York City, once a familiar figure in the English Football League System, now slumb it in the Vanarama National League North. After achieving back to back relegations that saw them slip down two divisions, it's time for the club to rise from the ashes and start climbing the football league pyramid once again. I'll go through all club history and facilities in my next post.

This post will serve as a management achievements post and I will post all my success below as we try and get them to the top of world football.

Management History

2019/2020 // Vanarama National League North - 1st (Champions) // FA Cup - Fourth Qualifying Round // FA Trophy - 1st Round
2020/2021 // Vanarama National League - 2nd (Lost in Playoff Semi-Final) // FA Cup - 1st Round // FA Trophy - 4th Round
2021/2022 // Vanarama National League - 1st (Champions) // FA Cup - 1st Round // FA Trophy - 2nd Round

York City: Club Overview

This is a post where I'll quickly just go through the club history, the facilities, and finances. I may do this at the start of every season to see if we are making any progress on and off the field, but for now, I'll just dive right in and get going with it.

Facilities

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/4DYmdesPGR54FlIIsSxqKU8yD47zkas3S3tFR7BV.png

We play our home games at Bootham Crescent which has been changed from the ever favoured Kit Kat Crescent. Bootham Crescent houses a massive 9,196 people with 3,409 seats inside. During normal home games, the capacity is downgraded to 7,192 for some reason. The stadium is in a very poor condition, and this is something that will need looking at as we try and climb the leagues. The pitch condition is ok, but for the style of football I want to play, this will have to be improved too. We have a mixed bag of facilities, with a 'Fairly Basic Corporate', 'Good Training Facilities' and 'Below Average Youth Facilities'. All will be changed along the way as we start the journey.

Finances

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Pb1rsZhN8AAefPj45d4ZwjmzJpoWqAWPjL2oPwYr.png

Finances at the club are fairly healthy with just under £200k in the bank. We have a massive £5k transfer budget, and a cool £18k wage budget. We will see what I can do with that in terms of bringing new players into the club, but I'm fairly optimistic I can get a few good deals through the door.

Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6cWpwtPyYVAEoZBprj1U5MWTYRr15iOpjB77BxkX.png

This is the squad that will be at my disposal for the opening campaign. We have a lot of good quality players already on board but could do with a couple of players to add to the squad depth. Our best player is Dan Maguire and the striker will be key to any long term success at the club. Nathan Dyer is the best youth prospect, as at the age of 18 he is already a first-team regular who can grow with the club.

PRE-SEASON 2019/2020

Friendlies

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/V0GooPrk0dO67NGlpgSHn1yqfPbiINaBk9syrD29.png

We kick off with our first update, which is summing up all the activity that has happened in pre-season before the 2019/2020 season kicks off. We have played a ridiculous amount of friendlies, a grand total of 10 in fact. I usually don't take pre-season friendlies into account that much, but we have actually played some ridiculously good football and it makes me excited for what lies ahead. Our record during pre-season was:

8 WINS, 1 DRAW and 1 LOSS.

We managed to beat higher-ranked: FC Halifax Town, Tranmere Rovers and Cambridge United. Beating teams in a higher league will always be a good thing and shows that we can win difficult games, even if they are only pre-season friendlies. Our only loss of the friendlies was against AFC Wimbledon but I wasn't expecting a win to be honest.

Transfers

I've been delving into the transfer market, but more specifically the loan market and have pulled in a few gems that will only add to the squad and improve what we already had.

Billy Crellin // GK // Fleetwood Town // Loan

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/V0GooPrk0dO67NGlpgSHn1yqfPbiINaBk9syrD29.png

Billy is one hell of a goalkeeper to have at our club. He's by far the best keeper in the league and is definitely too good for us. He's here to gain match experience which he wouldn't get at Fleetwood Town and I'm more than happy to help him develop and then return to Fleetwood in the near future.

Michael Tonge // CM // Free Transfer

Michael needs no introduction. He's played at every level of English football including the Premier League when he played for Sheffield United & Stoke City. He may be 36 now but he brings some much-needed experience and know-how to the team. He may not play every game but he will definitely be used in rotation and will be key when games come thick and fast.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/XeBdryT24bW6yVm5Yk2yUiBg7MwAH5p11o1cVq7f.png

Yoan Zouma // CB // Bolton // Loan

Yoan is a brilliant loan signing. He's come in from Bolton to gain experience in the first team. He's a beast at the back and will use his pace and his strength to bully the opposition strikers. He will be starting from day one and hopefully, he can form a good relationship at the back with Steve McNulty.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/O8UcA2FoCJZCaUVLQMYYScstDfSfLBV8MDJ2mHEy.png

Chiori Johnson // RB // Free Transfer

Chiori is a youngster who hopefully will provide a bit of competition at the right-back position. He's quick and he's talented. I hope he can improve and improve at the club and become a club icon in the future.

We've been made favourites to win the league this year and go up as Champions. I, myself wouldn't accept anything less than this as the quality in this team is definitely too good for the league we are in. That being said, we can only beat whats in front of us, and we will have to take it one game at a time.

@A11_Smithy, thanks for taking the time to read and comment mate. We're still unbeaten but have looked a bit dodgy at times so it will be a task to beat Steve Watson. I'll give it a good go though.

@r96Skinner, Cheers matey, hopefully, it can be a successful one.

@Dan, I've never had any problems with the BETA, so hopefully, no bugs for me. Hoping to keep this story going for a while and see where we end up. I'll be keeping an eye on your career as well as @Shedender as, as you said, we are on similar paths.

August 2019

Vanarama National League North // Blyth Spartans // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/WjynhUKoIY7z6bgdz1KnK2d2807VUUGNtE8cJlhs.png

We opened up the league campaign against a Blyth Spartans team who are the bookies' tips to go down. We showed them why we are the favourites to go up as we demolished them 5-0. We dominated from start to finish. Alex Kempster notched two goals, whilst Kyle McFarlane also grabbed 2 on his debut for the club. Andy Bond the roaming midfielder grabbed the other.

Vanarama National League North // Kidderminster Harriers // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/i5sCyaNFP0amQKMYyVc1dN3Y5yfjTVSfgVZtUjho.png

Our first away game of the season came up against Kidderminster Harriers. We carried on our form in the opening game as we scored another hatful of goals in a 3-0 victory. Another clean sheet for the new boy Crellin is also good news. Kyle McFarlane netted twice more to take his tally to 4 in 2. Alex Kempster carried on his fine form from the left wing as he grabbed another too.

Vanarama National League North // Kettering Town // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/zjwzwn60n2ocihr8ZnpriP07bSgWFmXdtFSCEbMJ.png

We made it 3 wins out of 3 as we sent Kettering Town home after a 2-0 victory. I gave new boy Michael Tonge his debut after he needed to gain match fitness. He repaid my faith and scored an absolute screamer midway through the second half. Kyle McFarlane continued his fine form as he scored the other goal and we climbed to the top of the tree.

Vanarama National League North // Southport // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/nmW6h4kEU3ZyfFOgshuNfN8fL1uzC5D0ZP0WwzMN.png

Our first goal conceded and our first dropped points. We didn't play poorly, but we didn't play well. Southport went ahead early in the game after they caught us on the break and it wasn't until the 82nd minute until Kyle McFarlane popped up and scored an equaliser from a long ball. His pace is frightening and I'm looking forward to seeing how many he can score this season. 1-1.

Vanarama National League North // Brackley Town // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/eR3up0orxQAzAdiTR3hb9qzGInzJ3tbI8rLqhtpg.png

We put our past performance behind us and ground out the 3 points in the next game against Brackley Town. Journeyman centre half, Steve McNulty grabbed the winner from a corner in the 64th minute and we held on reasonably comfortably from there on in. I'll never turn down 3 points on the road. 1-0 the final score.

Vanarama National League North // Darlington // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/THQL1lvfgjNznr3SFkdP27sAAt1wAtW0FyknvXXf.png

We rounded off the month with a 2-2 draw in a game we had no right in claiming any points from. Darlington was the better team and went 2-0 up within half an hour. We fought back well and Kyle McFarlane netted twice more to bring his tally to 8 in 6. His 88th-minute equaliser was an absolute scorcher.

League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/P1boBRA98C6fTPkZdnEGEICP6TegzCGHCVfSkz01.png

We sit top of the tree after my first month in control. Altrincham are right there with us on 14 points too and it's going to be interesting to see where we end up. It's going to be a tough long season but we've started off brightly and I think we can continue this form a little longer. Our goalscoring potential is scary and we already have a goal difference of +11.

4 WINS, 2 DRAWS and 0 LOSSES.

Player of the Month

Kyle McFarlane
(6 Games, 8 Goals, 1 Assist, 8.02 Rating)

Kyle has started off the season in blistering form and I hope this continues. His pace is scaring defenders and his finishing has been second to none. He's on pace for a staggering amount of goals this season and will be key to our success.

Vanarama National League North // Kings Lynn // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/tB4d0ZHme1LgAVqUX3zhr7zpJSkkNe3iPMglfZFg.png

Another 5-0 win to start off the month. We stormed to victory and we never looked like losing this one. We were 3-0 up inside 15 minutes, and 4-0 up within 17. By half-time, our scoring was done at 5-0. Kyle McFarlane continued his fine start to the campaign and notched up 4 goals to add to his personal tally. He's quite frankly insane. David Ferguson the left back got the other.

Vanarama National League North // Hereford United // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gPzChc2WpNz5DcpiNC7Eue7MGB5xbB6oLUQdw0qt.png

Another game, another win. This time it was much closer as we ground out the 1-0 victory. 3 points is 3 points and I'll never turn them down. Wes York was the hero today, as he started off a run of games that he will make his mark in. This was his 50th career goal as well.

Vanarama National League North // Chester // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/SQIPPiwdYirpN7hQfRWTee4cTWzL77DadePkXFGc.png

We made the trip to the historic Roman city of Chester and came away with a hard-fought well-earned point. We got a little bit lucky but I'd say a point was deserved for both teams. Crellin in our goal was the hero as he saved a penalty that would have put Chester 2-0 in front and with no way of coming back. It was through a penalty ourselves that we drew level as Elliott Durrell slotted home his first of the season.

FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round // Bamber Bridge // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/rw9Tx4ao8Qu9beiZbEEaWMpo9vbPxNZUj7Q4UvHE.png

Our first taste of the FA Cup and we like what they offered us. A comfortable win against lower-ranked Bamber Bridge. Kyle McFarlane put us ahead before Wes York grabbed a brace to send us through to the 3rd Qualifying Round where we will face Scarborough Athletic.

Vanarama National League North // Boston United // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/cWCvjscLy2UDfz4ytc3oQzTwCp3rC098likJxw48.png

We are starting to drop points, but at least we aren't dropping them all. A point gained is definitely better than a point lost. We travelled to Boston United and went ahead after Wes York powered home a superb volley from the edge of the area before Boston pegged us back in the 77th minute. We should've won the game and it's probably out most disappointing game so far.

Vanarama National League North // Bradford Park Avenue // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/JzjQugTqmpx6DNkp4Hpyfl6fLKDHUldfaUyWszab.png

We visited the bottom side Bradford Park Avenue in what should've been an easy victory. What we actually got was a quality game of football and a point. We twice went ahead through Michael Tonge and Wes York. Tonge's goal could possibly be goal of the season as he dipped a looping shot right into the top corner from 35 yards out. We could do with learning how to hold onto a tight lead if we want to win this league.

League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/WKvt1Qc4ytrL6oXgMfzPB1OeqCrUkf0Vd2V2opd0.png

We're still a top of the tree and have managed to pull out in front a little as we have gained a point lead on Farsley who follow us closely. Our goal difference is insane as we are now +17 which is way ahead of everyone else. Can we hold onto the top spot for another month?

2 WINS, 3 DRAWS and 0 LOSSES. [1 FA CUP WIN]

Player of the Month

Wes York
(6 Games, 5 Goals, 1 Assist, 7.46 Rating)

Wes has been fighting for a starting spot all year and he got his chance. He's taken it with aplomb and is now our starting Right Winger. His goal-scoring potential is perfect for a winger and he's showing it.

October 2019

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/rgDTfjvXHbKMad9KV2WBpLczcg57GXT3ukfVAt8n.png

I decide to bring in a new face to freshen things up in the squad as we hit a bit of bad form. I also fell out with my 36-year-old centre-half Steve McNulty so he is not sitting in the reserves with no playing time. He's arrogant and thinks he knows best. In comes:

Martin Onoabhagbe // CB // Chelmsford City // Free Transfer

Martin comes in like I said to freshen things up. He's quick, strong and has huge potential to go on and make it in the high echelons of league football. I can't wait to blood him in and see how he performs alongside Yoan Zouma.

FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round // Scarborough Athletic // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/CWDyD2SLhOsu9bBh7JHdHVAqQwkZIlF8ZI6DdcUK.png

We were drawn against another lower-ranked team so I expected another comfortable win. That is exactly what I got. Kyle McFarlane once again showed why he's the best striker in the league as he notched up 4 goals all during the first half. We took our foot off the gas in the second half and Macauley Longstaff added the 5th to our total. An easy win, and we progress into the 4th Qualifying Round.

Vanarama National League North // Spennymoor Town // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/k1ZvA1MFbHjtvLpyqLeWy2pZ52a6a4wrUmKSSsKi.png

Our poor form in the league continues as we are really struggling for form now. An 80th-minute winner for Spennymoor ensured they sent us home with 0 points. It was a close game that could have gone either way, but today, it didn't go with us.

Vanarama National League North // Gateshead // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Hdn8MHquF9bpP2t6w3ksZw5l1StGhSXmc3dakihg.png

We were back home for the first time this month, and we scraped a draw with a Gateshead side that was climbing the league. We went behind in the 15th minute before Andy Bond scored a howitzer to secure us a point in a 1-1 draw.

FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round // Harrogate Town // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/DOahYYOOPv3dgYbRnDESfaLssxIeLCRhw9EByL8l.png

Unfortunately, we exited the FA Cup at this stage, which is slightly disappointing. Wes York scored a good team goal to put us in front. A lead that we fully deserved, before 2 goals before the stroke of half-time put us behind at the break. We couldn't manage to grab an equaliser despite a lot of pressure and that was that.

Vanarama National League North // AFC Telford // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/f8DSBrwLoRNOC1k3WtCV0LvTVDahZjsUPD2jZlzP.png

Our first 3 points of the month, and pretty decent performance to go along with it. Kyle McFarlane opened the scoring with a deft header after a pinpoint cross. We went 2-0 up after Kieran Green slotted home from close range. A minute later, however, Telford managed to pull one back to make sure it was a tense finish. A massive 3 points to ensure that we stopped the poor form.

Vanarama National League North // Farsley Celtic // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/fWUZRTShF02oYjVITIPGYGrybSYYtFnPWPJylgVF.png

Two wins in a row! Massive considering our poor month. This one was as easy as it could come. We went 2-0 up with goals from Kyle McFarlane and Kieran Green, but once again a minute later we were pegged back by an absolute stunner of a volley. Kyle McFarlane put the game to bed with a well-timed header to ensure the 3 points were coming home with us.

Vanarama National League North // Curzon Ashton // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/LwGYTU9Kob8Q4KA0didJkMDadDFgDFzZ0c5ahQSX.png

We ended the month on a bad performance and 0 points. This was the worst game of the season and we were never in the game. Curzon took the lead in the 55th minute and were so comfortable for the rest of the game. A disappointing way to end the month.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/p6PAbr4NA2dDgvJyraVw4jGCM4Bu44mHDorPihDU.png

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gj5FISaJn7iWfJuFjH0L2HR0sg6XSQDGIIOWqJcJ.png

A poor month sees us lose pace in the title race. We were top, but now we lie in 2nd place with teams below us having the chance to leapfrog us if they win their games in hand. Kidderminster Harriers occupy top spot and could go 7 points clear. A massive gap at this stage of the season.

A very good way to start the month off. 3 points and a 3-0 victory against a very good team. Kyle McFarlane scored a brace either side of half-time before Paddy McLaughlin added a 3rd in injury time with a delightful curled effort into the top corner. Excellent performance and a great way to start the month off.

Vanarama National League North // Alfreton Town // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/YHtr6E2wk3K6CtDgXVetn0ke8KIqz2srSp5596gJ.png

Alfreton are a team that's doing very well in the league and provided a tough test for us. We just about edged it out there, but we couldn't find the finish to give us the deserved 3 points. Still, a point against a playoff contender is always good.

Vanarama National League North // Leamington // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/R9y2Dc0saJUrf1t8UqSMAR5PeuWEK6Ix9OyTzIka.png

What a game this was. It had literally everything! First of all, we shouldn't have even been in this game in the first half, as we were blown away with possession and attempts on goal, but somehow we only went in 1-0 down. We pulled it level through an Andy Bond header, before going 2-1 down. Paddy McLaughlin equalised for us before we took the lead in the 84th minute through the main man Kyle McFarlane. I thought the 3 points were ours, but Chiori Johnson earned himself a red card which left us with an uphill task to keep all 3 points. In the last minute of injury time Leamington struck an equaliser to earn a share of the points.

FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round // Berkhamstead // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gQI7QiXvhba1PhGp0lLjFahDv5mIbD97qxv2sYku.png

An easy win, in a competition that I want us to go and win. We have a real shot at winning it too I think with the firepower we have. Anyway, Kyle McFarlane grabbed a brace as well as Alex Kempster with Andy Bond netting as well. We weren't troubled and we move onto the 1st Round Proper.

Vanarama National League North // Gloucester City // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/sPjvPxVP2AayN77aj5KaNuuakkcky62vm8jrLvFF.png

What a win to end the month! You can't ask for more than a 3-0 victory. A clean sheet is as important as the 3 points. Alex Kempster, Andy Bond and a first goal of the season for Yoan Zouma earnt us the points on a day where we didn't need to get out of 2nd gear.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/qRTbfjNrLpNDij4SR4zAupusDOCn38iDCbILBCTg.png

A decent month results-wise sees us stay in contention at the top of the league. Kidderminster Harriers still lead the way, but we have pulled it back to be within 6 points. Our goal difference is still superior at +24. Alfreton Town are still their level on points with us providing pressure.

Good player is Bondy, just don't get him on penalties he fluffed one today and got us knocked out the FA Cup

Going well this season though pal, Kiddy are definitely the team to beat, very good footballing side and very creative, honestly I'm not sure how they didn't go up last season. Great job getting Kyle McFarlane scoring, he looked positive but has been loaned out to Stratford for a month as he's not getting game time past any of our other strikers. Here's hoping Kiddy trip up some time soon or it could be a tough playoff battle

@A11_Smithy, Bond has really stepped it up and has become the main man in the middle! Shame about his missed penalty for you lot today though! McFarlane has just been insane! I expected more from Burrow but McFarlane has made up for him!

I always try and make sure that we win our opening game of the month, but we couldn't manage that this time around. Guiseley provided a stern test and we came through it to gain a credible point. Wes York fired us ahead but we conceded just before the stroke of half-time to go in at 1-1. It stayed this way until the final whistle with few chances in the second half.

FA Trophy 1st Round // Chester // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/R3qwcXkmKmnHehluAdqO8QtsCRWcGjTfsbMg1NOx.png

A 92nd-minute winner for Chester sent us crashing out of the FA Trophy! It's a devastating way to get sent out of a competition but I would have been delighted if we had scored a last-minute winner. We had been in the lead after Andy Bond had scored just after the restart. We had handled the pressure Chester was piling on us really well until they equalised in the 82nd minute before they made us pay and scored the last-minute winner from a free-kick. Gutted, but we can now concentrate on the league.

Vanarama National League North // Kidderminster Harriers // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Mz09zkMjIjHzdZoPmf8UVBPKsvPoXO2L37Z4DIw9.png

A MASSIVE WIN! What a performance from the lads to dig deep and come back from a goal down against the league leaders! It was end to end stuff, and we responded excellently to going 1-0 down as Sean Newton fired home 6 minutes later! We pressed on and managed to force a winner through Macauley Langstaff! Scenes in the stands and scenes on the pitch! What a win that could turn out to be!

Vanarama National League North // Brackley Town // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/9TDyqfGn0o7nmy82sK0t3BeRa6mWXHypJ3WiQttq.png

We kicked on from the impressive and important win against Kidderminster and eased to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Brackley Town. David Ferguson marauded down the left-hand side and smashed an effort into the top bin. Wes York slotted home one on one to make it 2-0 before Kyle McFarlane added a 3rd to seal the game. We did, however, concede late on but the game was already over by then.

Vanarama National League North // Blyth Spartans // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/hHtp7vFkuG33lErIlN8uY2TLZVQOZzJYMp9tCfzW.png

We made it 3 wins in 3 as we struggled to a win against a determined Blyth Spartans. We went down in the 56th minute but grabbed a goal back through Kyle McFarlane before going gung-ho and piling the pressure on. It paid off thankfully, as Martin Onoabhagbe smashed home a loose ball from a corner to grab us 3 points.

A much better month sends us back to the top of the table, with Kidderminster sitting 2 points behind, but with a game in hand. I can already tell it's going to go down to the wire, but we are top and that's the important thing at the moment. Goal difference is still increasing and now sits at +28!

Vanarama National League North // Southport // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ig5xeDm7BewJC7GqRZVgxgZqlz0kVIJPQxlZ2CTR.png

3 points in the bag, against a difficult team to beat. Southport have been surprising teams all season but sit near the bottom of the league. We turned them over on their own patch and came away with the 3 points. Alex Kempster started off a fine month of scoring in the 45th minute to give us the lead at the break. Macauley Langstaff finished them off late in the second half with an acrobatic volley to make it 2-0.

Easy as you like from the boys! 4 goals and 4 different scorers! Alex Kempster opened proceedings in the 1st minute, and it got better in the 9th minute as Andy Bond passed a shot into the back of the net. Jordan Burrow ended his goal drought in the second half to my relief and Kyle McFarlane rounded the keeper to round off the performance and make it 4-0.

Chester are becoming my bogey team. I can't seem to find a way to beat them. We scraped a draw in this game. The most pleasing aspect was that we kept a clean sheet once again. Crellin is becoming such a good keeper, and I'll definitely be looking at either extending his loan or signing him on a permanent deal in the Summer.

Another game, and another Alex Kempster goal. He had a bit of a quiet time midseason when he wasn't scoring, but he's back and he's back with a bang! His goal in the 15th minute proved to be the match-winner! A great month, and an unbeaten month.

It couldn't be closer at the top! We've slipped to 2nd in the league, but only because we've played one less game. If we win, we go back top courtesy of our massive goal difference! It's going to go to the wire.

Billy Crellin
(4 games, 0 goals conceded, 7.01 rating)

Billy Crellin has been outstanding between the sticks this month and hasn't had to pick the ball out of the back of the net once. He's been assured, and has made some top, top saves! What a month!

Definitely agree with you, I can't seem to get Burrow playing this year or last year. Tell you what though superb result against Kiddy, as VP said shame about the draws, if not for so many you could be, to quote the more confident city fans, "p-ssing this tinpot league" if you ever manage to get one over on Chester though do tell us how you did it they're a flipping nightmare to play against, fair play to em.

@VP. draws are the bane of my life. A point is better than none though, so there's that at least.

@A11_Smithy, Burrow has been a star this month so maybe criticising him publicly has worked ha! Chester are always difficult to beat, so at least the game is lifelike. Cheers for keeping up to date man!

Vanarama National League North // Hereford United // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/4ctyvG2F5svTsR5b0IOzavHornOgbMYLkbKdiGsk.png

A tricky game to start with, and we've come away with a decent point, to be honest. It was end to end, but neither of us could convert a chance. A draw is definitely a fair result and fair play to Hereford for sticking to their gameplan and executing it perfectly.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/k63G5gZ278X75QUgyK8z63IAa9ccQ8hmgp2L0Ylh.png

Back on form with a tight win against a decent team. An absolute peach of a strike from Andy Bond put us ahead in the 44th minute which is arguably the perfect time to score. We went in ahead and went further ahead when Jordan Burrow header home from close range to make it 2-0. 2 minutes later through an own goal from Yoan Zouma gave them a lifeline. It was close fought until the end but we just about held on and gained a vital 3 points.

Vanarama National League North // Kettering Town // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1wn02S54UHOUwZqTNj3Nu1rcOGl62za1kx9VH2gX.png

Another win gives us another 3 points. We were comfortable for most of the game. Jordan Burrow netted a brace in the 35th and 73rd minute. A Paddy McLaughlin penalty in the 70th minute was the other goal in a 3-1 win. We move onwards.

Vanarama National League North // Bradford Park Avenue // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xLOenpqGh2afv2pkcZv7lBaitDDzOeSWHnvpka7V.png

Another game in which we comfortably gained 3 points. The scoreline suggests that they were involved in the game, but in honesty, we were all over them. Jordan Burrow put us ahead, followed by 2 Alex Kempster goals, both absolute corkers. Kyle McFarlane netted the other as we march on towards the league title.

Vanarama National League North // Spennymoor Town // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/cCyXeDYJjfMH9pgSQCY2bkFRTzSOTNOWIHSrVcbQ.png

Glen Taylor is becoming a thorn in my side. He scored again as Spennymoor came to town and waltzed away with a victory. We actually went ahead as Jordan Burrow fired home for the edge of the area. We couldn't keep our advantage as we conceded once before the break, and once after which ensured that Spennymoor stole the 3 points away from us.

Vanarama National League North // Gateshead // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/kWI68FU8bxgdgBUHOIGgZe8tf2jibBsMv8vvm2u5.png

We rounded off a good month with a narrow victory against a struggling Gateshead. Macauley Langstaff put us ahead with a superb volley from a tight angle. Kyle McFarlane also netted to put us further ahead before a last-minute consolation goal for Gateshead was struck. A good win to end a good month.

We've got a gap at the top, but it's a slim one and one that I'd like to be bigger at this stage of the competition. It's definitely a two-horse race between us and Kidderminster Harriers. We've been the two outstanding teams this year and it'll come down to a final couple of games. We sit on 71 points and KH are on 69 points. We have the superior goal difference though with a massive +40 compared to KH's +22. Could it come down to this?

Jordan Burrows
(6 games, 5 goals, 0 assists, 7.01 rating)

Jordan has been under fire this season and has struggled but he's come big when we needed him. He's score 5 goals in 6 games and has won us games when we looked tired. He's improving and hopefully, he can continue to score all the way to the end of the season.

What a way to start a new month off. A massive victory and one that drags us closer to that league title. All of our dangermen contribute with Kyle McFarlane opening the scoring on 14 minutes. Jordan Burrow netted the second with a well placed shot into the far corner. Alex Kempster added the third before Kyle McFarlane finished the job off when he scored the fourth with a powerful header. A nice, easy 4-1 victory.

Vanarama National League North // AFC Telford // Away
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/tLtEhPUyIFQmVMkHXPk7JQmEKkjUj6jODRS1SZUq.png

A point away from home at this stage is definitely something I'd take. Telford isn't an easy place to go, so to keep the points rolling in is important. Although we didn't score, we held firm at the back and I'm happy with how we played.

Vanarama National League North // Altrincham // Home
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ttDHzHo0z9MK7B6xJCHzMPUFQJJn2Mkb4AbCHjiQ.png

Altrincham are a very, very good side in this league and matched us in every department. We had a couple of efforts off the line which was frustrating. I think this counts as points dropped in the grand scheme of things but just like with Telford, it keeps the points rolling in.

Vanarama National League North // Farsley Celtic // Home

We round off the month with a solid performance and an easy victory. 3-0! Only 4 games to go now, and looking good. Kyle McFarlane put us ahead on 2 minutes before Andy Bond slotted home a penalty in the last minute of regulation time. We added a 3rd in the 92nd minute through Alex Kempster.

The gap is still 2 points at the top of the table with only 4 games to go. We've got an OK run in and I think we should win the rest of the games but nerves are definitely going to be a factor. Kidderminster are still hanging around and will be looking to pounce if we slip up. Concentration is key...

4 games to win the league title. We started off well by winning the first, with a late goal from super-sub Dan Maguire. I was beginning to think we wouldn't get all 3 points but we plugged away right to the end and we got what we deserved. A point would've been credible against a very strong Alfreton team but 3 is definitely what we wanted. A good start.

2 out of 2 so far this month and we played fairly well in this one too. Alex Kemspter marauded down the left-wing and fired a low shot home into the bottom corner to spark massive scenes from the stands. Could this be the game won us the title?

@A11_Smithy, Kidderminster Harriers went up via the playoffs, so the two best teams deservedly both went up!

Above, you can see the whole squad and their stats for the season. A fair few of these players definitely won't be with us next season as I've decided to let their contracts run out. The most notable include:

Steve McNulty (we fell out, and I have no time for him, so bye.)
Dan Maguire (just didn't get enough game time, and had a fairly high wage)
Adriano Moke (like Maguire, didn't play much, so saying goodbye now)
Sean Newton (probably the player who performed best for me that are leaving, he's getting old.)

No prizes for guessing who gets the coveted: SortitoutSI Player of the Season Award (catchy name eh). Drumroll please....

Kyle McFarlane

Of course, it's the main man himself, Mr Kyle McFarlane. On his way to winning this award, he scored a massive 34 goals for the club this season. He also lead the assist charts showing he wasn't as greedy as you would think. He's just played out of his skin and has set a number of records in doing so.

Finances at the club don't look too pretty at the moment. We started off with a very healthy balance but I didn't exactly manage the wage budget too well. Never mind, but for now, we sit in a massive debt which I think is inevitable for a non-league club. Hopefully, we can start to attract some more fans and pull some extra income in. I'm not too proud of this section ha.
