Good cuts @Fidney, but keep in mind that we aim to have the image cropped no more than 2-3 pixels from the chin while having a collar.

 

Since in some sources, the person in the image has a longer neck than usual or the collar is lower down, the above would be quite difficult to achieve naturally. 

 

Here's a technique of how the above can be accomplished quite easily by lassoing the collar and nudging it upwards:

 

 

Also, if the source is large enough, we prefer to have the cut in 250x250, though 180x180 is acceptable if it's a small or low-quality source 👍

Thanks for the advice @mons, will certainly try and do better with any others I make.

 

I only made the ones I did because I'm a bit of a completist and it bugs the heck out of me when I get silhouette faces in my squad or staff. When I bag the manager's job at a club the first thing I do is find real faces where I can - and in most cases the source images are far from the best (which I guess is why they were “gaps” in the first place). If I can't find real faces I even go so far as going into the editor to check skin tone and hair colour before selecting an appropriate image from my face-bank (genuine photos but not the real face for the person)!!

 

The ones I uploaded were for my current save and a few from previous saves that I still had lying about, and I decided to upload them in case anyone else found them useful (all uploaded ones are real genuine faces, none of them from my face-bank)

 

I've always made 180x180 because that always used to be the standard size, and hadn't twigged that it had changed to the larger size until you mentioned it. Annoyed with myself for that because the last bunch I did were nice big images even larger than 250x250 which I shrunk down to 180x180 just before saving!

I've had the time to look at them a bit more closely and the edges are a bit jagged. I've tweaked them a bit and will add the fixed versions to the forthcoming update pack 😉

 

Whichever method you're using at present, I recommend using remove.bg for your cuts. It's a fantastic free online tool which does the heavy lifting for you by removing the background in the source image, leaving you to only rotate, crop and/or nudge the collar upwards. It's tremendously easy to use and provides fantastic quality. With it, you can go from source to cut in a couple of minutes for the vast majority of images.

 

Here's a couple of videos on how to use it, one when combined with Photoshop and another using photopea.com, which is a free online app so close to Photoshop that it has the same shortcuts, layout and icons 😉 If you don't have Photoshop, photopea.com is the tool I would recommend to use to tweak the draft cut produced by remove.bg. It's more powerful and versatile than GIMP and other similar tools.
