VP got away with it because he said it was inconclusive. Which I think is probably fair enough, it was a bit silly, but I don't think you can watch that video and say, even when you slow it down frame by frame, exactly what happened and what the intent was.
Tiote got away with it because Webb had already 'dealt' with it.
Pippadoc
Inconclusive, really??
There was no reason for his elbow to be that high in the first place when he was away from the ball and making a run into the box.
That ref 'dealt with it' rule really needs to be changed, they should be retro-actively red carding players for that kind of thing even if the referee didn't think it was that bad in real time. Even if it would have cost us a three game ban this time around.

So he let a Newcastle player off for stamping on one of our players but at the same time he's so pro-Man Utd?

Yeah but he also doesn't really throw it back at Cabaye at any real force. It's more like he brushes past him, with his elbow inexplicably at shoulder height than an elbow like the one Rooney got away with against Wigan a few seasons back.
Pippadoc
His elbows at head height !!!
Surely that's making it harder for him to run and get separation from Cabaye. I can't think of a single reason why his elbow would be that high apart from to hit Cabaye in the face. Just because he doesn't put a huge amount of force into it doesn't matter, if you raise your hit another player with your hand it's a red regardless of force, I don't see why an elbow should be any different (with the possible exception of when jumping for a ball).

YOU SAID THE S WORD. DON'T SAY THE S WORD.

I more suprised at Ninja's attempts to absolve RVP of blame
Ninja
We're arguing semantics, we're both saying the elbow is high.
But yeah, whilst you're right. I think that's the reason he's got away with it, I don't think he's trying to hurt Cabaye, there's no where near enough force for that, he just seems to inexplicably give him a little tap with his elbow as he runs past.
Which is why Webb said it was inconclusive I think, you can't really tell what the fuck RVP was trying to do.
Ninja
I'm not, I'm just saying how Webb could possibly have arrived at that conclusion. I wouldn't have had any complaints had RVP been banned for it, because it was a fucking stupid thing to do.
Pippadoc
Your calling it inexplicable, but it's not, it's just the only reason is he's attempting to make contact with Cabaye.
All I can find is that Webb decided on review it wasn't worthy of a straight red. In my eyes he was deliberately trying to hit Cabaye and it should be a red, but what's done is done and in context of the game it wouldn't have made too much difference I don't think.
Ninja
No I'm saying it's inexplicable because there is virtually no force.
And if he's not trying to hurt Cabaye, why is he doing that in the first place?
That's why i find it inexplicable, because I can't think of an explanation.
Abbott
Where did you come to that conclusion?
Ninja
Because of the lack of force.
If you were gonna hurt someone, you'd do it a lot harder than he did it.
That's what I find strange.
VP.

The difference is, I'm just offering a potential explanation as to why no action has been taken by the FA, ie because they rarely do for this type of incident.

Absolutely teckle chant.
I prefer this version, though:
The confused looks on the faces of the Madrid supporters make it.
