I've been receiving a number of requests to add a new feature to the Data Update which will allow an optional alternative update in which all transfers are set as future transfers with the real date the transfer occurred.
This means that if Paul Pogba joins Real Madrid on January 17th the update will leave Paul Pogba at Man Utd but with a Future Transfer dated January 17th 2022 rather than instantly changing his team to Real Madrid.
This will be an optional alternative data update that will not affect the main Data Update.
Todo List
In order for this to happen the following changes need to be made.
Issues that need resolving
The following potential issues will need investigating and this feature will not be released unless they can be resolved:
Feature Status In Progress
At present it is unlikely this feature will be released until solutions to the above issues are resolved.
Tommy Hughes
Excellent idea!
Footygamer
Any thoughts on solving the issues listed?

all the points are a problem
but any future transfer fee is fine as no money moves between clubs with any future transfer it is a flaw that has been in the pre game editor editor from day one it has been pointed out to SI many times
when I do my own file for future transfers I use the IGE to update budgets accordingly thats the best way to deal with it
loans are not doable as future ones thats when the IGE/FMRTE comes into play! but doesnt solve your issue
personally I do not like the idea of a ‘future transfer’ being moved to a club immediately it gives the ‘Big’ clubs a triple hit eg they have bought players for 21 /22 in real life, they get their 22 / 23 seasons transfers in as well, and still have their budget to spend so a big no no for me
its tricky but it depends what you can compromise most with and for me its future transfers being just that
Tommy Hughes
Oof, those are difficult issues.
The -1 budget setting sounds pretty alright, compared to future transfers suddenly causing a save-ruining bankrupcy of a major club. Especially when this file would be an optional one.
The loan issues would also fall under forced compromises. I cannot think of a better way off the top of my head, but will come back to it if I think of something useful.
In any case, the inventive attitude alone is worthy of some praise. It's clear you want to keep improving the Data Update further, and that is wonderfu to know. This community and its staff are really something special.
Footygamer
@wfm18 any contributions?
I'm not sure how to handle the loans at all right now.
wfm18
I think the answer is yes. If someone signs a contract in January for example it is still OK to have that in the game from August (start date save) onwards. The only thing that is not realistic is the last date contract signed, sinceI think that will be automatically updated to 1/7/21 if it is a later date? Anyway, I wouldn't overcomplicate this part.
Do you also want to include transfer fee into the feature? I think that is not needed and this is something we need to test. So we could setup a couple of fake transfers and see if Barcelona buys 6 players for 300 million if they face problems or not (although Barcelona never faces problems with spending too much money, just kidding 😛slightly_smiling_face:. Could also be that we set the transfers to a 0 fee, which is unrealistic but also happening if you start with the player transferred to your club immediately of course.
Loans is the only big issue, I'd say that these would go the same way as the other data update to not overcomplicate things. Then there is a bit more realism in transfers which I think is the most important aspect (since they really switch clubs, while loans are temporary).
As an example, Okoye from Sparta Rotterdam will join Watford I believe this winter, but will be loaned out the rest of the season. If it includes a loan, I'd do the same as the original data update. Okoye joins Watford on 1/7/21 but is loaned out the whole season to Sparta. There is - I think - no other way to handle this correctly. When a player joins on loan next season (let's say Gavi is currently playing for Barcelona but gets loaned out to Sevilla next year), this would then also mean he'd play not 1 but two seasons on loan. Although that is not 100% realistic, it's probably still the best solution and an OK compromise in my eyes.
Concluding, I think to have a bit more realism with the future transfers setup is already a good step forward, and probably the maximum we can offer with the restrictions on future loans.

Any update on this yet @Footygamer?
Footygamer
We need people to be adding the “Date Contract Signed” field when making a transfer otherwise this won't work.
If it's not there it will have to default to the date of the submission which may not be accurate.
Tagging some people who have been making transfers but leaving "date contract signed" blank.

@LBOW6
@Ronaldo Fenômeno
@JoãoRatão
@SFL
To be clear to those tagged, this discussion is about creating an alternative data update where all the players have a future transfer set and don't move until that date rather than being moved instantly. In order for it to work, the date of the transfer needs to be included in the submission. It's currently labelled as “Date Contract Signed” which doubles as “Date Joined” when also changing the club.
Ronaldo Fenômeno
@Footygamer add this date in "Date Contract Signed" ?? (sorry my english, using google translator 😁)
Footygamer
I mean make sure to fill in this field:
LBOW6
Okay no worries - is this for staff as well?
Footygamer
Yep 🙂
wfm18
Example: This will be 01/07/2022 for future transfers happening next summer. It's the date that they will be officially at their new club.
LBOW6
Is there a way to change a current staff members role on a future date? The below got me thinking about this…
Footygamer
Added 🙂
LBOW6
Thanks - I’ve added Rangnick as Utd Manager with a future transfer to a different role at the club. Do we think this will work?
Also, is there a way we can add interim/caretaker managers as an option?
Footygamer
Interim/Caretaker isn't in the pre game editor is it? (It wasn't last year).
We can only add what's in the pre game editor.
And again, future transfer to a different role isn't in the pre game editor either.
wfm18
I think for the future data update, players that are released on 1/1/22 should be set to ‘leaves club at the end of contract’ instead of being released, right?
Footygamer
Yeah, no progress on this recently though.
Hablo
Wie erstelle ich einen neuen Player? Ich kann diesen Spieler in der Datenbank nicht finden und er ist am 01.01.2022 nach Bielefeld gezogen.
Gonzalo Castro - Spielerprofil 21/22 | Transfermarkt
This is an English forum, so please post in English. You've been asked multiple times now.
Don't know why he doesn't show up for you, he is in the database here:
https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-data-update/person/8723487
He's already updated to be at Bielefeld, so you only have to download it 👍

Hi,
I saw this thread when about to post about an issue with the update. At the moment, there seems to be inconsistency with a few transfers.
For example, on the most recent update version, Nathan Paterson and Vitaliy Mykolenko have both moved to Everton and appear at Everton at the start of a new save (Summer 2021). However, Ferran Torres has been moved to Barcelona as a future transfer in January 2022. This means he is still at City in game until the January.
Why the inconsistency across transfers? My understanding is that Torres should be at Barcelona in the same way Paterson and Mykolenko are at Everton. I have only spotted this with Ferran Torres but there could be others it applies to as well.
Thanks
Footygamer
I think this is just a slight confusion because he was announced before. Once he moved he should have been moved properly.
It's a bit late for it now, but generally I don't think we should do future transfers if a transfer is announced a week or two before the window opens.
But it can be confusing for some people, as we say we don't add transfers until it's fully confirmed and unveiled by the club, which it wasn't at the time.
I'll try to come up with an FAQ we can add to help.
Hablo
Tried again to find the following players in the editor's database, but I can't find them.
Gylfi Sigurdsson - Spielerprofil 21/22 | Transfermarkt
Benjamin Mendy - Spielerprofil 21/22 | Transfermarkt
mons
They're not in FM22, for obvious reasons.
Leeds1919
have you added the rapist Greenwood to that list?
mons
Why me? I'm not the guy who gets to decide if somebody who is awaiting legal proceedings should be retained or removed from the official database, for the simple reason I'm not employed with SI 😅
Leeds1919
To be fair the Governor at Strangeways prison is putting a decent side together, Mendy, Greenwood-giggs soon as manager?
