This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2022 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs, as well as Manchester Utd, to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Another editor data file creates the Ajax non-playing staff and the German national team manager missing from the database due to licensing restrictions. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.
You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down menu

For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.
STEP 2:
COPY the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the downloaded pack
STEP 3:
PASTE them into each of your respective folders mentioned in step 1.

As stated by SI themselves, for Gamepass, however:
You are not able to change the user data location as such but you can use the user data folder in Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2022 to store facepacks and graphics.

By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2022’[/spoiler]
This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese and German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

I've followed the instructions and as best as I can tell everything works. Zebre is now Juventus, Man Utd is back, full names of teams in Brazil and so on. However, Juve stubbornly refuse to use the licensed kit. I've checked the kit pack and its there, and the number matches 1139 that in the database, but for some reason I'm stuck with the generic strips. Any ideas on what I need to do to get that fixed.

What do you mean licensed kit? Juve do not have a licensed kit by default so I'm not sure what you mean. This file does not include kits, Juventus or otherwise, so you would have to download a kitpack which includes it.
Can you give us screenshots of your editor data folder and your kitpack folder? So I can perhaps identify where the issue may lie.

I applied this name fix, and overall it's a huge improvement, but for some reason the Chinese clubs are back to their corporate names like Guangzhou Evergrande etc. Is this an oversight in the fix, or did I perhaps do something wrong?
I'd love to get rid of the sponsorship names just like they did in real life. Might make me want to finally manage in China.

I am not an expert on Chinese football, so I can't identify all the team names listed there, but corporate names have been disallowed and removed from all Chinese clubs, yes. Neutral names are required. To name a few, Guangzhou Evergrande are now Guangzhou FC, Beijing Sinobo Guoan are Beijing Guoan, and Jiangsu Suning were first renamed to Jiangsu FC and subsequently completely shut down after Suning (the corporate owners) pulled out and left the club in financial ruin.
So to answer your question, yes, they should be removed. It's obviously quite the controversial subject, but the “vanilla” names are now reality. You actually saw fans in China protesting the change, because they wanted to keep the corporate names (which to an uninformed European like me seems quite bizarre at first, but I suppose there would be outrage if the Bayer in Bayer Leverkusen was outlawed in Germany).

If you want to start a new game without the sponsored names, you can edit them yourself in the meantime using the editor by loading the Club Name Changes file and editing the names to your heart's content 🙂

To be honest, I only realised fairly recently myself. I was contemplating an Asian journeyman save, and while researching a bit about the interesting clubs out there, that's when I saw something had changed quite dramatically in China.
I've booted up the editor (for the first time). If for the sake of simplicity I just want to reset the Chinese clubs to their data from FM22's original database for now, is there an easy way to do just that?
I loaded the Club Name Changes file, chose clubs and filtered like this:
Nation: Is: The People's Republic of China
And: Number Of Changes: Is At Least: 1
That left me with 22 clubs which I assume are then the Chinese ones that have been edited via the file from this site. Can I reset those 22 changes somehow, or do I manually have to fill out names, abbreviations etc.?

You can go to the changes tab in each of them and clear all changes, then saving. That should revert each of the fields back to the default entries 👍

In the demo, it's a bit like applying it to a save game. The main post lists the fixes which work even after having started a save game and those which need a new game to be started, and you can see what's what from there 👍

You haven't installed it correctly. Apply steps 1-3 from the main post again. At the end of it all, this folder should look like the screenshot in step 3 👍

Hi there! I've installed the fix file correctly (all national teams, competition names, and club teams are correctly fixed) and played my save for 3 seasons without any error. However, in the current season, the German and Japanese National Teams failed to call up real players. I reinstalled the newest version of fix file and all other changes applied successfully, but not for the 2 national teams. I've waited a few national game windows but GER/JPN national teams were still populated with fake players..

Well I guess posting my issue here helped 😀 I skipped like 3 months and suddenly it worked! Don't know why they didn't call up real players before... but now it works as normal xD Thx mate!

You didn't follow the instructions right. In step 1, it says to delete the dbc, edt and lnc folder. You've deleted the 22xx_fm folder as well, which contains the game's database and which you shouldn't have done.
To get it back, you need to get Steam to verify the integrity of the game files. Then reinstall the files from this download, paying careful attention to the instructions 👍

I've downloaded the file and put the dbc, edt, and lnc files where I need to, but when I open the editor data folder there is nothing in there. Just wanted to know if this is a problem my end or something else. Thanks
