Eric Portapotty
Indeed, here I go with another crack at Italian football, this time it'll probably be far more difficult than the Benevento fluke.
The managerial ability seems apt for the level which I'll be working at, and with the (very, very) long term in mind I though I'd go with youth development as my style.
I decided to take on both the club and NT jobs as well, because let's be honest, San Marino aren't sacking managers any time soon; you can't possibly do worse than come last can you?
A couple of players stand out instantly for club and country:
Fantini is the best of a seemingly solid corps of centrebacks at the club, and while he might be a bit dodgy with his mentals I have faith he'll cope well enough.
Olcese's presence is a boon, especially since his preferred DLF role will fit in perfectly with my 4-3-3 Wide system used to great effect at Benevento.
Benedetti is a fantastic prospect given the stature of the national side, and I expect him to make the role of fishing out balls from his net his own for the next 15 years or so.
Palazzi is the utility man of the side, hence while he's best playing wrong-footed at LB I want to have him in central midfield - we don't have much quality at CM (and yes, we don't have any quality at LB, but you really need a pair of legs that can chase down a winger in that position don't you).
So we aren't the gritty underdogs that I was more used to managing, hmm... Not sure about this, my track record isn't too good when it comes to succes with clubs straight from the off.
Finally, a taste of the quirk that is 4th-tier Italian football:
Hate ageist rules, they were once proposed here in Singapore, and though they were revoked after some uproar many a career had been ended by then.
But I digress - from my (as a manager of both San Marino teams) perspective this is actually quite good news, I'm going to need to bring youngsters through to the first team anyway, so a bit of restrictions would curb a reliance on temporary fixes.
