Manchester United. The quintessential falling-giant. Having dominated the Premiership/Premier League for 25 years, it has become more and more apparent that this was down to one man. Sir Alex Ferguson. Other pretenders have come in; from the "Chosen One" David Moyes, to the "Iron Tulip" Louis van Gaal and even a try with the "Special One" Jose Mourinho. Each had their own ideas and each one failed in their mission to get Man Utd back on their perch. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the right idea, but is making a pigs ear of it.
It's now time for me to step in and restore the ethos and traditions of Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. Promotion of youth, English talent and try to avoid those big money purchases. Let's knock Man City and Liverpool back off their f***in perch

Personally I think the Man Utd squad is worse than ours (just) so a fair bit of work to do. If I was in charge Pogba would be first out the door

Cheers. Your recent Arsenal exploits actually encouraged me to do this one. TBH, the amount of money you end up with, it's easy to buy whoever you want, but to maintain a certain ethos and culture, that's the challenge.
Pogba is an arse, but he's perfect for the CM role I play. If he makes one complaint he's off, that's exactly what Fergie would do. Nobody is bigger than the club.

Oh yeah, the squad aren't great. Bruno is a great signing though, he'll play well tucked behind the striker.

The dawn of a new era, as lifetime United fan and a relatively unknown player has taken the reigns of the famous Old Trafford club in a bid to get them back to where they belong.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/mpcNYQlkM6c4Qmy7maN3KDYqb2k7JBdlhnDgKQXa.png

The chairman wants the club to use the youth team and play exciting football. I can absolutely promise that. I plan to use the United wing play of old, though I'll be deviating from the two up top that Fergie was so famous for and play an attacking midfielder behind a main striker. Attacking full backs are a must, in the vein of Neville and Evra. If only I had a bitey midfielder in the shape of Roy Keane.
The board are happy with a top 4 finish which gives me plenty of time to pull the team together, though I'm secretly harbouring ambitions of a top 2 finish.

The team are not strong, notably at the back. It always feels like there is a lot of depth, but just no quality. Before we look at any signings we need to think about offloading some deadwood. If he wasn't injured, Eric Bailly would be the first to go but I can't see him leaving in this window. Phil Jones is a victim of the "best defender in the world" tag bestowed by Fergie and I'm willing to do what no other manager wanted do and show him the door.
The other leavers will be Nemanja Matic who plays like a man in his late thirties rather than early thirties and to follow him is Andreas Periera. I know he's a United graduate, but I feel like he offers nothing apart from flexibility in the midfield, an attacking John O'Shea if you will.
With only one playing up top, this is nailed in for Rashford with Mason Greenwood providing back up. Failing that, I will send Greenwood on loan and keep Ighalo as back up.

As a united fan myself i'll be following this one closely. McTominay can be the bitey midfielder you are after, obviously he's not in keane's class but still a very good player. No mention of selling lingard? He would be the first one out the door if it was up to me

I think McTominay can definitely provide squad competition, though I've got half an eye on Damien Rice. Lingard's on my shit list, for being a knob if nothing else, but he might be of use so we'll see. Pogba and Shaw can jog on if they start causing problems too.

Following the recent appointment of a new manager, no time has been wasted in further adding to the backroom team.
Highly rated coach and ex-journeyman Paddy McCarthy has left his role at Crystal Palace to move North and take on a first team coach role at Man Utd.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7xD222vZyXlsNzcqctcmVYogiMCySDAxljgYW6Ji.jpg

The long awaited and desperately needed Director of Football has been found with the appointment of 66 year old Les Reed, following a decade of stellar work at Southampton bringing through youth and helping to dig the club out of League One. Reed's short term goals are to identify youth who can move into the first team and maximise profit for those that can't cut the mustard. This fits in perfect with the renewed ethos of the club.

And a return of fan favourite Robin van Persie with his first non-playing role as under 18 coach, stepping back into Old Trafford for the first time in 5 years.

And so it begins and I'm impressed he's complained a week into my reign. We've had a chat and told him he can leave if we don't qualify for the Champions League. I'm confident he'll stay, but if Real/Barca etc. come in for him, he can go. I need players here who care for the club.

Both sides were crippled for this game due to international duty, but this is where City's squad strength bit them as all but John Stones were unavailable. United meanwhile had a second string team with seasoned players such as Rojo, Fred, Lingard and Mata available. The game also saw debuts off the bench for James Garner and D'Mani Mellor to great fanfare

A bitter sweet day for Man Utd fans as they celebrate Antony Martial being named French Footballer of the Year at the same time as 6 year club man Juan Mata hands in a transfer request as the window opens, due to a lack of playing time. Mata has been unable to dislodge Bruno Fernandes in the side, which has lead to the decision for a move to pastures new. A £10m move to China has been mooted with the United faithful sad to see the Spaniard go.
Martial on the other hand looks committed to the cause, spearheading the United attack with 21 goals in all competitions.

The first incoming transfer of the new manager's reign is the £47m signing of Left Full Back, Lucas Digne from Everton who will look to provide searing pace and delivery from the left flank. This inevitably leaves question marks over the United career of Luke Shaw.

With £40m sloshing around in the bank and bereft of a first choice LB, Everton were in the market on deadline day. Luke Shaw wasn't being guaranteed first team football, this was probably the most sensical signing of the window.

Mid-Season Update

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1CZQOjJYW1cJZrqFFKbx65j3MLEpC2lOj4aj6Lrq.png
The team have been punching way higher than they should be. Dean Henderson is performing great at Sheffield United and I'm keeping a real eye on him for next season. Academy player Axel Tuanzebe has spent most of the season as first choice CB alongside captain Harry Maguire and has come on leaps and bounds. Another graduate, Brandon Williams, keep Luke Shaw out of the side all season, eventually leading to his sale. Fred has unexpectedly stepped up in the centre of the park, rotating with McTominay and Pogba. The real surprise is up top, with Martial banging in the goals, shunting Rashford out wide. Expect Real or PSG to sniff around him in the Summer.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/a5tLn8VotHtzafesNEc2lLbOIYu7ZkooemIqGH2q.png
Second in the league with 3 games in hand is beyond what I thought the team would achieve, with bookies having us finishing 5th. Europa League has been a cake walk and I expect to go far. League Cup, an exciting final with Liverpool on the horizon.

And with that is the first trophy in the cabinet in this new era for Man Utd. Liverpool fought a hard game and deserved the win here, but a last gasp goal from Anthony Martial in the dying seconds of extra time was enough to give the Manager his first taste of silverware.
Already the faith in youth is beginning to pay off, with academy graduates Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Angel Gomes all standing on the pitch at full time.
