I saw a photo of Gramado in southern Brazil and I was fascinated by the similarities of this region with Germany because I thought it was cool how something so German could be found in a place that I never knew had German influence remotely.

I am currently in the process of creating a new nation for the southern region of Brazil (Santa Catarina, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul) and I would like to ask if anyone has ideas or suggestions to add to make it more realistic.

Graphics I've done for the country:

  • New nation called "South Brazil"
  • All cities in Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina are now in South Brazil
  • All South Brazil teams now have South Brazil as their "Based Nation"
  • German, Italian, Hunsrik German, East Pomeranian German and Brazilian Venetian added to the national languages of South Brazil
  • Hunsrik - defined as the official language in the regions listed .
  1. Antonio Carlos
  2. Santa Maria do Herval
  3. São João do Oeste
  • Players born in the south of Brazil have changed their nationality to "south-brazilian", unless they already have an international cap from another country
  • Diaspora players who have German and Italian surnames now have a second nationality corresponding to their surname
  • German and Austrian players treated as non-foreigners in southern Brazil
  • South Brazilians treated as EU in Germany and Austria

In the future I intend to make a league for the south of Brazil, but I am not sure about the correct structure to be used, so for now I will only publish the download for just the nation of south of Brazil

I used reserve teams to fill the leagues and test it .
I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to remove the big teams from the Brazilian championship, like Grêmio or Internacional.

My idea for structuring the South-Brazilian leagues is to populate them with teams from the lower leagues (below Serie D) and reserves from larger teams like Grêmio and Internacional.

I tried to create a league like this, but I kept getting errors when I removed too many teams from the Brazilian lower divisions.

Hey man, have you heard about “O Sul é Meu País” (The South is My Country)? It is a small separatist movement that calls for the independence of the southern region of Brazil. Here are the movement flag:

In the past there a pre-season regional league (Copa Sul, later Copa Sul-Minas), with around 12-16 teams. In addition, if you add the first division of each state championship, you will have at least 36 fully-professional teams. If you consider the lower divisions of each three states, there will be more 60+ semi-professional or short season professional teams.

For non-brazilians, here are a little trivia about the european inspired cities in southern Brazil:

Oktoberfest in Blumenau, Santa Catarina

  • Some brazilian clubs has european roots (Portuguese: Vasco da Gama, Portuguesa); (Italian: Palmeiras, Cruzeiro); (German: Grêmio FBPA, Coritiba)
  • Thiago Cionek, from the Poland National Team, born in Curitiba.
  • GK Alisson Becker has german descent
  • Notable brazilian people from german descent: Dunga, Gisele Bündchen, Gustavo Küerten
  • Notable braziian people from italian descent: Rodrigo Santoro, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Felipe Massa, Alessandra Ambrósio

Yes it really amazed me when I first heard about it too.

This may or may not be the documentary you are referring to but this is a nice little documentary about a small town in the South of Brazil called Walachai where the people speak mostly German and live a humble village farming life.

I never knew that! That is really interesting, I will have to read about it further to learn more about this separatist movement.

I will also look to include their flag into my designs for the country because before you mentioned it I didn't know it existed. For my other designs I just used the old German flag combined with the colonial emblem of Brazil which was used on previous flags.

>if you add the first division of each state championship, you will have at least 36 fully-professional teams. If you consider the lower divisions of each three states, there will be more 60+ semi-professional or short season professional teams.

Also that seems like a great idea. Thank you!

I am Brazilian.
There is a movement to separate the south of the country.
The names suggested by the movement are: Brasil do Sul, Brasul, Estados Unidos do Sul, Confederação Sulista, Pampas do Sul, República dos Pampas, Araucânia, Iguassu.

I think the name Brasil do sul is cooler. However, I think the name they would choose would be Araucânia or Iguassu

Another important information to give you some idea:

The “O Sul é meu País movement” was founded in Curitiba, Paraná, but currently the movement's headquarters are in Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul. Once again, there are plenty of opportunities to choose the capital of the new country. - and there are those who defend the choice of a city in Santa Catarina, to stay in the middle of the road.

I believe that one of the 3 cities would be the capital

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to set your capital city in the game. It used to be a feature but they don't give you the option to do it in the editor any more.

I will just have to set the national Stadium as the makeshift capital city.

I got a copy of FM 21 today so I'm going to start working on releasing the nation but updated for FM 21.

are they just teams from Rio Grande do Sul?

Its the teams from Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

In my FM21 version I made it so Italian and German regens appear in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina and in Parana they also get Polish and Ukrainian regens as well as Italian and Germans.

Here's a map of the 3 states.

Parana is in Yellow - Santa Catarina is in Green - Rio Grande do Sul is Red
