Vieira? Really?
VP.
Petit want's Vieira and reckons Ljungberg will do crap, which basically says to me Vieira is his mate and he doesn't like Freddie.
I want Howe or Gerrard personally.
Grimnir
I am surprised at how little Howe has been mentioned. Good call imo.

Lampard aside, when do we ever really hear of any young English manager getting the rewards for doing brilliantly with a smaller club.
Wierd really as our (English) young players can be largely overrated but our managers get very little credit whatsoever.

Maybe its just the time of year. Usually see a few dismissals in late autumn/early winter but the last few seasons haven't quite been so intense as this one felt.
Lower PL is indeed our level (sadly, for someone who can remember top 5 finishes when younger) but poor seasons in the PL with Hull and Sunderland, and a messy time at Villa did make me a bit twitchy.
The cynic in me could suggest some of these results are one we might've had with Benitez. But equally, we have responded very well to an atrocious display at Leicester. 3 wins against teams we've had an iffy record against along with a double comeback against Man City, off-colour MCFC finishing or otherwise.

Hardly shocking after their 5-2 derby defeat!

Ole knows how to set up to defend, it's why he only managed a draw against an Emery team who was similarly cowardly.

Clearly. Their midfield was oddly passive when they played at St. James' Park, which is a game where I think they would've been expected to dominate the midfield space.

As a United fan, I can safely say we run you guys close for that honour. United's wins against the top teams makes it look better than it has been, absolutely diabolical against the 'lesser' teams; lost to four of the bottom nine (+ Newcastle when they were down there), drawing with four of the other five!
Eric Portapotty
At least you lot had the highs of beating the top sides, we've had fuck all to be positive about so far
Dan
And then lose to bottom side Watford.

Standard. We are set up to counter (not defend as some utter plank suggested) and if they give us the ball then we can't break people down due to a lack of both pace and decisive passing

I know, meanwhile, its almost a cliché at this point to complain VAR is being used to take offside checks to ludicrous levels, but Christ alive this round of fixtures has taken the piss.

Saw this tweet earlier and pretty much sums up VAR with handball:
They really do just interpret the rule for however they feel on the day. Or to help Liverpool of course.

I can also see a similar attempt to kick PSG out the Champions League, given I seem to recall similarly serious allegations were made by Football Leaks about their financial conduct. Whether it is acted on is another matter.

Quite something the scoreline in this photo from 2015 was the same score of last Saturday's result. A result I'm still perplexed happened, even if I did think Liverpool's first PL defeat would come to a team outside the usual top 6.

Yup. Imagine how cursed Liverpool would feel if, to top up all the slip-ups and misfortunes and so-close-and-yet-so-far situations of recent years, it were announced that there will be no Premier League winner this season. Yikes! With the lead they have it would be pretty unfair IMO.
The relegation battle zone, on the other hand... no team deserves to go down based on the table at this very stage of the season. And there are three teams courting the 18th spot that have the same exact number of points, but Bournemouth has the worst goal difference (by a single goal compared to Watford). Once again, yikes!!
