This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2020 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach managers have fake names. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.
For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

I'll fix it for any forthcoming releases of this file, but that looks mostly an SI data issue so it would be a good idea reporting it in the data bug forum over on the official forums

Step 2/3 say to copy and paste the downloaded edt and a couple other folders into the previously acessed places. My download is just one file that I can't seem to see separate sections ie edt within. Anyone know what `i'm doing wrong? Thanks
mons
Download Winrar and use it to open the file, and you will be able to see the various parts of this download

Par exemple, le LOSC en surnom est les Dogues et dès que je met le patch, il y a plus de surnoms. Quelle est le problème ? merci !
Hello, I have a problem when I install the license patch. When I delete the Inc, edt and dbc files and replace them as indicated, the nicknames of the French teams are deleted. ?
For example, the LOSC in nickname is the Mastiffs ( Les Dogues ) and as soon as I put the patch, there are more nicknames. What is the problem ? thank you !

Open the file named City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc within the lnc folder. Go to the section which starts # France (in French)
You will notice that all the entries in this section don't have a hashtag (#) before the "CLUB_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE" bit. Add it manually yourself, save and close the file.

Make sure that your dbc/permanent folder is the same in the 2010, 2030 and 2040 folder as it is in the screenshot in the main post.
22764636
the .rar contains 4 files in the dbc/permanent folder but now in my game folders I have more than 4 files, not sure if that's intended
mons
Remove the dbc/permanent folders in your PC and put the ones from this download instead. Your dbc/permanent folders shouldn't have any other files in there other than what is in the screenshot.

Have I interpreted this mod wrong or is it supposed to fix the fake staff names as well?
If so, it's not working for me. CL / EL Club names ect. have right names, but coaches and other staff still have their fake names. Feels weird seeing a guy named Jean-Paul Toulliou with David Trezeguet's head for example. Even players who became staff just this year (like Andrea Barzagli) have fake names... Is there a fix to this?
I've tried the fix when changing the "#" thing in the "City, Club and Stadium Names" file as instructed.
Or is the only solution to start a new game?
mons
To fix the issue with Juventus staff having fake names, you have to have this fix in place before starting a new game.
2040 only should be enough, but you might as well do it for all the others
Rasmus Edetun
Alright, thanks
poskatala
I have downloaded, installed correctly this fix. I'm playing in second division spanish. The name of the division is not "La Liga 2", but "2nd division". Same shit for "La Liga", "1st division"... Someone have the same problem ? thanks
mons
Then you haven't installed it correctly.
Make sure the lnc folders on your PC look exactly like the screenshot in the main post. If you think they're correctly, please post screenshots for your 2000, 2001, 2010, 2030 and 2040 lnc folders

Everything seems fine there. When did you install the fix? If you installed it now and have FM running already, you'll need to exit FM then re-open the game for the changes to be effected.
Do you have any other editor data files in place other than the ones from this download? If yes, can I have a screenshot of your editor data folder?
poskatala
Installed with the 20.4 patch relase. And then, started a new game in spanish 2nd division

I can't see anything wrong there
And you have closed down FM and reloaded it, right? If yes, can you start a new game and give me a screenshot of the page when you select the various leagues? Select a good amount so I can see if the issue is related to the Spanish league only or also to other leagues.
Also, what do the Champions League and Europa League names look like?
JANpechanec
I found some wrong names of stadiums, competitions and awards for Czech Republic in FM2020.
In the attachment you will find screens. In the screens are already correct names.
Please fix the wrong names.
Thank you,
Jan Pechanec.

Can you send them as an attachment or in a comment on here? You've written them down already, it makes little sense for me to have to spend a lot of time to transcribe them manually. Thanks.

Champions League = Coupe des champions (Champions Cup)
Europa League = EURO Cup
