Yeah whether Luiz goes down or not doesn't change what Rafael did. How you can be so sure that he only would have got booked had Luiz not gone down astounds me.

Luiz has said that he was laughing at a fan shouting sideshow bob at him, which considering how close to the fans he was in the corner and the way he's laughing towards the fans sounds perfectly plausible.

Nice to see a United fan talking sense in all of this.

Giggs waved a card as well.

He was waving it at the player in a gesture to not do it.

Ryan Giggs and his imaginary card waving hatred

He may have done it himself a few times I don't know, but still he wasn't doing it Sunday.

Anyway Rafael deserved to get sent off, but again I still think Luiz is a dick for the smile and playacting etc.

Sour grapes time - Wigan are back in this because of Mark Halsey.

Had the team of officials at Wigan-Newcastle disallowed the handball goal, we'd have gone home with a point but more importantly, Wigan would be 2 shorter. This would mean their mountain would be steeper, and who knows where it would've gone if McManaman had been sent off for his alleged tackle - almost certainly not 3 points. Now there's the very real possibility of us being relegated from Wigan on goal difference and all because of the fucking referee.

I had let it go to boot.

Nah, not buying it. It's a cliché by now but that's because most of the times it's actually true: These things even themselves out over the course of the season.

God forbid you do something stupid like blame your teams' absolutely diabolical recent performances for your current state, no let's just blame 1 wrong decision about 6 weeks ago

Who the hell would think we played well against Liverpool? The fact some of our fans told the Daily Mirror 0/10 for all but one of our players was too generous is indication. And tbf we've been fucking dreadful all season long.

There are all sorts of factors for why we are down there - the principal one being poor tactical decisions and team selections from a man who has averaged less than a point a game since being a pointlessly whopping contract. But it's hardly deniable things would be a little rosier if that had gone differently, or the consequent decisions given against vs Sunderland and West Ham. I guess I'm in a mood to complain.

Swansea winning will probably shut this up.

Wigan could easily have still gone on to win the game if McManaman was sent off.

Given our tactics they probably would've - at the time I was surprised we'd found an equaliser at all. The main irritation is less that and more the winning goal, or the nature of it.

But what do I care - if Swansea win or draw, it renders it moot anyway. Until the next crisis.

If we're playing that game, City only won the league last year because of a shocking decision to give Newcastle a penalty at Old Trafford.

(Obviously this isn't true)

Wigan will probably win at the Emirates (again) so I wouldn't be too relaxed if they fail to beat Swansea.

That's a cliche in itself though - Cisse has had 7 perfectly good goals ruled out this season (8 if you count West Ham, I personally don't think it was) and has only had 1 goal that shouldn't have counted count. Statistic that I seen the other day.

A failure for them to beat Swansea means we can move four-six clear ahead of that game, and if Arsenal still need Champions League points that gives them incentive too.

We should win comfortably, but then again we should have hammered QPR at the weekend but we were largely underwhelming. I'd love for us to beat Wigan, and for you to win, as it'd be much better for us to visit St. James' Park on the last game of the season with Newcastle's top-flight status already preserved.

What a tragic excuse for a free-kick. He was closer to killing RVP again than finding the net.

The luxury of us confirmed for next season by the final day is one I would love but it all depends on what happens in the meantime. Anything can happen.

I don't really understand why we have free kicks inside the box, why not just have a penalty or just do away with the backpass rule all together?

Because the game doesn't flow without the backpass rule.

Basically without it teams can go 1-0 up and then pass it back to their keeper to pick up over and over again, it was abuse of not having the rule that led to it's creation. And a penalty is just ridiculously harsh for it.
