UEFA Away Goals Rule

Hi Guys,

As you know UEFA changed the away goals rule. I got support from the guides and tried to change this rule but I couldn't. Can someone change and upload? (Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, EURO Qualifying)

I have even set up a European template so you can use that as a base

I have set up 2 set of rules for UEFA/Non UEFA European Club comps[I have a non UEFA ESL set up where the dirty dozen are banished to as they are banned from UEFA comps -if only UEFA had the balls to do it the FAs too👍]

 Its just a matter of copying my initial rules for a comp/s setting the end date to 2021 then the 'new rules' to start 2021 with away goals rule abolished in KO rounds

or just staring the away goal rule change from game start with no need to duplicate whole competitions

thats all you need to do is remove the last 3 ticked options there

you need to do this for each knockout stage for each UEFA comp

its via dates tab of each round-and it will be match day 2 only and match rules

Thank you very much for helping. I imported the template you uploaded. But Champions League and Europa League have two different season rules, which one should I change for next season?  I read all the things you shared but my english is not very good and this damn editor is too complicated 😢 Can you upload the rules you changed for the UEFA Competitions as a file?

you need to change both set of rules if a comp has more than 1 set it wont take long 

my file is set up as I want it and has little bearing on the current UEFA European structure

 the UCL has only league winners there are more comps to encourage minor nations/clubs increasing their coefficients etc

 and there are detailed rules hammering the elite clubs from being dominant as they are IRL so you would be editing that file for hours to get it to resemble the current UEFA set up and if you are not familiar with advanced editing you could find yourself down a rabbit hole 

it also ties in with other files I use together with this so it may make the game unstable if not used all together

Poor decision by UEFA this will encourage away teams in 1st leg to play safe and go for the draw, then in the 2nd leg they get home advantage for any extra time

yes I feel thats the danger possibly more negative football as even a defensive team usually had a go at the end to sneak an away goal now just shut up shop away and try and get it done in home leg

make the higher ranked team play home first IMO

Thank you, I followed what you said and removed the away goals rule.  but there is a new problem 😢 registration rules in uefa tournaments are completely removed (I used the editor template you shared)

yep you have to set them up read the faq thread I use match day rules as squad registration in continental rules has been bugged for years

you could try changing rules to flexible format rather than fixed might get squad rules to work have a go

It would appear that what I read regarding the rule change was not a detailed one from sky sports-

The rule change goes beyond the knockout rounds it also covers the group stages too. Obviously there cant be extra time or penalties😉

 the rules to sort teams finishing on equal points in a group are changing as it is now H2H is a factor UEFA have clarified these will be removed for the 21 /22 season onwards so you need to remove these three  rules as they are H2H criteria

How does the group stage work?

The 32 teams compete in a double round-robin format called the group stage. The group winners and runners-up advance to the round of 16, the first round of the knockout phase. The teams are ranked by points. Three points are awarded for a win, one point is awarded for a tie and no points are awarded for a loss. According to UEFA, if tied on points, the following tiebreaking criteria are applied:

1. higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question.

2. superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question.

3. higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question.

4. higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question.

If after having applied criteria 1. through 4., teams still have an equal ranking, criteria 1. through 4. are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the remaining teams to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria 5. through 12. apply in the order given to the two or more teams still equal.

5. superior goal difference in all group matches.

6. higher number of goals scored in all group matches.

7. higher number of away goals scored in all group matches.

8. higher number of wins in all group matches.

9. higher number of away wins in all group matches.

10. lower disciplinary points total based only on yellow and red cards received in all group matches (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, expulsion for two yellow cards in one match = 3 points).

11. higher club coefficient.
