Is he definitely returning though?

There's been no official word on it but a couple have places have said he definitely is and he was at the wrap party last week.

I hope it's true.

That's cos there was a full cast Q&A.

Yeah I've heard reports saying he definitely isn't, and ones saying he definitely is. The fact that he and the showrunners have come out and said he definitely won't be making an appearance leads me to believe that he will

This looks pretty cool.

I'm sorry, but that looks like the worst show I've ever seen.

The Blacklist trailer looks too much like a film trailer. Looks pretty poor, but you never know.

Been watching Life on Mars this weekend. It's awesome.

Went through all 16 episodes in 2 days. Now started watching Ashes to Ashes.

Awesome stuff. Gene Hunt is just a brilliant character.

Watched all seven episodes so far. It's pretty good. They've done a good job of creating an interesting world that doesn't involve hunting Lecter, who is played by Mikkelsen brilliantly. But ultimately there is a shelf life to holding my interest so we'll see how it goes. For now, I recommend people watch the first series and see what they think.

The only Lecter (or LectOr as he is named by Harris in the original version of Red Dragon) will still remain Sir Anthony Hopkins. Mikkelsen cant live up to him in terms of personality and charisma.

Loved it.

Weird that a year ago I was hoping they'd just cancel it 'cos of how bad season 8 was. So glad they didn't, this seasons been great.

Finished off Ashes to Ashes tonight.

I hate that hollow feeling you get when you reach the end of a great book or TV series.

I particularly enjoyed the final episode of Ashes to Ashes, it was very satisfying, though left me asking a lot of question. That, in my opinion, is a good way of telling a story: resolving the key questions but leaving the audience wanting a little bit more, just to show that you haven't driven the story on for too long.

Yeah, it was a really good finale.

I guess how little was made about the reveal that Alex is actually dead and won't get to see Molly again could be seen as unsatisfying to some, given how big a deal "going home" was in both Life of Mars and the first two seasons of Ashes to Ashes.

I do wonder if the writers knew what the world the series where set in was right from the start of Life of Mars though or if it was something they decided later on.

I think it was decided as they went along. I would have loved it if they had thought the ending from the beginning, but I don't think it's likely, given that Ashes to Ashes was originally just a one-series spin-off.

Considering how inconsistent the ending is with parts of Life of Mars, I lean towards the same answer as you.

I remember watching it for the first time, properly got sucked into the story!

Was terrified that Gene was going to be some sort of villain all along

Me too!

I haven't watched it all in one go - so I never really noticed whether it was inconsistent or not.

Aye, it's one of those shows that really captures your imagination. Apart from The Wire, it's definitely the best police series I've watched.

I was never really worried about Gene potentially being a bad guy, but I definitely didn't expect him to be the Charon-like "ferryman" he turned out to be either.

Oh, and RIP Quattro

Loved how, as soon as he got back there was an owners manual and keys to a Merc on his desk and some dick comes in shouting off about his iPhone They could make endless seasons of the same show with different people (with Gene Hunt tbf) and I watch every episode)

Also, some of the clothes Keeley Hawes wore. Ooft!

I didn't see the point in him being in it, he barely said or did anything.

I thought they would have made a bigger deal over him being back.

Why? If it was all about him then it would have taken away from the past 3 years of character development. Michael's cameo was perfect, it showed how much he'd matured as well.

He'd never have returned if he was going to be the centre of attention either.
