Kevan Grundy just gets better and better - is leading England to World Cup glory next??

This group look quite easy and proved to be even easier: I guess you cannot wait another year for the tournament to start.

He's an unbelievable player and I feel proud that I gave him his big break back at AFC Wimbledon.

Switzerland are hot on our heels obviously so we need to still keep focussed and make sure we do the business so we finish top of the group. England didn't qualify for the last World Cup in 2022 after finishing second in their group and being beaten by Holland in the playoffs. The World Cup before that they came as runners up and in 2020 I believe they won the European Championships.

So our last game on home soil before the World Cup in Mexico went really well. We played old foes Argentina who are regarded by FIFA as the best international side in the world. Well I'm not quite sure FIFA have a clue what they're doing because we absolutely thumped them and the 7-2 scoreline could have been much worse for them had we taken all our opportunities on the night at Wembley.

Argentina out, Brasil out - is Spain next? You looked really good, although the last two games were tough.

One question: did you arrange your friendlies on your own or the FA did it for you? Pakistan, Aruba and Gabon are not the highest profile friendlies for England.

I don't know if we can beat Spain, they're an unbelievable team and it's going to be very difficult.

As for the friendlies I arranged them, wanted to get a few wins under the belt, test a few players and get some momentum going so thought picking those sides was appropriate. I think Gabon were ranked about 35th in the world at the time of that friendly and they were the highest team available for a friendly at the time.

So we'll contest the final with Holland after a pulsating affair against Spain in the semi final. It was a game that went back and forward with both sides having their dominant phases and then the sending off happened.

Thankfully we took full advantage and Kevan Grundy proved the difference as he scored twice and setup two.

What an emotional ride this World Cup final was... We had our chances to win in normal time and then extra time but didn't take them, so when penalties rolled around I feared the worst. In the end I shouldn't have worried as Jack Butland saved the first two penalties the Dutch had and we scored all of our spot kicks, midfielder Nick Powell netting the winner and sealing the countries first World Cup in 60 painful years.

Certainly felt like we were playing a final every single game after the group stages.

We were probably slightly fortunate to beat Spain and no doubt the red card was probably the difference.

Thanks man

No plans really, only plan I do have at the moment is to try win the European Championships in 2028 on home soil. After that we'll see what happens, maybe head overseas, not sure....

So the next challenge has arrived and keeping with my philosophy of offering 100% commitment to a cause I've resigned as England manager with immediate effect. The goal for my first season at the French giants is to finish mid table after their very poor start which currently sees them sitting in 16th spot. My personal goal will be to transform the club into the dominant force in France ahead of Lyon and Marseille whilst also trying to take on the best in Europe in the Champions League, a competition the club have never won.

He truly was a freak but he was my freak and I loved him. He is now the all time leading goalscorer for England with 74 goals in 74 international appearances, he's fucking amazing, best striker in the world.
