March saw us face seven league games and have our first 'professional' youth intake, could we uncover a gem...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/T3JGERoPQptHg6qBHYdWXIimq5MwEPDTC9DKTW7O.png

Ray Thompson could make something of himself in this league but its unlikely any of the others will. They all sign youth deals for now but I wouldn't count on seeing any of them in first team action.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ctPvdKPkAuYOrw4GorEfIkNwb4Qk5Oz2N4rpY6J8.png

Again not a great looking month as results are beginning to tumble now. We welcomed Rochdale to kickstart March and picked up our first of only two wins, winning two one with Ashby and Guppy netting first half goals. A trip to Mansfield saw us lose heavily, four one before shocking second place Lincoln with a two one win, Pooni netting the winner seventeen minutes from time. Things then turned sour as a trip to Colchester saw us lose two nil drawing one all at home against struggling Northampton before two more defeats came with a trip to Stevenage and welcoming Wycombe.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/aHBoQG9BoWCgVb4iijx8KjJa7aPmkLr0YsuXtV9a.png

Well we're down to fifteenth and sliding towards the relegation zone. We're now fourteen points clear of the drop with six games to go, so we're almost safe, home and dry but not quite there yet. However we're also ten points away from the playoff spots now so it is unlikely we'll make a charge for them now. But as I've said many times, this season was about surviving in League Two this season and we're set to do that.

The penultimate month of the season, our first ever in League Two and our first ever as a professional club and I feel its been a very, very good first season up in this new league. We're fighting for a strong mid table finish, much better than I expected first season and now past my target of fifty points this season. Four of our remaining six league games awaited us in April.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/W8wZR2iKhFpscFwnkiVH4m6ZsfvrGi6ocUJ0dolf.png

Four matches in April, three wins on the board for us as it proved to be a very good month. A trip to Ebbsfleet saw us win three one to start the month off well, Hedges netting in the first half before Browne and Ashby both struck in the second half to seal the win. Returning home we welcomed Blackpool who are having a very bad season and we struck four second half goals to come back and win this, Noor, Hedges, Bridge from the spot and Ashby all on target for us. The trip to AFC Wimbledon saw us let slip a one goal lead through Hedges and lose two one. The month ended at home by welcoming Southend, beating them three one which saw Ashby strike a superb hatrick.

http://i.imgur.com/a2OONxB.png

Twelfth in the league after forty four games, two games left this season and we can still climb in the league. We're just as likely to drop down a couple positions as well though with the table tight around us. My target this season was fifty points and we're now up to sixty three, much better than I expected. It'd be nice to be able to end the season with a positive or at least neutral goal difference, at the minute it stands at minus one.

Two games to conclude our first ever season in the Skybet League Two, our first season as a professional club and safety was secured, now it was time to finish the season as strongly as we could as we had just two league games left to play in May. Whilst we had small dreams throughout the season of playoff hopes, our real aim all year was to beat the drop.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/S7vzaikkHzGhxfVJS3CsZwEOkDE4JX5vBd0T5WaY.png

We finished the season with a single point from our two games in May but it brings the season to a close. We drew with Girmsby, away from home after Hedges fired us into the lead on eleven minutes. And ended the season with a home game against Hartlepool where we lost one nil.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/rSReatr9HGW5L9IE9U0nEvp2KOSBuaTcsQQUxume.png

So the season comes to an end with us smack bang in the middle of the table, picking up sixty four points along the way of this forty six games League Two season. We went on to win nineteen games, draw just seven and lose twenty whilst finishing with a minus two goal difference. We were 'only' twenty six points off the top spot Colchester this season which is remarkable for our first season in this division. Just thirteen points off automatic promotion and seven points outside the playoffs whilst beating the drop by eighteen points! I'd say this season had been a success!

I have been looking forward to this summer for some time, we had a load of players out of contract, that freeing up funds for me to be able to improve the squad and really build on last season where we finished twelfth. So here we go again, no club news this summer which is a first I think, but plenty of transfer, financial and pre season friendly news to bring you up to date with.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/p65f8rH9dTD34d1Gi6mqGDK95nHARUf07yhsHHbW.png

The club are beginning to improve financially and if we could reach the FA Cup Third Round again this year and get a big away draw we could make it back in the black. The wages have completely freed up now and come the end of the summer we still have fourteen thousand pounds spare in the wage funds so plenty of space to improve the squad if we can. We've also got a one hundred thousand pound transfer budget.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/LAgi31ySKTyvN6WhkCw416SSATt7uueSN9UkEAj3.png

Over forty players left the club this summer between senior squad, under twenty threes and under eighteens, ones who had been given permanent deals last summer due to us going professional and this has allowed us to free up those funds seen above. We've gone on to bring in nine new faces this summer, eight of them on free transfers and one of them on loan as we picked up Guy Booth from Millwall to give him some first team football.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/MMKMI1KQcJGRVvbEcM5THp2bfZx8vLNIOcz8yHqT.jpg

We have a massive squad going into the 2025/2026 season but I'm hoping that'll prove to be a good sign if I can get myself rotating the squad regularly and ensure we can maintain a good season. Brad Gascoigne is our 'weakest' player in the squad, however he is the only original from the 2016/17 squad so I wanted to keep him here. Samual, Sutton and Green all adding plenty of talent to the squad this summer.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bmyIqh03rzGFhQw8l6wktBpNfNlv9Z8WL7PMDNZe.png

A very good summer picking up plenty of wins, only two defeats and they were expected ones in our 'money making' friendlies as they're known as we played Tottentham and Celtic. If the summer is anything to go by then it could go on to be another very good season for us.

Into August we go, with the same kits from last season trying to emulate our brilliant first season in the Sky Bet League Two. It'd be a busy start of the season for us as we faced six games, five across the league and one in the EFL Cup as we aim to beat last seasons adventure of the first round. We also lost Burton as our parent club as they're now also in our league.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/rr1fA1j0IsiRB97QGBtParFTjDnsBX5QZp88uY1F.png

Not a great start to the season, just like last season as we started poorly then. It began okay, a two one home with over Northampton, Bridge netting the winner five minutes from time. We then beat Championship side Cardiff, away from home on penalties in the EFL Cup First Round. We drew three a piece during ninety minutes, Hedges netting twice and an own goal ensuring the draw, we won three one on penalties. Back to league action and a trip to Barnet saw us lose out two nil. Welcoming Bradford City we got another win, winning three two with Pooni netting twice and Green striking one. It was a reverse result against our former parent club, Burton as we lost three two, Pooni had netted another brace though but ended August sourly with a heavy four one defeat against Accrington.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/zyCGkmdpv0UAyNXz7zimJJp7er9IDIHIeC0JJHjm.png

Thirteenth to start with this season after five games, picking up six points. We need to improve and pick up a couple wins on the bounce soon just to move us up the table and open a gap on the relegation zone soon. Our negative goal difference is already on the board but I want to ensure that improves soon, I'm hoping its just the team gelling still.

Every season to date, the club have managed to progress league position wise. However the way we've started this season makes me doubt whether we are likely to be progressing again this season as its been a tough month again. EFL Cup, Checkatrade trophy and league action awaited us in September and we struggled in all competitions.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ZK47PP0zqhs4iOhBeD1AyPtAmbQGwzwmBe1X7IBi.png

Just one win from six games, four points on the board this month. An expected defeat against Championship side Crystal Palace at home in the EFL Cup Second Round saw our journey there come to an end, expectedly so though. We drew away from home against Yeovil, my followed club as they were relegated last season. A three all draw with Hedges netting a brace, his second in injury time to seal a point. Arsenal Under 23s had a big six one win against us in the Checkatrade Trophy. Our only league win this month came at home with us beating Grimsby two one, Hedges netted his fourth goal in three games, Pooni also on target. Two more defeats to end the month as Luton beat us four one away from home and then two one away at Hartlepool. We're in trouble!

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/OkiCEgBdwMBaQNBQQKRg7tgYeuM458tazm0Kl7Br.png

We're down in seventeenth after just nine league games with ten points on the board and the second worst goal difference this season to date. We're just four points outside the relegation zone which is currently occupied by Ebbsfleet and Stockport. It could be a big relegation battle for us this season and a step backwards for the first time in the clubs history.

Into October with our form possibly the worst its ever been, especially over the last five or so seasons as we've had it pretty much all our own way. Now we're finding it a struggle to pick up points here. Perhaps second season syndrome of the Sky Bet League Two. Either way we need to turn it around. We had six games again in October with five in the league and one in the Checkatrade Trophy.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/WzRW6FG26mn3e2Wa9DbW3pnOjifXXm9W52BvKONn.png

And once again it was just four points from our six matches as things don't appear to be improving here. A defeat to start October saw Cambridge visit us and beat us two nil. Our only win of the month came as we traveled to Stockport and beat them three two, three different scorers with Costa, Isaac and Pooni all netting for us. Brighton expectely beat us in the Checkatrade Trophy three one, Pooni netted our consolation goal. A point at home against Crawley saw us come back from two down to grab a point. And again ending the month with back to back defeats, firstly three two away at Boston United, before Southend beat us at home, four one.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/77l7IenG8cmmMk1iGHpMbBJNaRvxQpsBE54eIY9f.png

This is proving to be a big battle this season, not only for our form and the club, but my motivation, however I'm prepared to battle on, I knew it'd be a tough season and can't have it all our own way every year, that'd be boring! Down to nineteenth in the league, fourteen points from fourteen games and just six points above the drop zone in the league so far. We've got a bit of battling to do.
