As the devs has removed the "data" folder from "FM18 Editor" its now impossible to used any of .xml files the Nations eg. West Malay or Upper Volta for creating new nations as i said above - i been looking all day for the data files that make FM18 Editor work, but i had no luck - if there is someone who is have a idea where this "data" folder has gone to - please let know as this is half the fun of FM for a group that i belong to do- and yes my all hidden files do show up

I'm sorry, but I'm struggling to understand what you're trying to say, mate.

Can you upload the files you're referring to? Maybe I can have a look at them when I get home later...

Hi Mons

My FM18 Editor is working fine, no problems there - the problem i am having is when you want to edit an Nation's continent inside the FM2018 editor it is greyed out meaning that you cant change the continent of a specific nation - in past years all you had to do to be able to change in FM17 editor all you need to do is to to this file D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2017 Editor\data\format\database\nation.xml - then go change this line inside of the nation.xml file & then change this line under the Continent part of the file and then change the "true" to "false like so from: <boolean id="is_read_only" value="true" /> to: <boolean id="is_read_only" value="false" /> then the Nation's continent inside the FM17 Editor & wont be grey out anymore & will be changeable. So you could for example you could change the nation "South Africa" continent from Africa to Europe using the FM17 editor. In FM18 there is no "database" folder in my "FM2018 Editor" folder so there lies my problem as I cant find or change the nation.xml file needed.
Sorry for going into such depth but you wanted to understand my problem
If you could help - i would so appreciated

An admin made the files and upload them.I had download them and added to fm18 data.Then i went to nation.xml and edited so now im back again to edit any extinct nations as in past.I would like to send you the file but don't know if it can be attached here..

What directory are you putting it in? I'm probably being a bit dense, but I can't seem to get it to work.

You add the new files to football manager 2018/data

here you can find the solution: https://community.sigames.com/topic/419159-new-nation/?tab=comments

Download the FM18 Resource Archiver from Steam and launch it.
Click "Extract Archive" and find the file "comp editor.fmf" in your Steam folder "...\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2018\data"
Select a folder to extract the files to
In the new folder, find "nation.xml" an open it.
Note that there are 2 files called "nation.xml", but only 1 has the following text:
<!-- Continent -->

<record>

<flags id="field" value="Ncti" />

<translation id="name" translation_id="229389" type="use" value="Continent" />

<flags id="type" value="database_record_unique_id" />

<flags id="database_table_type" value="continent" />

<boolean id="is_client_field" value="true" />

<boolean id="is_read_only" value="true" />

<boolean id="is_optional" value="true" />

</record>

Change row <boolean id="is_read_only" value="true" /> to <boolean id="is_read_only" value="false" />

Save the xml file

Before you go to the next step, make a backup of your "comp editor.fmf" file in case the process goes wrong for whatever reason
Go to the Resource Archiver and package the file back together: Click "Create Archive" and save the archive file in the "...\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2018\data" folder.
Only overwrite the existing file there if you had made a backup of it.
Launch the Editor and it should work.
