[FM20] Windowed Mode Doesn't Stay After Each Restart - General Discussion - FM24

I have always played previous versions of FM in Windowed mode with no problems.

However, in FM2020, the game always starts in Full Screen mode even though I set it in Preferences to Windowed. It reverts back to full screen mode every time after I start the game. Is this a known bug or is something amiss on my system?

I checked my FM2020 window_mode_settings.xml file in AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\Preferences\version 3\ folder, and this is all it contains:

and comparing it with this windows1.xml in my previous FM2019 game:

It appears that lots of settings values are missing/not saved in the FM2020 window_mode_settings.xml file.

Can anyone please help?

Try verifying game cache in steam, this will redownload any files that may be missing/damaged.

I've done that. I've even deleted the fm.exe and re-verify to download it again.

this happened to me in too are you using a custom skin??

if so revert back to the default one save and exit game
if using one of the default skins swap to one of the other options -dark/light/default

reload and change back to custom skin and no issues since

if no joy back up/copy the folder in appdata re SI FM20 and save it in different location then delete the folder in appdata and load game you will have to set preferences etc again but it should cure this

Edit: Went back to full screen mode again...

Unfortunately~ Problem came back after 2 restarts.

By the way, I'm not using custom skins. just the stock FM dark skin with sortitout face and logo packs, with kits.

That's bizarre obviously do same thing again but pop over to SI forums they may have a resolution
