Recently I have become aware of a number of web sites that are hosting copies of my 3D kits that I have created and uploaded.
While flattering to have my work published elsewhere, I would still like to have some control over where it is being displayed. I have only ever given permission to 3 sites, including Sortitoutsi, to have my files available for download.
So far I have seen my files on Italian sites, some site called FMReligion, and today a Chinese site. Some, but not all, have taken these files from Sortitoutsi which must be a breach of Sortitoutsi's terms and conditions.
I have put literally 1000's of hours of work into these kits and my posts always have the tag that says not to post anywhere without my permission but clearly, this is not enough.
Is there anything that can be done to stop these sites from stealing our work? Is it even worth uploading to Sortitoutsi when you have no control over where your files will appear?

Hopefully he can suggest a solution.

I agree with your frustration, but there is very little which can be tangibly done about it. At best, you can get in touch with the respective website and ask for them to be taken down since they do not have your permission.

I agree with this assessment of what can be done. We can't use any money on layers and if we did they don't have legal jurisdiction on let's say China. Many companies that deal with psychical products have the same problem with "pirate copying", and there is really very little that can be done about it.

yes as you say its a sad fact that there are some complete sleezbags out there in terms of users who download a file and then pass it on as their work, some even try to get financial reward from a file they downloaded for free (I have had it happen to me several times and so I have mostly stopped creating files)
the issue is worse IMO with some sites too who turn a convenient blind eye to this issue if they took down and banned the user/s doing this then there would be no problem
we have had some people trying to do this here but the thread gets removed and the user dealt with, sad to say not all sites do the same thing
if any users has evidence that someone is doing this here please contact staff or report the post immediately

You can file DCMA takedown notices and contact the hosts of the websites in question, who will likely then contact the owner and demand resolution. This would of course be more difficult with foreign language sites.
If you need help making such requests we can try, but we can't actively monitor the entire web for every individual file uploaded to sortitoutsi.
