The Live Data Update for FM18 (note this is distinct from the custom start date file) now includes two optional files:

"Base File - Reduced Player Contracts"
"Base File - Increased Player Ages"

As the names of the files indicates these increase the players age for all players by +1 year and reduces all contracts of all players by -1 year. Join dates have also been incremented by one year, so players who signed last summer will not reject contracts on that basis.

So a player who previously had 2 years left on his contract will now be in the last year of his contract.
And a player who was previously 30 will now be 31 and so on.

These files are OPTIONAL. Please try them and provide any feedback that may be useful.

One known problem with these two files is that young players who age will not have any improvement in attributes, so the data update is accurate in so far as a player who was 18 when FM18 was released is now 19, but it won't be realistic in so far as his attributes won't have improved at all and it will thus be harder for him to develop within the game. Unfortunately we don't have the time to modify player attributes so this won't be changing.

Enjoy!

Well, i download the data update, i put it in editor data, but when i start a game, the players remain the same, same age and same contracts.

Question...for example Kostas Manolas before applying the patch contact started June 2017. Shouldn't this update push the year back to 2016?

His "join date" that the game uses to decide if he's willing to change club will have changed, but his contract start date won't have changed. Unfortunately this isn't data we have available to us.

I realise that this may be confusing, to try and explain as best I can, the game uses a hidden "join date" attribute to decide if a player wants to move, which is what is updated, but what you see on the contract screen as a "start date" is just for appearance and not actually used by the game engine itself.

Here's a revolutionary thought, how about testing before release?

I realise that this is done in people's sparetime, but if you can't be bothered testing what's the point in releasing at all?
Shoddy work...

Wonderful attitude towards the users of this site btw, classy

Shoddy work...

Wonderful attitude towards the users of this site btw, classy

Firstly: The update is made automatically every hour, we can't test every single one, that would require that someone manually tests every single hour, which is just ridiculous. The alternative is only releasing when someone is online and manually able to do so, which could be weeks between. I'm not really sure what you're expecting?

Secondly: Re-read your comment, there's no reason to be condescending and sarcastic. What's more your criticism doesn't even make sense... it's common sense that a live update such as this can't be constantly tested and requires users who are using it to find them and report them. That's all thats happened here and to criticise the fact that it did happen as "shoddy work" is absurd. If you have suggestions of how you would do it better i'd be very grateful, but I have a feeling you don't.

Thirdly: With all the thousands of hours and contributions that go into it, you could at least give a better bug report than "contracts doesn't work" like, what didn't work? All players, or some players, which ones did you check? Staff as well as players? Which version where you using that didn't work? It's literally a collaborative update that anyone can contribute to, but you've contributed nothing and you can't even bothered to post a sentence long bug report, but can take the time to be critical and be sarcastic? Literally, your sarcastic second line was longer than your helpful bug report. Take a look at yourself and your attitude, seriously.

igor semenov of chornomorets (gk coach) has passed away in april 2017 (he was born in 1973):

his uid is: 71032413

furthermore, the picture in the database is incorrect -- it depicts eintracht's kit manager igor simonov (he was born in 1958):

Please refer to the data update page on how to submit changes, it's a collaborative update that anyone can edit so if you see a mistake, you can submit it yourself. Dead players should be retired, finished loans can be removed etc.

Hi

Does this work on transfers I submit today? For example will a 4 year contract that ends in 2022 effectively end in 2021 when starting a new save meaning the contract is 4 years and not 5 years in game?

Thanks

Used this last year and found it very helpful in keeping the game fun after the window. Just wondering if when using this, anybody knew if there was a way to move World Cup and International tournaments without messing them up. I have tried altering international tournaments before with bad consequences, so it is something I am always wary of. I would happily do it myself, but thought I would first see if anybody knew it was possible. Basically I would want it to be treated like the current 2018 World Cup was 2017 in-game, and the next World Cup would take place in 2021. Euros would be 2019 etc.

The reason would be because if starting a new game in 2017, as if it's 2018 (which is the effect of this brilliant optional file), I would prefer the World Cup not to happen at the end of my first season, and not have to wait for what would then be three years in-game for the Euros. Realised I have rambled on, but if anyone can make sense of what I have said and advise me I would be grateful

Are you saying that Portsmouth isn't updated but every single other team is? That would be a bug because Portsmouth should be included.

I tried to buy Luke McGee from Portsmouth from the beginning of the first season, but he would not negotiate because he had just arrived. So I assume, that there hasn't been applied changes that makes i possible to buy players that arrived at the club last summer?

this may not be update related but iwas wondering if there was a way to add expansion teams into the US and have an expansion draft like LAFC have mid season, im aware that you can add teams using the editor but the teams are considered like the other teams but don't have any players

Potentially, a new site is meant to be coming in the next few weeks which is taking most of the time. It won't be attempted until November when FM21 is stable if it does get released.
