had placed a bet pre season that he would leave spurs before the 19/20 season finished.....but didnt think he would be sacked
timing is bizarre, something has happened at the club for sure
Tommy Hughes
When the sacking didn't happen right at the beginning of the international break, I thought it wouldn't happen until after the next one or two matches, at the earliest. Seems I was wrong. The timing was surprising indeed.

something has happened for sure, timing is crazy do it as you say and have 2 weeks nearly for new man to get settled
IMO Poch has said to Levy ''back me or sack me''................
Dan
well that escalated quickly

Holy smokebombs, Batman! That was super fast.
I can't see much sense in the hiring of Mourinho, unless Levy has suddenly changed his principals and is willing to sacrifice long-term stability and sensible financial planning for a shot at (possible, not in any way guaranteed) some sort of brief spiked spell of success within the next couple of years.
Also, why would the board/owners/Levy deny their long-term manager with a steady vision (Poch) the financial backing he asks for refreshing the team to keep it hungry, inspired and competitive - and now hire a new guy who is sure to expect allowance for big money moves to reshape the very core of the squad?

To me, being within touching distance from silverware, is the closest you can get to give yourselves a shot at winning it. I bet lots of teams would like to get into a CL final, and when Tottenham got there "they lost the final, so it was a failure". It's a matter of perspective really, and a steady climb in the right direction is much better than a risky effort to dash and jump for to the summit. That's what I'm vary about with the appointment of Mourinho. And I'm not even a Spurs fan. But I have been admiring their sensible approach to gradual improvement and re-building and the positive club culture that has been the result of it. Hopefully that culture will not be dented in the near future. And hopefully Mourinho can actually prove his doubters wrong and show that he's done some self-reflection and renewed his way of managing a football club.

Levy must have been in talks with the toxic avenger for sometime by the looks of it
poor Spurs fans I wonder who will become Jose's scapegoat...lloris/winks

Footage of me thinking about 15 years of abuse directed at Mourinho

I can understand a short term appointment, its an experienced squad with lots of the type of players he could do well with
however the bigger picture to me is it will end as it always does and spurs will be right back to where they were so is it worth it for me its a NO
I understand Poch going to an extent but not the timing or the Jose appointment, seems a non Levy move this.....he has brought in a manager who will have a hissy fit if he isnt given a king's ransom every window to spend so the relationship between those 2 will be toxic pretty quickly I would guess
bmg033
Everybody is saying this and Jose will have known what he was signing up for when it comes to Levy. All I can think is that either Jose has accepted he has less money to spend or that Levy has agreed to spend more to help convince him to sign. If I had to guess, I'd say we're going to spend more based on Jose apparently earning double what Pochettino was on, that doesn't seem like the sort of thing you'd do if you weren't going to open up the cheque book a bit more often. Of course I could be completely wrong but at this point almost nothing surprises me with this club.
kingrobbo
we will see soon enough ...if Levy opens the cheque book as you say for Jose but didnt give Poch the cash for a few windows then IMO thats madness
as Jose has always just invested heavily for short term success with older/proven expensive players...when he goes the clubs are left with huge wage bills and unable to ship them on
so for me I would rather have given Poch the cash as he has brought in players for the long term project within the Spurs Parameters ....it might not have got stale then and to the point where Poch has gone

Don't go scaring the Spurs fans like that!
kingrobbo
and then follow that up with the 'big' signing.......
kingrobbo
we laugh but its going to happen Utd want rid probably a loan to buy deal
though spurs have got dier a junior super tanker in the making
Eric Portapotty
Ahahaha you're still around
In any case he'll definitely win them a trophy while leaving them worse off in the end (Jerome Boateng added to their stable of 30+y/o defs anyone?) but Levy's probably going to use the fact that they're no longer trophyless as leverage against that inevitable shitshow.
