This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2020 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach managers have fake names. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.
You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.
For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

Right! I guess I'll just update when the full game releases! I'll probably start a new save then.
Apologies for bothering you again!

The latest version of the patch, released yesterday afternoon, resolved this issue. This particular fix is not save-game compatible, unfortunately, so you'll have to start a new game to see it
McG84
I downloaded the new file to fix the club and competition names. The competition names have changed but the club one's haven't.
I know you need to start a new game to see the club names change, which I have done but still to no avail.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Are you running a Mac? The folders where the editor data files are placed are different this year than in previous versions, as indicated within the installation instructions.
If not, can I have a look at where you've placed your editor data files?
McG84
It's on PC, Windows 10. I've attached the folder where I am saving the latest downloaded files to. I have taken screenshots of the folders in 2000 and checked to see the folders in 2001 and they match.
mons
The files in this download should not go into a sub-folder titled "editor data" as in your setup, but they should go directly into the editor data folder, like in the below screen:

Downloaded the beta version
deleted all the files
copied paste the new files in the new folders as mentioned
opened the game , start new game , get a popup saying there are no databeses , kindly make sure u didnt install a corrupted version or something like that
any solutions ? or should i delete and re install the whole game ?
*****
re installed all works fine thanks
mons
How did you manage that?
Actually, I got an idea as to how. You've deleted the whole 20xx_fm folder in 2000 and 2001 respectively, which contains the actual database. This was not part of the installation instructions, which you'd do well to read more carefully next time round
To get it back again, verify the integrity of the game files, then reapply this download, taking particular care to only delete the dbc, edt and lnc folders, and not the other one as well

After installing the latest licence update, Juventus finally plays in the "Allianz Stadium" but their training ground is called "Zebre Training Facility" still.

Bugger, it was appearing fine before
I'll have to release a new version to fix this. Soon, hopefully
Thanks for both of these
@egbertjan, the VVV Venlo stadium has " -" behind what I think is the correct name. Would I be right in inputting just ""Covebo Stadion - De Koel"??

First of all, thank you for this tutorial, very cool! :^)
Then my question is:
In dbc folder, there are 2 files (removed.dbc and watford.dbc) who are not mentionned in the step 3...
I have to delete them or do I let them into my dbc folder?
Thanks for your future answer!

On the official site https://www.superliga.rs/ Super liga is written everywhere like this Linglong Tire Super liga written with a space. Same for the Second level Prva liga

They were added in SI hotfix 20.02, which was released after the first version of this file when I took the screenshot I'll update the screenshot when the game is released since it could be that other files are added by then. Leave them there for now

The UEFA Europa League 2 is showing with the correct name?
I have been told it is implemented in fm20, and starts from 2020/21 season (or 21/22). However, I have not yet gotten that far in my save...

It's there from the start and easily visible. It's in there as the Europa Conference League, as demonstrated in one of the screenshots to the file
