This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.

Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.

The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2020 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach managers have fake names. These are all fully save-game compatible.

There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file

STEP 1.

Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2020\data\database\db\2000

depending on your set up.

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.

You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down

For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.

For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

Slightly more detail in this post

STEP 2:
COPY the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the downloaded pack

STEP 3:
PASTE them into each of your respective folders mentioned in step 1.

These are what the respective folder structures should look like in the 2040 folder:

dbc: https://i.imgur.com/je40Ajx.png
dbc/permanent: https://i.imgur.com/1FH8ABp.png
edt/permanent: https://i.imgur.com/aat5BqX.png
lnc: https://i.imgur.com/a87Z77C.png

STEP 4:
COPY the 8 files located in the EDITOR DATA FILES folder in the downloaded pack

STEP 5
PASTE to
\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\editor data

\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\\GAMEPASS\editor data

Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:

Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2020’

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.

Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Sorry - the player update.
the file that contains information to change where a player is playing, where a manager is managing etc - data update file?

It doesn't appear to have been started yet, but what's that got to do with this file?

Does any one know if this patch works on the iPad Football Manager Touch version?

Thanks.

Hi all,

Thanks.

I don't have FMT on iPad, but I believe it should. The only things that will not work are the club names, for which there is a workaround in the first post

The name of the training ground is JTC and not J village (which is the name of the whole area) https://www.juventus.com/en/club/jvillage-project/

Anyway, as always, amazing work mons! Thank you

An earlier version of this file included those competition colours, or ones very close to them, but it meant that the Metallic logos didn't display so well, so I changed them around...

The Euroleague metallic logo will change to a version with white text in the next update

This file solved the problem I had with Juventus 3rd kit that didn't appear but I still have the same problem with Atalanta's one (I tried many different kits)

Thank you for your amazing work

Thanks for these, will be included in the next version of this file. I'll have the former as Juventus Training Center instead of JTC for added info

Good to know, but it still won't display well on a dark background so a clear background is better in these cases

That's got nothing to do with this file, I'm afraid. Something like that would be fixed by the FM20 equivalent of this file. If you want to fix it yourself, before starting a new game, load the editor and add the 3rd kit to Atalanta

Do you already know when it will be more or less? At least after I'll start my save

Thank you for the reply

I would like to see "Juventus Turin" and "Juventus Turin U23" instead of "Juventus F.C." and "Juventus F.C. U23" in game and amended your file, but when I start a new game it shows "Juventus Turin" as I want but still shows "Juventus F.C. U23" - is there anything else to amend anywhere instead of club details?

You need to also edit the Juventus U23 entry, not just the senior team

I opened edior and loaded your Juventus fix file, selected "Juventus F.C." and changed name in details to "Juventus Turin" afterwards scrolled down on the left, selected 2nd team and changed name of "Juventus F.C. U23" to "Juventus Turin U23" - saved the file and started a new game with it.
New game shows "Juventus Turin" for first team but still shows "Juventus F.C. U23" - is there anything else to amend anywhere instead of club details?

Does this also fix the German National team as on my save it appears to be fake players.

As explained in the main post, if you apply this download in the middle of a save-game, then the German national team will be populated when teams are called up. If this does not happen, then you will not have installed the files correctly. I would need screenshots of your 2010/edt/permanent and 2010/lnc folder

No idea, works fine at my end so I suspect you may not have installed this download correctly. Can I have screenshots of your editor data folder?

I have uninstalled the game again and it works fine before I put any files in editor data, I will try adding files again then message you if it continues.

I'm confused. Everything regarding this file looks in order and it works fine at my end, so I don't know what could be causing the issue.

I see you have some graphics installed, can I see your graphics folder in case there's something wrong there?

All looks well there too

Can you move the Juventus fixes file from the editor data folder to the desktop, start a new game and see if that solves the issue?
