This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2023 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Premier League displaying instead of Premier Division. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Napoli) and French clubs, as well as Manchester Utd, to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Another editor data file creates the Ajax non-playing staff and the German national team manager missing from the database due to licensing restrictions. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Alternatively you can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down menu

If you can't find where your Xboxgames folder is, you can find it by clicking on “More actions” button (three dots that appears when you move your mouse cursor over Football Manager 2023 on Xbox app), then “Manage” → “Files” tab → “Browse…” button.

By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2023’
Equivalent folder for Steam Deck

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to English Premier Division in your saved game, and it should be renamed to Premier League. If you are in the middle of a save-game when you install this download, Japanese and German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Hi, I am in the middle of a save game and want to fix the German national team which I believe this does (thankfully I don't care about the team names so I don't have to start again).
this may be a silly question but i notice it says to re-apply it whenever patches come out. if i forget to immediately update the files after a patch and I play my save it won't like break the save or anything lol

It won't break the save, but it might be the case that the files disabling the German national team get recreated when an official patch comes out. Whenever an official patch comes out, I tend to release a new version of the file to ensure the download still works, so subscribe to this thread as shown in the second paragraph of the main post, and you'll get an email when this happens - and the issue of forgetting about it is thus no longer applicable 😉

Hey mons, I have a weird situation in my game, dunno if it's related to this file - prolly not - but I want to make sure.
I got a son in my save, and he has a 55 year old brother who happens to be an unemployed Belgian assistant manager called Frank Dauwen.
His name also shows up when someone gets a red card in my matches, as a popup, and the same thing shows up to my mate as well, and he also downloaded your file.
I guess he's glitched in SI's database or something like that, but I got no response from them to date.
Could he be related to the editor data we're using or something?

This is the first time I've heard of something similar and I doubt it could be something to do with this file as it's a game function which this file doesn't, and cannot, interfere with. It seems like it might well be a bug with the game. The UID of the guy you mention is 3 (that's not a typo) so it might be a bug with the game associating your son with the topmost UID in the game.

Seems to be a bug with the naming of the Conference League/Champions League when using this file. I can't post example screenshots because I'm using the alpha testing version of the game and am not allowed to share screenshots, but I installed all of this correctly, and it was working fine. However, after some real life days passed, I wanted to check up on the European competitions to see how certain teams did, and I noticed there were two Conference Leagues. I thought at first it was a bug in the game itself, but I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it so that the data folder could be redownloaded and the game completely installed fresh. I loaded up a new save with no editor data files and the Champs League and Conf League were named correctly. I then loaded up the save again (again without installing these files), and yet again the competitions were named correctly. So the only explanation for the names being wrong initially was because of the folders downloaded from here.

I've a weird graphical bug where in the Premier League table, Man Utd doesn't have a logo. Not even a default FM logo. I've got their logo in my files and the “code” added into the config file. It's pretty weird how even the default FM logo doesn't show. Any help from anyone?

You don't need to reinstall the game. You just need to use this workaround to solve the issue in your existing save game.
It's definitely not related to this download because (a) they work fine for me and many others and (b) they don't edit the licensed European competitions at all (except for some non-English languages). I'm struggling to see what the issue might be, however 😢
Btw re-installing the game will have made no difference to any custom files already in place because it doesn't actually remove them.
This has got nothing to do with this file, but an empty space instead of a graphic means that there is a line within a config file somewhere within your user data folder pointing to an image which is not in that same folder. Are you sure the line in the config is exactly what the filename actually is? man utd is not the same as man_utd, for example.
Do you also perhaps have more than 1 logopack installed, one of which as no Man Utd logo perchance?

I took a different logo pack and unfortunately the problem still exists.
So I don't think it has anything to do with the pack.

When I try to do this:
For Notepad, all you need to do is: Select the edit menu, click the replace option, type #"CLUB in the first field and "CLUB in the second and click replace all. Then save and close. Shouldn't take more than 3 seconds if you do it right 🙂
the language in the text is not English. I tried to change the format of the document to UTF-8 but does not work. Any ideas?

I've had no luck applying the work around to my existing save, the names were actually fine before and then I downloaded the updated file and they reverted in the save game back to the original fake names.
Any pointers? I 100% followed the instructions….at least 4 times now.
*UPDATE it has happened in all of my save games, pretty infuriating had I just left it I would have not had this issue.
