Hi all- from San Diego, CA here and love football. Anyway, I have taken the plunge and purchased FM18 on Steam. I'm sure I will need a lot of help once I get into it but can you recommend what mods are truly "essential" to maximize game play? I will only play in the Italian leagues (I'm a HUGE Inter fan) and want the best experience possible. I see there is a link on this site for "FM2018 Essentials"- are basically all those what I should get? I hope I'm not "stepping on anyone else's toes here" but I noticed there are other sites that have mods (FM Scout) and I'm wondering if that site's mods can be combined with the ones on here.

Any advice on this is GREATLY appreciated!

In my opinion, the single most important thing you should download is the real name fix file, which fixes some licensing issues. It's very important to have it before starting a new game as some changes needed to be in place before then. But then again, as the file creator, I would say that

As for the graphics, they can be added even after a save-game has started. I personally couldn't do without having real faces, logos and kits, but it's up to you really

It really depends what kind of mods you're talking about. For example, you can have multiple skins installed, but you can obviously only use one at a time. You can also use logo packs and facepacks in parallel (in separate folders), and in cases of items common across both packs, the game picks the item in the folder on top alphabetically.

Also, most files released recently by the community have very decent customer service technical support, so if you're having issues with them not working or not sure where to install them, you can usually ask and receive feedback reasonably quickly.

Hope this helps

Personally, I use a few on every edition.

as mons said - I also view the real names fix as an essential. Competitions and teams with their proper names, and not the fictional names forced by licensing issues

I also use a kitpack, and a logo pack so the teams now all look like the real thing (also a 3d match engine kit as well if its available!)

DF11 Facepacks are another essential for me, the players look like who they are. I have also found a 'newgen' facepack, with random real faces for the newgen players.
If you play Italian leagues, there shouldn't be a problem finding packs for those teams, plus the major European leagues when playing in European comps,

Now, I am always given the latest release by my daughter, every year for my birthday, and I usually have all these files pre-downloded, extracted and ready to go by then!

I am currently looking for a stadium design mod option, as FM18's lower league grounds all look the same, and all too big for the club - any suggestions?

Awesome! Thank you. One last question- which is the best FM series? I see a lot of '12 and '17...

It doesn't exist, I'm afraid
