Into the second month of the year and we're starting to press ourselves on this league, well, maybe not, we're starting to be pressed by this league, especially down this bottom end of the table. We had an FA Cup Fourth Round replay to play if we could go through, we could face a trip to Premier League side West Ham. Five more league games awaited us, a couple wins would set us right off.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/tUTTzFVjFSg3aluXMKge2Ls4MQMlBNCxMOa5cVTO.png

Not quite an FA Cup run like last year where we reached the Fifth Round, but it allows us to focus our last couples months on league football alone. Not that that was much better this month. A defeat on the road against Huddersfield saw us lose out two nil. Bristol City beat us in the FA Cup Fourth Round Replay, two one after Kigbu bought us back level at one all. Our only win this month dragged Leeds United into the relegation battle as we beat them two one. Ali and Allen netting our goals either side of Leeds equaliser. Lincoln narrowly beat us one nil away from home before Millwall beat us two one, our goal coming late in injury time. But we ended the month with a more than well earned point against high flying Bournemouth. Oliveira netted twice for us to seal a point in the two all draw.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/n9e3USi4HWPg5hDDitmDXU7EfwhYDSD19hWcx0T3.png

Another four points on the board, we're still twenty first and seeing the season go by. We've got twelve league games left now this season and still in and out of that drop zone each month. I feel our highest league finish this season is going to be twentieth realistically as the gap then opens up higher to Doncaster in nineteenth. Its tough for us to beat the drop, but with a couple months to go, we'll fight till the end!

Thanks @Number 1 hopefully we can stay out that third tier.

We're into the penultimate month of league action now, well full league action as we have the usual one match in May which will be put into Aprils update. Things are extremely tight down the bottom end still and I think there are still five or six teams that are involved in this relegation battle and we're obviously one of those. Five league games awaited us throughout March and there were plenty of 'lower end' clashes which we really need to take advantage from, but could we...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/JMSG8uOdtEBVNPs4DP8C53djJQaBuSi7EiIIrFHX.png

We may now be a Championship club, in the second tier of English football but our regen intake and youth days remain rubbish. Our facilities are a long way behind our competitiors and non of these players and likely to make it at this club or ever in this tier.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Q3tDk4iNYYEU19Mp1VlInkM0wN10vDEONCPBnNNx.png

Well it wasn't a show stopping month, but nor was it one for the bin! We produced a couple good results to try and help our relegation fight this summer. The month kicked off in fantastic style as we shocked Derby County winning two nil at home, Oliveira and Vernon both netting for us. We then narrowly lost out against Fulham before holding Doncaster to a draw, we were reduced to ten men after just fifteen minutes here, still took the lead through Allen but conceded late on, had we held on to all three points we could of dragged them into the relegation battle and tightened things up. And then we blew an early lead against Mansfield, a club just one position above us in the table. O'Loughlin sent us ahead after three minutes but the traveling side hit back twice to take a two one win, easing their own relegation fears. Finally we ended the month by welcoming Ipswich, a game we simply had to get something from. The boys sure did deliver, a two one victory with goals from Oliveira and Allen secured victory for us.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/T4WaqWbGh8HeXPG9gG8r6334z0dpXV8atSTdWZ5S.png

We're up to twentieth and are set to survive if it was to finish today. However its not, we've got another seven league games over the next five weeks and that'll bring a close to our first ever season in the Championship. As it stands we are three points clear of the drop zone, a good lead to have but not an unbreakable one, our goal difference is slightly worse off than Leeds too so we're by no means safe yet. Nor are the likes of Rotherham, Blackburn, and Doncaster.

Here we go then, the final month, the final seven league games of the season and boy, are they season defining games, we either stay up or go down with a fight this season. We've performed well following back to back promotions and proved to the rest of the pack we wouldn't go down without a fight. A month lay ahead where we had perhaps an easier fixture list on the cards. I gave a team meeting at the start of the month, told the boys to fight, show some passion, now it was time to see if they could deliver on the pitch and keep us in the second tier of English football.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/m5GIJNGatsK0haa9sx8h4HswPGKThcw9ANz2u7om.png

What a month, what a superb response from the boys after the team meeting!! Incredible. We showed some brilliant fighting spirit to lose just once in our last eight games this season. A trip to Brentford to kick off March saw us beat them one nil as Borukov scored. Another trip saw us go to Preston and beat them by the same scoreline, Oliveira was our goalscorer this time. Three home games followed, a nil nil against Barnsley first up, seven days later welcoming near relegated Sheffield United, who we smashed four nil and then beating Norwich who are only just outside the drop zone, Whiteman (pen) and a Borukov brace helped secure that victory. We finished the season with two away games, failing to win both, losing to QPR one nil then drawing with Rotherham, another side near the drop zone, this was surely enough...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/v7VVFaAXbWpkIswUc8CTDOMpgeFgX86SblVYvN17.png

Not only did we survive, but we finished up in fourteenth! It seems all the other clubs around us 'collapsed' towards the end of the season and this saw us jump the pack and clear ourselves from the relegation threat. Sheffield United obviously went down, Doncaster picked up just one point in their last seven gamesand were relegated, whilst Ipswich also go down for the second time in four or seasons despite getting eleven points from their last seven matches. Amazingly all three of us that were promoted last season survive our first season in the Championship as Lincoln finish nineteenth, Mansfield finish fifteenth and we top them in fourteenth. At the other end of the table Bristol City win the league, QPR join them in promotion, finishing behind them by a one goal difference and Huddersfield, Brentford, Millwall and Middlesbrough all go head to head in the playoffs.

London City FC - Pre Season Round Up 2029

I have rather enjoyed this summer just gone, not really sure why as nothing really changed especially compared to last season. However I feel we have moved forward over the summer months both as a club and as players on the pitch as we look to try and top our fourteenth place finish last season. A busy summer transfer wise, news wise and on the pitch. I was just hoping we could start the season a little better this season around to bring a more enjoyable season than the relegation battle we went though over the last nine months of that season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KQVgrtUVTK1E60DMjKIOxIiDizXKZUOg9d95T8Vn.png

It looks like we could be moving home again. Due to our crowd growing and the supporters now flocking in to see London City FC play week in week out the board have decided to begin searching on a new investor and a new site to build the stadium. Surely it has to be named after me. As long as it has plenty of capacity expansion available as we'll be big time one day!

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/YLMCCOiDHDOD28puHF9KsAAnp5x7kcjaTqmPtPnP.png

Even more good news to come out of the summer, the board have agreed to my constant nagging over the youth facilities and we're going to see some upgrades to it over the next few months. The youth facilities are finally getting a lick of paint, actually, I'm hoping its a little more than that, they're getting an upgrade thats for sure. Our Junior budget and youth recruitment process is also being improved. A busy few months ahead for the club.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1ij2cqc7Dl1k5dirdckhoToD2dmfTNbkHPzov2gp.png

Our league finish last season saw the club earn £5.25million if I remember correctly, this took the club from almost two million pounds in the red back to two and a half million in the black or so. We've spent a bit now in the transfer window and the club upgrades above but its nice to be heading forward financially. Won't be long til we're back in the black though I'm sure.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/b5cH1bs3FhZ5VhW4hycc9Oa5nQqnDLN3hygPoqDO.png

Onto the transfer window and once again we've made profit in it. Steve Webb, who was considered one of our better defenders by my scout but personally on stats I didn't think he was, has joined Doncaster for five hundred thousand pounds whilst three players leave on free transfers and Connor Cymond retires from football. Coming in this summer saw two loan deals, a free transfer and two transfers costing us money however Joshua Webb and Bert Schepens are definitely big gains for a club like us.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/DEklcrFGJzb2BDtrEAqySe8voc50eyT4MndBdDD9.png

Here are all the new men this summer. Joshua Webb isn't the youngest defender, at thirty four he does offer us plenty of experience at the back though. William Bolton, also in to strengthen the back line, will gain some much needed first team action from League One Sunderland and will be used as a rotational player. Victor is a good find in my eyes, a strong defensive midfield to sure things up in that hole and a bargain on a free deal. Schepens and McGregor's stats talk for themselves, they'll both be very strong additions to us going forward this season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/JZDKWp6oRibXUtGP9MiuVZxppUwEJNudZMYEMiaI.png

Our squad is beginning to grow in size again this season which should give us plenty of capacity to rotate the side when we can although I doubt that'll be very often if its anything like last season. Our squad is much stronger this season than it was last season though so I'm hoping we are going to take small, pigeon steps forward this year, hopefully beating our fourteenth place finish last season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PXTOSZlgpl6djWToXIHyn8FH1YkjZquk7jYHK8iM.png

In my eyes this is a strong summer on the pitch for us. We won five out of six of our friendlies, most of them were easy games for us getting the team ready for the new season however the victory over Belenenses was a surpising one, although shouldn't be losing to Bury. Onto the new season, lets see how we can cope.

Following my enjoyable summer, seeing some money back in the club and seeing the chairman finally pave way to some new youth facilities it seems like its all systems go at the moment here at London City FC. We survived our first ever season in the Championship last season and now faced our second season here. August would throw us up six matches, four of those in the League with the remaining two in the EFL Cup, so you can already guess we've advanced through one round, but here is all you need to know from August.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QVAIcVnAVGPikEuXMeM94NfgoSnQJcaWdivgSwan.png

I'd say thats a more than adequate start to our second season in the Championship, two wins from four league games along with two wins in the EFL Cup to see us reach the Third Round. The season began at home against Mansfield who, like us, done well to survive last season, we beat them comfortably here though three nil. McGregor, Allen and Oliveira netting, a solid win and start to the season with a clean sheet. We knocked out League Two side Dartford from the EFL Cup First Round, but required an extra time goal from Johnston to seal the win, Bolton had given us the lead early on. Back to the league, promotion chasing Middlesbrough beat us two one before Millwall beat us at home one nil. A trip to Leeds saw us take our chances and beat them five nil! McGregor hit a brace whilst Johnston, Ali and Samuel also found the net. We finished the opening month of the season with a one nil win away at Brentford in the EFL Cup Second Round. Benkassou scoring to seal our spot in the Third Round where we'll face another Championship side in Norwich.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/puam77uhvuv58eApQ1iL8l9yhPYOPgqgVDok4BOD.png

Middlesbrough top the league early on, unbeaten with four wins from four on the board so far this season. We're flying high up in seventh place with six wins from our opening four matches. Its been a very strong start to the season, I'm obviously not expecting this to continue nor us to stay this high, but its a good start getting some serious early points on the table.

A strong start to the season was made in August as we hit a fifty percent win rate from our opening four league games and were in the Third Round of the EFL Cup where we'd play our fellow Championship side Norwich. A great chance for us to progress to the Fourth Round this month whilst we also faced five more league games. Could we continue the strong form we've shown off the blocks this season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/25g63VDxb4VTyLv6CT1HqCSJKezOXTtPiEhqJnzo.png

The green dots continue to fly in over the season as we go through another month with four more wins and just the two defeats. Five league games saw three wins and two defeats whilst we've progressed through the EFL Cup again. We welcomed MK Dons saw us narrowly win the five goal thriller as Johnston struck twice and Smith also found the target. A trip to Fulham saw us lose two nil before returning home and beating Barnsley by a single goal to nil, that being an own goal. Our second and final draw over September saw us lose to newly promoted Aston Villa, Schepens had netted a penalty for us to level the scores. A trip to fellow Championship side Nrowich saw us require extra time again to progress. Borukov gave us the lead nineteen minutes from time, Norwich leveled buy Smith netted a penalty a minute into injury time. We'll face a trip to Arsenal in the EFL Cup Fourth Round. The month ended with a surprise come back win over Derby. We trailed early on before Allen leveled for us. We fell behind again before the break. Second half we came back through McGregor twelve minutes from time before Benkassou netted late on.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/CZGqyKVnfwX8S6J9Xjfz8TqFHwhQZcvD4O9zvaEk.png

I'm not quite sure how, but we're flying up in the playoffs this season so far. Nine league games in and we're up in fifth place with fifteen points alreaedy this season. We have a game in hand which is against Everton which could see us move up to fourth if we can win it. Again, I'm still not expecting us to remain up here, but we'll enjoy it whilst we are.

We're flying into October with our league position its highest its ever been, we were fifth in the Sky Bet Championship although it was only early days of course. Another busy month for us was October and I was expecting it to be a tough one for us looking at the fixture list heading into the month. We had five league games to face which included Everton and Hull, whilst also traveling to Arsenal in the EFL Cup near the end of the month.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/5GyaDrZ5evkNjJA5vhtPFnMxesFZMNulrMUv1UK5.png

And a tricky month it was with us picking up just two wins from six matches through October. A trip to Goodison Park saw us lose out against Everton one nil. Back at home we beat Lincon three two, a game which saw McGregor strike twice and Schepens also find the net. But it was nothing consistant as Brentford beat us one nil when we traveled their fourteen days later. A draw then followed as we traveled to Hull before returning home and picking up a needed win as we beat Cardiff two nil with second half goals from Schepens and Benkassou. But the month ended sourly but as expected as we traveled to premier League giants Arsenal in the EFL Cup Fourth Round, they stuffed us five nil, with all five goals coming in the second half. Just now hope I

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7sqHIw286UnCiR517AStwSUGDMFYuKujUOvChTgf.png

We're on the decline now this season with us down to seventh in the league however it really isn't a big problem especially at this stage of the season, we just need to continue doing what we already are this season and we'll be fine, surviving is our main aim again as the media tip us to finish bottom anyway.

With us doing well this season in the league but now out the EFL Cup it was time to turn full attention back to league action for the next two months. We finished the month of October with a heavy five nil defeat away at Arsenal. With just three league games in November it was time to see if it would of affected our confidence and form this season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Eo7GkKCNed0QpERlvVeoRNd5LLfsODIcuBWqwD9q.png

A nightmare month, failing to win any of our three league matches we faced. A trip to Nottingham Forest saw us lose three nil before returning home to lose two nil against West Brom. And it didn't get any better, we lost to Norwich four one to end the month, Oliveira netted our only goal of the whole month.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KHlzS1qyGhvw53qVM1z0KbqoexFdCNca29a3vMYn.png

Another drop in our league position as we move down to thirteenth after seventeen league games. We have twenty two points on the board at the moment. We're only eight points outside the relegation zone so its still fairly tight down the bottom end of the table. We do have an easier month on paper coming up so with any luck can improve things a little through December.

Another calendar year is coming to an end and we're now waving goodbye to the '20s as December is our final month of 2029. December saw things get much busier too after the three game month that was November, we now faced seven games over the wintery month and all in the league as well.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/I5mHisGzTACNpYmk0VM6szzO6A7KqRMPUNRLpCit.png

What a month for us, bouncing back from three straight defeats in November to win five of our seven matches throughout December along with two defeats. A win against struggling Blackburn saw Johnson net twice and Oliveira also on target as we won three one. Next up a trip to another struggling side, this time Preston who we beat two nil thanks to a second half Oliveira brace. Two sides above us next and both beating us, Rotherham come to us to win one nil whilst Crystal Palace welcomed us and romped us four nil. But we ended the calendar year with three straight wins which saw sixteen goals, us scoring eleven of those. A three two win came against Mansfield, Oliveira, McGregor and Smith netting for us, Smiths goal just three minutes from time to secure the win. Our final away trip of the year saw us beat Bournemouth four two, Oliveira netting first, Johnston and Allen both netting within a minute of each other before Schepens netted our fourth late on. Finally ending the year with a home game welcoming Wigan and scoring four for the second game running. Oliveira netted his sixth goal in seven games throughout December whilst Chris Smith netted two in five minutes of the second half, O'Loughlin finally scoring and breaking his long drought.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VqLFjurt4aQZ6Q1S6R6zU6CEpHx3VqM2JOJ4tMdy.png

Climbing back up the league table. We end the 2029 calendar year up in eighth place of the Sky Bet Championship. Admittedly we're only nineteen points off the top two but of course thats not something we're targetting especially this season. Four points outside the playoffs, perhaps again not a realistic aim but a strong midtable finish could be on the cards, twenty two league games remaining this season, aiming to stay in the division and with any luck, beat our previous best finish of fourteenth.

And we're into the thirties as we enter a new calendar year in 2030! Definitely over achieving to date this season as we go into the New Year up in eighth place so far. We aren't too far off the playoffs either but it'll be interesting to see how we cope this month with the FA Cup kicking off, we had a home tie against Premier League side Burnley so progression would be difficult this year around.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/JBYe81HPb4s7RhT21zNXsz4okDhe5uH5YuO8BtUn.png

All those green dots of December have almost disappeared as we struggle to get wins throughout January. We welcomed high flying Middlesbrough to start the New Year but slipped to two nil defeat at home. We then welcomed Premier League side Burnley in the FA Cup Third Round, we were ahead after the first minute through O'Loughlin but slipped to a one all draw and a replay. Another draw followed as we drew two all with Middlesbrough, conceding twice after being in the lead twice, Schepens and O'loughlin netting for us. The FA Cup Third Round Replay saw us lose out, again takin the lead against Burnley through O'Loughlin but eventually crashing out three one. As we welcomed Leeds we grabbed a point, McGregor with our equaliser ten minutes into the second half but ended the month with our first win in six as we beat MK Dons two one, Oliveira and Allen both netting before half time.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/O8i61ThJQdTfLPfrfSrZf6x260UOriGKtLySinB7.png

Another small drop in our league position, we now sit down in tenth place but anything above fourteenth this season will be seen as a huge success in my eyes. We're fifteen points away from the relegation zone now so getting safer and safer as the months go by. Still only six points outside the playoffs so another good swing of form and we could be near! Three months to go!

Three competitive months of football left for us this season, three months to try and consolidate a strong mid table finish, hopefully higher than fourteenth. We are now out the FA Cup as Burnley knocked us out in a Third Round Replay in January. Five matches to get through in February and we are currently on a three game unbeaten run in the league, could we extend it and pick up a couple more points through this month.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/CZ4ijYRDpw6CQZGKcKKMYSN4Nl9V1RjW7OcK4tEq.png

We have extended our unbeaten run, but a few too many draws slipping in as we win twice and draw the remaining three games throughout February. We welcomed playoff occupants Fulham at the start of February, beating them three one which was a surprise result. Oliveira, McGregor and an Herd own goal sealing the win. A draw with Barnsley followed as we drew one all, Schepens netted for us after two minutes. Allen netted the only goal in a one nil win over Aston Villa before we drew two a piece with Derby and one a piece at home against Everton.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7XtXHA96hQl0Vd05bgO9s73DtTfAmmDfHLIK2r47.png

We're now up in eighth after thirty three games having now picked up fifty one points which is very good for us this season to date with two months remaining. Last season we finished on fifty five points so we seem set to smash that total this year as we've got thirteen games to play yet this season. nineteen points away from the drop zone I'm feeling ever more confident that we're beating the drop at the end of the year and we're threatening for a playoff spot, just three points outside it now,

Eight game unbeaten run, yep, somehow that is what we're on in the league and I'm not quite sure how. We've been sensational so far this season and a couple months left to try and put the icing on the cake of a superb season we've had to date. We had thirteen league games left this season and March would see us face five of those, could we continue to see our unbeaten run blossom whilst we also had the youth intake again this month.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/fWBr5ot4esqKolb42UWG2nIpoUDLScDDezi4ghDO.png

Despite the money we pumped into the youth facilities and recruitment phase last summer we still don't see any real talent coming through our youth intake this year around. Marriott, Forster and Andrews may make something out of their professional status over the next few years but highly unlikely with us.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RY29WE96zINpyRcankj5VcbSBACOolZhy6pYFGtX.png

Our unbeaten run did infact continue to stretch we went on to a twelve game unbeaten run as we won our first four games of the month with the unbeaten run coming to an end at the end of it. A trip to bottom side Lincoln saw us win two nil, both goals coming in injury time as Schepens netted in first half injury time and Johnston in the second half of injury time. Two home games followed, we beat Brentford three one with Oliveira netting a brace and McGregor also netting. We beat Hull four two, Oliveira netting a five minute hatrick whilst all four of our goals came in the opening seventeen minutes of the game. Allen netted the only goal of the game in a one nil away win against Cardiff before we finished the month losing four nil at home to title chasing Nottm Forest.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xi9ojK8LGTrGbV7qp5zYbLqyV7zXInhUFwQNcHSh.png

We're seventh now, outside the playoffs on goal difference. We're likely to miss out on them but will keep fighting right to the end this season. We are safe in the Championship for a second season in a row and can now begin to look forward to next year. Twelve points off the top whilst a win could see us really bring this pack back together.

London City FC - April 2030

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/oFeNEjb6C6kYaABAgFXU13ACkXTudtB9389kQu7k.pnghttps://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/NCotKq1OjJiDyh1Ei0wG6ijnGALrI1M3CwoJ9OOn.pnghttps://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/9OgK4By0Sgnlo3mVHbp6yXcpjfsy6Y9WTMlUYtZf.pnghttps://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bmXTHDIhB5UkxMRFbYiPHYDj0Q480jfMBcgd7E9L.png

With us facing two games in May, for once that'll be a separate update, however lets focus on this here and now. April was a month where we faced six of our final eight league games. A good couple of months could really see us hit those playoffs, an unlikely feat come the start of the season. This was a tougher month than last month on paper though but we've been pulling all the strings this year.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FlVbEmEyrMCAdm6fjmTZJv0NzUZU6ton4urYLAnv.png

A very mixed set of results throughout April saw us really struggle to get going at all but still managed to win twice, draw once and lost the other three games. We kicked off the month with a seven goal thriller as we beat West Brom four three. An own goal and two from Johnston in the opening seventeen minutes saw us race into a three goal lead, which we blew, but Schepens stole the show netting in injury time to seal the win. Back to back defeats came one nil against Norwich and then two nil against Blackburn. At home against Preston we beat them two one, coming back from one down with Oliveira and Shepens netting. We drew two a piece with Rotherham before losing three one at home to fellow playoff chasing Crystal Palace.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/wn0FxTXdoZyiUHlhxNWyypDPjyxr6qfBdiOPzzBY.png

Eighth place, two points outside the playoffs, two games to go this season, it'll be close. Its confirmed we have already beat our finish last season of fourteenth place and fifty seven points. Even if we lost both games to end the season we'd still finish in tenth place. However two wins and results going our way would see us finish as high as fifth. Unfortunately for Lincoln it was the dreaded second season syndrome as they finished rock bottom and are relegated.

Here we go then, the final month of the league season and the final two league games, which could turn into four games and could even turn into five should results go our way. We knew we would need to win at least one game to stand a chance of finishing in the playoffs, but really needed four to six points from Wigan and Bournemouth and results elsewhere to go our way, could we manage it...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/p6HQNRL5tUQ4p4PZwKshohO4GRZtQGYk5Jeq9Fwi.png

Well we sure did, another team meeting as the month began to tell the side to aim for that playoff spot and we picked up two wins and two clean sheets to end the season. Chris Smith netted the only goal of the game in a one nil win away at relegation battling Wigan whilst at home against Bournemouth we won three nil, all three goals coming in the opening forty one minutes as Ali struck the opener and Oliveira with a brace. But now its all on whether that was to be enough...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bWOutwbfi4p12QD4jg7A3WrTEM5emTk2QbIXdwtN.png

We've done it and by the skin of our teeth we're in the Sky Bet Championship Playoffs in only our second ever season in the second tier of English football. What a season. We finish sixth and in the playoffs by just one point over Crystal Palace who picked up two draws in their final two games to slip from fifth down to seventh. Nottingham Forest are the league champions whilst Middlesbrough join them in promotion. We'll now face a two legged tie against Everton in the Semi Finals who we haven't beat in four head to heads whilst Derby and West Brom are in the other Semi Final.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Olf43LXVTm9YbUlJGpDUyEJS9NZOT7MR8d7uozoC.png

Everton came to us in the First Leg with two hundred and seventy five traveling fans and they battered our goal, having twenty one shots to our nine but it was us who held firm to hold on to a draw. Sunderland loanee defender William Bolton gave us a surprising lead three minutes after the break but it was canceled out just three minutes later when Cristian Andrade leveled for the former Premier League club. They kept coming but their lack of shots on target cost Everton here, first leg finished one each.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/GznP1eylAk998lY1UvT5jtqax1depNqsJd03MaLZ.png

What a result! We were into the Playoff Finals! Having never beaten Everton in five previous games I was worried that the trip to Goodison Park would end our promotion dreams. But somehow we were superb here, having more of the ball and almost matching them shot for shot with us hitting the target with thirteen of the sixteen we had, a much better strike rate. We raced into a five minute lead through McGregor before Oliveira made it two nil after seven minutes. We changed from 'attacking' to 'counter attacking' after ten minutes. Seven minutes before the break Everton pulled one back but that didn't hault us, Oliveira netted his second of the game in injury time of the first half. And Schepens sealed the deal, nodding home four minutes into the second half. We were in the Playoff Finals against Derby.

Previous to the Playoff Final we had a strong head to head record against Derby County, in four games we had never lost to them, winning twice and drawing two a piece twice. This made me real excited for the Final and knowing we were just one more unbeaten result against them away from promotion to the big time, stats were in our favor here...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Lz6veXvfp2z7VWYnMa7ZiLb7sdM0JMca18DzYQPa.png

So close but yet so far, perhaps we crumbled under all the pressure promotion would have bought, but its Derby who win the Playoff Final and in convincing fashion thats for sure. The stats tell the story as does the scoreline. We just failed to get going in the first half and it cost us here. One down in four minutes through McLaughlin, two down in seven minutes as Thornton netted for Derby. And they just kept coming, Shabalala netted after twenty one minutes and McLaughlin had his second from a spot kick in the thirty eighth minute. The goals then dried up but we couldn't get back into the tie.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/yzLqFlFks9Hxu5ki0Y1TPXjZqsALJRpMicuYNdF4.png

As the season came to a close we were paid out £5.25million for participating in the Sky Bet Championship this season and that money will hopefully go towards new players over the summer to strengthen the squad once again as well as hopefully add to our current training and youth facilities to continue to get the best out of the players we have at the club. The bank balance currently stands at just over £4.25million as the club finished the season around £1.5million in the red.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/DsRGfW5vX6L8aj1Nr4PiIMpiOdKluEApWZ3WF0t4.png

Its unusual I finish the season with 'big news' but its happening this year around. Firstly the board have given us money to spend freely this summer, a transfer budget of over three million pounds could certainly help us push on next season although the aim will be the playoffs again from my point of view. I'll spend the summer evaluating the squad and whats about to be able to bring in. And we're moving stadiums again this time we're building a brand new stadium in London Colney with a 14,900 capacity. It'll take just over a year to build and has cost the club £18.75 million which has come out of a bank loan. Its a sign of the club moving forward thats for sure.

Unlucky in the final, hopefully though your new stadium and money to further strengthen your squad will help you push even further in the Championship and get ready for life in the Prem. Also somewhat surprising to see Everton not only being relegated from the top division but also unable to win promotion back up.

Playoffs just aren't our thing it seems @r96Skinner

Yes we weren't ready for Premier League football @Shedender just wish Everton beat us as we can beat Derby, Everton are so much stronger.

Thanks @lolmappo we've always struggled in the playoffs, they're not for us thats for sure. The upgrades this summer will definitely help the club move forward over the next few years for sure.

Yes it was a huge achievement and step forward @Number 1 it'd be great if we can better that and win promotion next season but it will be tough.

With the club planning a new stadium move over the next year, building our own stadium will be a big step forward for this club, as was reaching the Championship Playoffs last season. But there was more I wanted the board to work on this summer whilst we actually had the money in the bank balance so I got requesting. I've also got the usual round up of transfer news and our squad, as well as all results on the pitch this summer.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/SoPD6FCJ2vnJPkAnde7VG9xKe3eWvG27AtGHq0gp.png

More facility work will be going on this summer as we upgrade our training and youth facilities. This should hopefully allow our players to reach a better level quality of football as well as being able to bring through some better younger players so we're not constantly having to worry about buying new players in etc. We've also had our scouting range upgraded and can now scout the whole of the world. A huge step forward.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/3x5Hcp7wUfuV3r8BVkcu9AD6Ql8VZgTls7jQAhBZ.png

A busy summer for us both in and out of the club. We saw five players leave with defensive midfielder Victor heading to MK Dons for three hundred and twenty five thousand pounds and youth starlet Miles Dixon head to Cambridge on loan. The other three players were out of contract and left on a free transfer. Coming in, we spent just under one million pounds with one free transfer in that and one more youth project signed.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/nGWoF6qSDBJyEyylNFU19gBm6ajumLBIp7ctqleY.png

Both William Bolton and McGregor were here with us last season on loan from Sunderland and Crystal Palace respectively, I have signed these on to permanent deals this summer and I feel they'll have a few brilliant seasons with us. McGregor was very good infront of goal last season for us. Maddison and Bothe both look like good additions to the midfield whilst Ashley Lewis looks good for a nineteen year old.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/nTXIl3oKz9SjrJYsNJBPvoTvReFc8AA5zLJujufz.png

A small squad again this year, we've still got money to spend in both transfers and wages so I will be continuing to look for new players even as the season begins. But hopefully this is a squad that can compete for the playoffs again this year and overachieve as once again we're predicted to finish bottom at 1000-1. Anyone fancy tipping us to win the league...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/SiAcU5PAZg88VKgL7NCdXcykTuuFwg8mmT4PHdhC.png

A strong summer on the pitch. We remained unbeaten and even beat Spanish La Liga side Granada as we toured Spain. We toured Portugal last season it shows how far the club has come now being able to go on summer tours outside our own country. Four clean sheets too.

Into our fifteenth season here at London City FC and its been a wonderful stint that I've thoroughly enjoyed. Just one step to go to hit the Premier League, perhaps it'd happen this year. A busy August awaited us as we kicked off our third season in the Championship, the second tier of English football and also began another EFL Cup journey. Could we start the season strongly.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bbcOZcLZ6OfPW00bnnAReLiSKNvNbXYEfwdP1qbo.png

A very good start to both competitions we've entered so far this season. We welcomed relegated side QPR to kick off this season and grabbed a one all draw as William Bolton, who signed a permanent deal netted our equaliser. Our EFL cup journey began at home against League Two side AFC Wimbledon and a strong four one win saw us easily through with Oliveira netting twice along with Johnston and an own goal. Our only defeat of August came with a trip to Bournemouth where McGregor put us ahead but we lost out. Back at home we beat West Brom four two, Oliveira netted another brace, Schepens and Allen also on target before we beat Birmingham three nil. EFL Cup progression came again as we beat League One side Colchester, O'Loughlin netting late on before we ended the month with a one all draw against Norwich.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/F915CVX9KrJHTGEer8hllZygOa7FxDTdSHyV7voC.png

Eighth after the first month of the league season. A long way to go just hoping we can hold our own again this season. Burnley are top of the pile four points above us whilst holding a small lead over Fulham then a further point behind Barnsley, Everton and Rotherham. There are big teams in this division now so fighting for promotion will be hard for us.

One again we've started the season very, very strongly picking up just one defeat in the opening month of football. We now head into September with our main aim to continue our strong start to league football. We're also still in the EFL Cup with a tie against West Brom this month in the Third Round. It'd be good to go into October with us still in the EFL Cup as well as pressing the league leaders. Lets see what happened...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/iCIm6gyaUp4hHoOkV96hxZ4YYDxRslHGrQJMDxlX.png

Five matches, two competitions, four wins, progression in the EFL Cup and just one defeat. September proved to be another strong stepping stone for us indeed. We beat Leeds comfortably, four nil at home to start the month with a band, Maddison netted a brace whilst Allen and O'Loughlin also were on target. Our only defeat this month came against league leaders Burnley one nil. We returned home to beat Aston Villa one nil. Knocked West Brom out the EFL Cup Third Round, O'Loughlin and Schepens netting either side of the hosts equaliser to guide us to a win. Finally the month finished with newly promoted Sunderland, who we beat in a nine goal thriller. We came out winners six three as Bolton, McGregor, Boothe and Samuel netted one each and Allen struck a brace for us, his two goals coming in the space of three minutes.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/wecHJmsNcflyYyxtFcHJwAvYtlETQN5q6TquEvCj.png

Sixth place after nine league games this season, we're currently showing that we are able to keep up with the bigger boys in the league at this early stage of the season and I know there is a long way to go yet. Burnley remain top on twenty one points, Everton second with twenty whilst Rotherham are behind on goal difference. Fulham and Bournemouth sit on eighteen points with us just a further point behind. And we're still in the EFL Cup which will see us face Premier League side Swansea.
