Matic shows his worth...winning the ball back and leads to a Lukaku goal.

Already miss him! West Ham are a mess really. Should have scored what might be their only chance this game.

Yeah. Finally a great game from them! Can see it being a two horse race between them and City (as most have guessed before the season started).

Shelvey is a joke of a footballer

I really wish we could sell him but what muppet is going to take him?

There were a few positive signs, and I do wonder if Kane got away with one for the foul on Lejeune, but Shelvey has ultimately decided the game by behaving like an enormous bellend.

Main worry is I can't see where any goals are going to come from;

Our tactics seem to rely on Dwight Gayle being Didier Drogba

Matt Ritchie isn't really an effective outlet, Atsu (who was great today) - still didn't really have any end product, Shlevey can't create as opposition will outwork him, the club doesn't really have a creative number 10. - Merino also looks like he will be too lightweight - but obviously early days on that one.

Newcastle need to release Shelvey. Sign an actual holding midfielder - to sit, put Colback into CM to hassle, and sign a creative midfielder to get the ball forward (maybe Ritchie or Merino can do this). - with Wingers actually pushed up - Murphy/Atsu/Aarons who need to just go for it - and get balls into the box/shoot/commit defenders.

Atsu really does need to improve his finishing. Had some great runs today.

Unbelievable result yesterday!!!

That performance can surely only breed confidence.

Was at Old Trafford for it, wrecked in work today, but so worth it!!

Once we bring in Joselu and Kenedy - I think only Man Utd, Man City, Watford, Leicester and Huddersfield will have spent more than us net. I think we spent something like 4th most in the world in 15/16 as well.

In fairness i could have put in Seaman

And for me Gerrard is quite possibly the best central midfielder i have ever seen.

Was a hard choice of couple season wonders (e.g. Suarez) vs more established guys (e.g. Owen) but think this covers it for me. Potentially drop Drogba for a Vieira/Scholes/Keane/Shearer

Absolutely rolled over with that 2nd goal. United were in a bit of bother at 1-0.

They're just too 'nice' to play against, remind me a little bit of ourselves just with much poorer players obviously. Gonna be a long season for them.

Jesus, Arsenal have got to have the most pointless selection of players ever. Fucks the point in Ozil, Walcott, Ox, Giroud or Welbeck, if they're fucking passing it around in the middle of the park with 5 minutes left instead of getting it forward.

Absolutely fuming they cost me my bet.

Starting to go off Klopp a bit...

Sell Coutinho, he wants to go and there are enough attacking players in the Liverpool squad to cope with his loss. £114 million is in line with the over the odds prices that players are going for. Use the money to buy a goalkeeper and a left back.

Secondly, get over yourself and reinstate Sahko into the defence. Klavan is a liability and Gomez is not ready for the Premiership, at least not at a top side. Lovren and Matip and irregular at best too. Moreno? Nothing needs saying here that isn't already known about his defensive capabilities.

Well.

For a start Barca can suck one, especially with the clauses they're offering. It's 80 million spread over 5 years, rest is stupid clauses. If they want him then they can pay up front for him.

Also he would be a big loss, as seen today we look very one dimensional at times. Re goalkeeper I think we're fine, there's no one out there available that would improve us. More pressing to sort out CB situation either way. LB Robertson looked better there today, Moreno has looked better in pre-season but I would still make him into a midfielder a la Bale at Spurs.

Ah, didn't know it was all promises and IOUs in terms of fee payment for Coutinho. In that case, fair enough in waiting for the offer to be in actual cash!

I suppose in creativity you have a point. Llallana is out injured but of course is not the sole answer. I think it also highlights the weakness in deeper midfield. Henderson is over rated, Wijnaldum is not a creator either and I think Can should start ahead of either of them anyway.

Recreating Moreno into a forward player is a must.

I just don't think Klopp can build a balanced squad.

My favourite part of MOTD was Jermaine Jenas pointing out the negatives of our 4-0 win over Swansea. Sensational pundit.

Tbf what he said wasn't far off. The 4-0 was a bit flattering, Swansea imploded after going 2-0 down and we took full advantage!!

We played well, but the game was very much still in the balance at 1-0. The main thing I'd take from yesterday is that again we've a few different goalscorers, confidence will be building in defence and attack as those partnerships got another 90 minutes. If we can beat Leicester now before the international break it would be absolutely perfect!! Just hoping nobody picks up injuries whilst away on international duty.
