Yes, you can.

You can also change it in the middle of a save game using lnc files, as long as they weren't edited through the editor prior to starting a career.

Well this is good news.    So how do I do that?

  1.  Is it a new notepad.inc file I create & add it to ‘editor data’?
  2.  Where do I find the I.D. no.? Club name change

"CLUB_NAME_CHANGE" [ClubID] "[Intended Club name]" "[Language]"

e.g. "CLUB_NAME_CHANGE" 45015071 "N-League All-Stars" ""

I'm not experienced with any of this stuff.  Can you jot down some easy step x step “how to”instructions?

use Mons' LNC file in the real name fix thread

 C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2021\data\database

open the 2100 DB and the LNC you see  open it in notepad ++

search for the club by name or unique ID eg Newport is 581

change it to what you want and save change

now copy that 2100 LNC folder you edited and use it to replace all LNC folders in all of these

Oh-oh.  I'm lost at step 1.

x86 > Steam > steamapps > sourcemods only folder in here.

No sign of “common\Football Manager 2021\data\database”

The game is a DVD.   And yes.  Save Launched.  Day one.  And Steam's involved somehow.

Oh-oh.  I'm a pensioner taking up FM to while-away the time.  I cannot find the folders where to adjust team name.

Can find anything like the location in the help thread

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\tools\football manager 2009\data\db\900.

or

My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\db\DATABASE_NAME. Then for EDT and DDT files go to the edt folder and put them in there

Here's my dead end locations.   What am i doing wrong?

nothing wrong with that

I wasnt aware the disk option still existed assumed it was all via direct download now

but once you loaded the game its all via steam so there is no  reason why you do not have the path as outlined earlier in the path
