Reading all these Sir Alex tributes it's incredible he ever got time to run a fucking football club with all these letters he wrote.

Seems unlikely, I imagine it was Rooney's fault.

No Rooney at all today. Possibly true regarding rumours with Jones?

Scholes just jokingly confirmed Rooney's transfer request.

Sky Sports were adamant to make clear he was joking. Would be fucking hilarious if he wasn't.

I love the fact that Sir Alex finally can't give a fuck about Rooney anymore. Told Geoff Shreaves that Rooney put in a transfer request.

Good, the boys a cunt. Get rid.

Yesterday was brilliant, managed to get pretty close to the bus as it went past sainsburys/amc. We could've waited and got in albert square but we preferred to go to the pub. Absolutely mental seeing people scale buildings, lamp posts, traffic lights, scaffolding, fences, road signs, there were a shit load of people on top of the sainsburys sign that was about a foot wide. Great day out, no trouble either.

Julien Laurens, football journalist for French newspaper Le Parisien, says on Twitter: "Very reliable sources tell Le Parisien that Sir Alex Ferguson called Carlo Ancelotti last week to ask him to succeed him. He was surprised and flattered but politely declined the offer. So Sir Alex Ferguson then turned to second choice David Moyes."

I doubt it.

I mean, Ancelotti's a good manager, a proven winner and would have been an excellent choice, but Bobby's been going on about Moyes for close to 4 years. I think Moyes has been the succession plan for at least 4 years, possibly even longer.

Your man seems pretty confident in his sources. Ancelotti said he would only manage Real apparently.

My thinking is that Fergie wanted Ancelotti as a stop gap and then Moyes to replace him in a few years time

Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me too much. It's kinda what I wanted us to do with Mourinho (but without the massive ego and potentially destabilising effect).

I just think the way the club went about it is indicative that we were only ever after Moyes, although it would better explain Gill's comments about European experience.

We've just won the U21 League, 2-1 down to win 3-2 against Spurs.

How's it going, Fryers?

Hope Steele stays tbh, him and De Gea have a pretty well known and credited working relationship and seems to have done a lot to encourage Ferguson to stick with De Gea's obvious talent and help him adapt.

Phelan has long been derided for doing nothing, but its hard to know really I guess.

As long as Rene stays.

It's a bit ridiculous letting Steele go, if it's true. Supposed to have had a big impact on De Gea's improvement.

Tbf this is from Talkshite, but theres a few whispers that phelan wants to go manage a lower league club.

Wouldn't be surprised if Giggs became a player/assistant manager and the Everton goalkeeping coach was bought in to be Moyes own council at United.

Despite Fellaini operating at times in the No10 position from where he scored Everton's winner against United in the opening match of the season, he and Moyes view him as a deep-lying midfielder.

Last week, Fellaini said: "I'm happy with my season, although I didn't play in my best position. I'm not a No10. David Moyes predicts my future as a defensive midfielder, but due to a lack of offensive power, he plays me up front. In the future I want to play as a 6 or an 8. From there I can create danger and score goals."

If this is the case, I'd definitely want him. £24M release cause apparently.

Been confirmed. They're gone.

Don't care about Phelan, but I'm pissed off Steele has gone.
