Tuchel sacked

Chelsea have sacked head coach Thomas Tuchel.

 

The German, 49, has left Stamford Bridge just seven matches into the season, following a 1-0 defeat by Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

 

In a statement, the club have also said: “Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.”

 

Tuchel was appointed by Chelsea in January 2021 and had an immediate impact, winning the Champions League in his first season at the club.

 

In 2021-22, Chelsea reached both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup final as they secured a third-place finish in the Premier League.

 

Tuchel spearheaded Chelsea at a time of uncertainty for the club as Roman Abramovich departed as owner last season.

 

Chelsea were one of the biggest spenders in the summer transfer window, signing Wesley Fofana, Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling.

 

Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League and play Fulham on Saturday.

This seems like madness right? After all the backing they'll have to find a new manager that plays exactly Tuchel's system.

Rumours are that Chelsea want Graham Potter as his replacement - I hope he stays with Brighton, he has an attractive project going where he's backed by the owner and might (I know it's only September so it isn't a sure thing by any means!) qualify for European football this season. If he goes to Chelsea, who's to say it won't him a long time to get the team up to speed and Boehly loses his patience?

Potter would be mad to go to Chelsea. Brighton is one of the best run clubs with everything around him set up perfectly. Chelsea is the complete opposite of that.

He seems to be doing alright! Chelsea always have a mega selection of academy and reserve players which I reckon he can improve and get the best out of, can see him doing well there so long as he survives all the shit behind the scenes!
