The World Cup may not have finished quite yet, but European qualification is underway.

No English teams yet but plenty of Scottish, Irish and Welsh teams in the early rounds.

Thankfully BT Sport is showing games so I can continue to watch football for most of the week!

Rangers are currently playing a Macedonian team called Shkupi and Hibs are already up and scoring against Runavik. Didn't go so well earlier for Derry City or Connahs Quay.

Glenavon beat Molde 2-1 last night at Mourneview Park. Meanwhile tonight Cliftonville are a goal down to their Danish opponents but Coleraine lead 1-0 away from home, both half times.

Been watching the Rangers game (duh!) and they're a goal up at half time but I feel the side need a few more goals because if it remains 1-0 then I'd have fears of what happened twelve months previous against that Luxembourgian side.

Only saw the first half of the Rangers game as the missus came home and demanded we watch something else

Looks like they got a penalty late on to make it a bit more comfortable. Thought they were rather fortunate with their first! Goalkeeper should have saved it. Glad to see they got a win for Gerrard, though I don't see them battling too hard for the title on that performance. Still, very early days yet!

Dundalk grabbed a one goal win away, which could prove vital. Cliftonville finished with a one nil loss and it will be difficult to turn around away from home, but at least it is only one! Derry City lost by two at home, so their task is twice as hard! Shamrock Rovers will also have to overcome a one nil deficit if they have any hope of reaching the group stage again. The Welsh side Connah's Quay did not fair any better, going down 3-1 - but at least they gave the home crowd something to cheer about.

Hibernian were the pick of the night! Crushing their opponents 6-1 with Kamberi carrying on some nice form to bag a hat trick. True, they were against ten men for an hour, but they seemed to be in control before that anyway.

Lucky you, mine can't get enough of it. Though it does give me an excuse to go on the Xbox every night

Crusaders are not enjoying their European adventures this season! After conceding 9 over two legs in their Champions League qualifiers, they've gone on to concede another 5 in their first leg of the Europa League qualifiers! Even the goal they scored was an own goal. From the British teams to crash out of the Champions League qualifiers, TNS did a bit better by managing to a 2-1 victory in their first leg tie over Lincoln Red Imps.

Aberdeen and Burnley battled to a draw, as did Dundalk - leaving their games wide open.

Hibs are still scoring, but conceding also. A 3-2 win is not much assurance, as those away goals could come back to haunt them. Rangers managed a good 1-0 victory away and take a well earned advantage home for the second leg.

The British teams all went for a 1-1 draw in the second leg, which saw them all progress except for Crusadors.

For Burnley and Aberdeen, though. this meant extra time and the English side showed their stamina to keep going and win 3-1. The goal of the night definitely belonged to the visitors, with young Ferguson scoring an overhead kick to level the tie.

On to the next round of qualifiers!

Felt Aberdeen were the slightly the better team overall, Burnley will be about as useful as Everton were last season in the tournament, providing they even make it to the group stage.

I'd happily take the full time whistle right now.

Well, they managed it - albeit via a penalty shoot out for Chelsea. Thought Frankfurt deserved to go through, but that's football.

Good luck to all the fans trying to get to Baku!

So, the first of the all English European finals is about to get underway.

One thing I don't get though, if Chelsea win, who gets the extra Champions League place that would be Arsenal's if they won?

Congrats to Lyon then!

Don't see Arsenal recovering from three down. Do feel a bit sorry for Cech, having to play with this defence.

Never been so relieved to see Chelsea win before. Glad Arsenal are stuck in the Europa League after all the shit they used to give us for being in it.

So there we have it, well done to Chelsea and, er, in particular Rob Green...

So that means next year's English entrants are Arsenal, Man United and Wolves for the Europa League.

Right?
