Where can we contribute to the project? I can't seem to find a link to a contribution page even though it was mentioned in the announcement.

@Footygamer - I popped across to SortItOutSI after a bit of a hiatus to the news that the database update seems to have been rebranded and rolled into something much larger (at least, that is my take on it).

Can I just check - will the concept of this community still driving the data update continue? That is, can we still contribute to the data update? Is the ‘Classic FM’ update effectively a replacement for the SortItOutSI database update in its previous guise? I assume so.

How would you like us to volunteer to help you with this project? I am going to sign up/subscribe because, frankly, I'm indebted to this database update for providing me the most reliable source of an updated game world for years and years. But I'd also like to help out with the project, overall; noting that there is a lot planned.

It's not a replacement, usually we stop updating old games as soon as a new one came out, now they'll be two projects sortitoutsi which will continue as normal updating new games, fm25, fm26, fm27 etc and classic fm which will keep updating FM24 (and hopefully earlier versions but still TBC)

In regards contribution, you can still contribute transfers like normal, but the plan is to release a new way to be able to contribute other data like player histories but its taking a little longer than expected to release. It should be this week.

I am not thick, but I am having real trouble understanding this, despite contributing and using Sortitoutsi for many years, but I simply do not understand ClassicFM.

For it to work, do I need to replace all the previous files I've downloaded, for example - Sortitoutsi24 Update - Austria: does that need to be overwritten with the ClassicFM version?

And what does the dynamic data and non-dynamic data mean?

If someone can explain it simply to me, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

As far as the core data update is concerned, if you have a previous SortItOutSI Data Update and you have now downloaded the one branded as ‘Classic FM’ - you will want to replace the former with the latter.

In practice, the previous update contained a total of 33 files, all of which start with: "sortioutsi.net FM 24 Data Update". You will want to delete all 33 of those files from your \editor data\ folder.

The core ‘Classic FM’ update contains a total of 41 files and you will want to place all of those in your \editor data\ folder.

Within the core 41 files, one of those is the ‘Non Dynamic Data’ file and that is the default way that Football Manager games work. Player abilities, club finances and other variables are fixed in every start. Now, if you want player abilities and club finances to have a level of variation between your saves, the ‘Classic FM’ update provides ten ‘flavours’ of variation that are optional to install. From the update's readme, it describes the way it works as follows:

"These files modify the player abilities and club finances for every player and club in the game. Each player is rated differently in every file, although this isn't random, they are rated within a realistic range. By using one of these files each save will be different with players having slightly different ability meaning different wonderkids and players over 30 deteriorating faster or slower."

To use one of those ‘variable’ setups, my understanding is that you'd pick one of the ‘Dynamic Data’ files (at random) and add that to your \editor data\ folder. You'd also remove the file named “Classic FM - Non Dynamic Data.fmf”. When you start a game, the ‘Dynamic Data’ file will result in some randomisation of player abilities and club finances. There is no description, that I can see, defining the specific differences between the files numbered 1-10. My guess is that they all have higher/lower levels of variance from one another.

Hello. Is it possible to add other payment methods for Classic FM Update. For example: PaySafeCard. I think more people would then buy annual access to the database. Thank you for your reply.

Apologies that was probably a mistake when releasing, Classic FM Austria and Sortitoutsi Austria right now are exactly the same thing, but for simplicity sake it would be worth removing the sortitoutsi versions for the calssic fm version.

In terms of these dynamic data files, does this differ from the random pa/ca mod that I already use? As for all the other features, that you are collectively charging for, these would also seem to available for free elsewhere. I'm not knocking your project, I like the idea of a new mod that will freshen up the game, but I don't see anything here that isn't already available, and I notice daveincid has disappeared off the site, a lot of what you're charging for he releases for free each month

I think we have alot more CA/PA changes that anyone else. At a glance Pr0/FMScout one has 4,530 database changes for CA/PA we have 1.1 million combined CA/PA and club finances.

I wanted to have something to show for things like new players, player histories and player injuries by now but its taking a little longer than expected, but obviously this is a long term project and those will come eventually and be much larger as well. We need to add 10s of thousands of new players, most other files only have a couple of hundred.
