Tried this one but can't get it to a square because of the dimensions of the source, have a cut at 250x285 but breaking the proportions makes it look squashed.

What you then need to do is to use the canvas size tool to widen the canvas to become a perfect square, then use the image size tool to downsize it to 250x250 accordingly 😉
