Just read an interesting tweet on the BBC feed, don't know how accurate it is. Says Watford have outspent Liverpool so far this window.

Shows how crazy the market and the money is these days I guess.

I don't think it was as didn't look as if the ball was going forwards when originally crossed and only did once it brushed off Matip (i think).

Doesn't matter which direction the ball is going in - just matters that he's nearer to the ball than the second-last opponent. Common misconception.

If Conte wanted something to back up his calls for more investment, I think he has it. Fucking hell what a spectacularly shit start they're making.

Fucking hell. Thought we would struggle and be held to a draw but this is some other level of shit.

I can see us bringing in 4 players in the coming week. That or Conte resigning.

Their bench is laughable as well, how has he not been given money to spend.

Just seen Rooney's heat map for the first half, absolutely all over the pitch. Didn't United fans use to criticise him for not running?

I don't know who was the idiot who handled transfers (ME or RA) but fuck me he did a terrible job. I don't even think we need that much but when you get to a point that Boga starts and you have Kenedy, Musonda, Christensen, Tomori and Scott on the bench you know you have done a shit job.

It might well be it was exaggerated, but the Championship this time felt tougher than it did in 2009-10. Either that or back then we had a more street-wise squad with some proper buggers like Nolan, Smith, Barton, Butt, etc. I'm not as bothered as I could be though - either way, we still got up and had the added bonus of winning the league. Wasn't perfect, and we definitely underestimated it far too often, but we did what set out to do.

I'm aware a snippet has just been released of an interview Sky did with Mike Ashley that is to be in full broadcast on Sunday after the Spurs game. Says he's not as wealthy as people think due to most of the wealth being in Sports Direct shares, and that he can't afford a £200m cheque for Rafa to do what may. A fair bit of the reaction from non-NUFC fans on Twitter seemed negative, curiously. Don't think it helps a report was out in another newspaper the other day saying he signed a cheque for £200m towards the redevelopment of some London properties. And even then, I was broadly sympathetic to the fact it was sell to buy but our sell list has few takers.

Krul is a bit of a surprise. Thought he might get a look in rather than no squad number and being told to go away.

It felt harder because we were no where near as good. - And yeah Ashley doing a business deal is hardly comparable to effectively giving away money to a football club.

I have no sympathy for the sell to buy - it's mostly been Benitez' fault - Tim Krul is our longest serving player and has been effectively banned from the club, Saivet told to train with the reserves immediately, Lazaar was his signing, Likewise he signed Hanley, had one look at him before deciding to buy someone else. His first signing was a goalkeeper when we already had three plus a promising one.

And he seems a complete moron, when it comes to selling players - putting them in the reserves / not giving them squad numbers - makes it clear we have no leverage in the terms of a sale. Quite frankly if someone came in now and asked for any of these players on loan with no contribution or a free - we would be better of doing it for morale purposes.

It's Souness and Bellamy all over again.

I'd say Ruud Gullit with Rob Lee is the closer parallel than Souness-Bellamy. That was more a case of two abrasive personalities rubbing each other the wrong way over claims Bellamy refused to play out wide. Somewhat ironic given that's where Bellamy played a lot for Man City, Liverpool and Cardiff several years after departing St. James'.

Its an ugly business but it happens. More of a surprise of no Krul buyer, mind, although I'm guessing the injury problems and poor form since the mid point of 2013-14 don't help. I was assuming Saivet might creep in if Colback is sold, although it is likely someone else would just turn up if that happened. I thought Hanley had already left, which shows how little attention I was paying, Lazaar was a bit of a pointless signing, albeit kinda ok given it was from the "speculate to accumulate" school. The sell to buy ethos was the sympathy for Ashley, even if slightly eroded by then knowing he can be in a position to write huge cash for a property deal then saying "I'm not that wealthy" due to share dealings - values make it worth noting to take the words sceptically. Its a bit of a 1% problem to have.

Still, whatever. An extra striker given Gayle's dodgy hamstring, Mitrovic's lack of scoring and Murphy now playing for Nottingham Forest is the main thing. Don't think that's too much to ask for...

And I wasn't at the match. Could have got a stream, but I'm superstitious and didn't want to curse them. Sounds like, 43 million dives by Zaha aside, he handled the game pretty well.

Hamman summarising it there. Klopp has a shite record of closing out games, we smashed them for about 20 minutes and were on top when he made some questionable substitutions. Alexander Arnold was boss at right back, and he bought on Gomez who gave the free kick away for the goal.. Origi couldn't hold the ball up for fuck.

Loved him when he was on loan with us, definitely more suited to Championship football! 6 goals in 10 appearances, he ripped it apart. We'll gladly take him back!

Anyone see Jamie Redknapp and Carraghers heater debate last night? Can only agree with Redknapp, we're so shit at defending set pieces, conceded the most from set pieces last year and already conceded from two corners this year. We're a joke at the back. Mignolet isn't a top four goalkeeper and we have no leader in the back line. What are we expecting!?

Liability above the Championship. Banned far too often for completely stupid things. It's not like he's mistimed a tackle when on a booking - none of his red cards are ever for something that are just part and parcel of playing in the centre of the midfield. Were he 18 it'd be almost excusable, based on his age, but he's 25 and hasn't learned.

He was mostly shite in the Championship tbf.

Doesn't even try like 30% of the time.

Arsehole believes he deserves to be in the England squad - and seemingly wasn't really punished for being banned for racism last year.
