SS' Kits
NEW Submission System

A new submission system for the SS Kits has been released. Please see this forum topic.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to present a full set of SS style default kits for Football Manager 2024 (will also work in FM20-FM23 and in Touch versions). This release features tweaked shirt designs and a better fitting effect/overlay layer.

An alternate effect (aka texture) layer is now included which matches the texture used in the SS kit packs. The overlay based on the SI overlay is the active one when you unzip the pack. To use the alternate overlay, navigate to the default folder (C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Football Manager 202x\graphics\pictures\kits\2d\outfield\front\default) and change the name of the file called effect.png to SIeffect.png (or delete it altogether) and then change the name of the file called SSeffect.png to effect.png

This includes shirt backs and goalkeeper shirts which you will see on the tactics screen and at the bottom of your screen in a match

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (WINDOWS)

1. Place the file Fidney's SS Style Default Kits v22.zip into your Football Manager USER DATA DIRECTORY.

a). Default location of your user data directory is C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 202x

b). If you sync your Documents to OneDrive it will be C:\Users\YOURNAME\OneDrive\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 202x.

c). If you have gone into Preferences and changed the location of your user data directory then it will be wherever that is.

2.  Extract contents of the zip file to your Football Manager 202x directory.

a). If you use WinRAR or 7Zip simply right click and select Extract Here

b). If you use Windows built-in Winzip right click and select Extract All and then in the dialogue box that pops up delete \Fidney's SS Style Default Kits v22 from the end of the file path you are extracting to.

c). If/when you see the message saying would you like to replace an existing file select Yes to All. In Windows this will only overwrite files with the same name in the destination and all other files will remain untouched.

For other operating systems you may need to extract the .zip to another location and manually copy across into your user data folder to avoid deleting other files. The default location of your user data directory may be different if you use a Mac or Linux PC.

The pack will unzip all the files into the following file path [first directory will be whichever version of FM you are using] :

The extracted file path is case sensitive and must not contain any additional levels, although you may have other folders/directories sharing the same file path. For example, this file path is perfectly acceptable [first directory will be whichever version of FM you are using] :

As you can see, the directories in the pack (highlighted) are in exactly the same place in this file path as they are in the “clean” file path shown higher up.

CARE: If other levels are introduced, or the names of any of the folders are changed in any way then the SI "effect/texture" will appear over the kits instead of the SS style texture.

3. If the SS style default kits don't show in your game then go into Preferences, turn off skin caching and reload your skin.

Hi. Why could this be? This happens to all goalkeepers.

Sorry for the late reply, never noticed another post in this thread.

I'm guessing you use a skin because I don't have that view in my game - the only place I see goalkeeper kit backs is on the tactics screen, so I'm only guessing what your problem is.

What you have there is the normal kit back, overlayed by the texture layer for the goalkeeper kits. The SS style goalkeeper kits have long sleeves, hence you can see a “ghost” of the sleeves when the layer is applied to the short sleeved kit.

If you navigate to the directory where you have the kits installed (default path is Football Manager 2023\graphics\pictures\kits\2d\goalkeeper\back) you should see the effect layer there, named “overlay”, and 3 further folders named “plain”, “same as front” and “square”.

“plain” should just contain one kit back called "1.png" and a config file, the other 2 should each contain 56 kit backs (named "1.png"-"56.png" and a config file). All the kit backs you can see in these 3 folders should have long sleeves. If they have not, then I'd suggest downloading the pack again and reinstalling and that will hopefully solve the problem.

Folks, I'm happy to say that this pack works in FM24. In fact it can be used in every version from FM20, and it also works with Touch versions too.

Unfortunately not. Back when I did those, the badges for the kits were separate from the main badges, but that's no-longer the case.

The game will add a default badge to the kits, but only for teams that use the default badges. If you use any kind of badge pack, then for teams that have a badge in the pack you don't get anything on the kits at all. It's a bug that's been there for a few years now and SI don't seem inclinded to fix it.

Logos will show on these default kits, if that's what you mean, but only for teams that do not have a real logo in the game or in any logo packs you might have.

Then nothing has changed. I fighting for bringing this future back from 2021. They know there is a problem, but im the only one talking about this on SI forum.

Thank you so much Fidney! It works perfectly in FM24. I really wish I could have found this post three years earlier lol.

Hi,

I'm using Fidney's SS' Style Default Kits for FM24 and when I use them at the same time as the Sas Skin '24, there is fading at the edges of the jersey.

Is there a solution as to how I can deactivate the shadows of the default kits so that I only see the SS' Style Default Kits?

Thank you.
