The European police agency has revealed that a wide-ranging investigation into match fixing has uncovered more than 380 suspicious matches.

These games include Word Cup and European Championship qualifiers and two UEFA Champions League games.

Europol's chief Rob Wainwright said the investigation uncovered "match fixing activity on a scale we have not seen before."

Wainwright revealed the probe uncovered around £7million in betting profits and £1.27m in bribes to players and officials and has already led to several prosecutions.

The investigation identified about 425 corrupt officials, players and serious criminals in 15 countries.

Wainwright also stated that the involvement of organised crime "highlights a big problem for the integrity of football in Europe".

It was not immediately clear how many of the matches mentioned have been revealed in previous match fixing investigations at a national level in countries including Germany and Italy.

The Liverpool Besiktas game that ended 8-0 didn't it? Also I remember some really fucked up game with Zagreb I think it was.

I'll bet my life on this match being one that was fixed, I'm still bitter about it. Just watch the video, united got away with so much that day it was ridiculous.

When your team are on the receiving end of refereeing decisions like some of those it's infuriating.

For a start that falls outside the investigation period, secondly that wasn't in the Champion's League.

09 is the start of the period so the obvious example is Barca vs Chelsea 2009 but, lets be honest its not gonna be that.

The fact that it's only 1 game suggests it was the away team rather than the home, and the maximum amount of money one by an individual (£121,000) suggests this was something like fixed yellow or red cards, minute of first throw in etc...

Will be much more like the Spot Fixing scandal in Cricket than fixed results.

You know when they say match fixing, it's boring shit like betting on when the first corner will be right? Shit like this.

Aye, that's the same stuff Claus Lundekvam was on about, but as it's just the one game in England I think it'll be a properly fixed result rather than stuff like that.

Surprisingly, I think there's only one game in Italy they've picked up on but Germany's the worst with around 70.

Apparently the match in England was Liverpool vs Debrecen which finished 1-0 to Liverpool. The fix was that the Debrecen keeper was supposed to concede over 2.5 goals but Liverpool were so shit he didn't get the chance. hahaha
