Week One - The Referee's.
What is your opinion on the referee's today? Do they get influenced by a decision on and off the pitch by the home crowds, respected managers and/or certain players? Do the big clubs tend to get the more favourable decisions in game? Should the referee get more help by the assistant referee's, 4th official and/or new technology? More importantly how well do they do their job?
What’s your view?

Also important to note that the media has played a big influence in refereeing. Nowadays, every Premier League game is being broadcast live somewhere in the world, with a multi-camera setup Add to that high-definition, slow-motion cameras. Broadcasters can pick up on incidents during games that refs won't be able to, and analyse them to death, upstaging the ref and making them look stupid/error-prone, when it's impossible for them to be perfect. That said you do get some genuinely shit referees.

I don't think this would do anything to help the situation at the minute.
Refs jobs are impossible right now and they're not very good at them either, the game is played too quickly and players cheat too much to give referees any chance.
All having a Q&A session would achieve is giving people the chance to give them dogs abuse, besides, every answer will devolve into 'thats what I thought I saw from the one look I got' or variations thereupon.

Yeah but at least they're coming out and giving a reason. "From the angle that I and my linesman saw, there was contact made inside the box" or whatever is better than complete silence.
Besides, refs should be able to handle abuse by now
Ninja
Yeah, sure, but I don't think it's a priority.
Give refs a fighting chance, bans for players diving retrospectively a proper post match DRS, ability to check offside calls on camera in case of dubious goals maybe even a challenge system for penalty calls and then if refs are still making howlers introduce post match interviews for them, but right now I think all that would do is just add more fuel to the bonfire.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that Fifa's Referee Org has banned it.

I have to agree with all of the above. Referee's do an impossible job, they cant get all decisions right and when they make a wrong one its highlighted and slowed down etc etc. I agree the referee needs to be assisted as much as he can at the highest level because of the play acting that goes on and the speed of the game, not all players are stupid they will try to bend the rules to gain an advantage such as diving or making contact with a player to get a penalty.
I also think the rules of the game do not help anyone, they are way to vague for anyone to fully understand whats right and wrong, such as the two footed takle, not all two footed takles are dangerous but is deemed it in the laws of the game. Hand balls is another one, i thought hand ball was hand to the ball but turns out if your arms or hands are slighltly away from your body and struck with the ball with no chance of moving your hand out the way is also deemed hand ball. This is just a few situations of many in todays game. Shoulder barge is a thing of the past now without conceeding a foul, wheres our contact sport going???
I am with Slashman, i think its a good idea for the referee to explain their side of the story for controversial decision instead of going hiding, this may help us all becomming more aware of how the rules are now in the game. Make us understand why refs are quick to make certain decision when they look questionable. This could also give players or even higher powers in the game the chance to express the views and why they think certain rules are wrong and possibly change for the better.
HA! Sorry smurphptfc ill change it if it will get you involved or if i cant can a mod do it??
Cheers lads for getting involved, ill post another one up in a few days.

Fucking Americans.

Thats more like it something that makes us aware of why they made that charge. I have to say hearing "plays" so many times in that vid made my ears hurt. I did a guide on MLS in FM a few weeks ago and could not believe the likeness in rules to American Football its a different game almost apart from the actual match itself thats only thing the same.
Anyway back on topic
For me i think all the referee should do is come out after the game as aprt of their job for just 5 minutes or longer depending if they did make a potential balls up! Think thats all thats needed along with more specific rules regarding takles, handballs, pulling in the box etc etc
