Hello everyone! I'm Noname 2.0. I made this account (I won't use it) to thank everyone I've worked with on this site. I want to thank @Bastiaans  for all the advice he gave me and for always being very helpful. I also thank @Julk44 for all the packages I sent that I worked on and for the advice he gave. And to you, @mons , thank you for everything for being patient with me for so long, on each account I used. Although I didn't really listen to your advice, I still thank you for the feedback I received. Even to you, @KOCIE , thank you even if we didn't have a close connection. I'll stop here, I won't continue posting cuts because I realized that this is the place only for the skilled, not the unskilled like me. Good luck to everyone!🤝🙏💪

Hi everyone, kind of new to cutting (been posting sources and occasionally badly cut faces for about a year though) and looking for advice on how to improve so I can contribute to the pack whilst not too much time is wasted correcting what I upload. I'm having particular problems with figuring out lighting and how to improve that when the light isn't natural, the clone tool creating shadows behind the hair instead of an actual strand of hair, and lastly something I don't know is a program bug or just something with my specific photoshop app/computer; when I center a face, i try to stick to the guidelines, but then after I save the face, half the time the face has jumped slightly in a different direction and is no longer completely central when I check my saved pictures. (couldn't find anything about that in photoshop forums)

Anyways, I am sharing 50 faces I did today, feel free to tell me what I should work/focus on for improvement. I think about 45 of these are not in the pack yet so maybe I can finish them in time for the new update. By the way, apologies if I take a while to respond or if I disappear for a month or two and then reappear with questions. I travel a lot for work and just play fm and look into contributing when I am home and have access to my gaming computer which is usually a weekend a month. My diatribe aside, thanks for looking these over and taking the time to respond!

Hi @Alexandre Mortier, I know the sources can't have been too good but the edges are a bit too jagged and I don't know what technique you're using to cut them. You're also, in almost all cases, leaving a big empty gap above the head. Any more than 2-3 pixels is a waste of screen real estate. You should also make sure to crop faces no more than 2-3 pixels beneath the chin, nudging the collar up if necessary.

Have a look at the first post to see some videos of how all these can be easily achieved. I would also suggest you post individual cuts in here and not loads of them at one go because if there's something which needs to be tweaked, it'll need to be tweaked for all of them instead of just the odd cut.

If you want to give them another go yourself, I would recommend using remove.bg, which is a free online tool which removes the background to an excellent standard, for free and almost instantly.

Here's a couple of videos on how to use it, one when combined with Photoshop and another using photopea.com, which is a free online app so close to Photoshop that it has the same shortcuts, layout and icons.

If you don't have Photoshop, photopea.com is the tool I would recommend to use to tweak the draft cut produced by remove.bg. It's more powerful and versatile than GIMP and other similar tools.

Ok thanks a lot. I'm going to review these videos in detail, use remove.bg and pay attention to the pixels and space above and beneath in particular. I'd love another crack at them but I won't have time until the end of the month turns out. So I'm going to upload what I think are the decent sources of this bunch (because you are right, source quality of most of these is not ideal) and try again with the others when I get back, maybe there will be better sources for them by then and if not might make for good practise; all of them are lower BeNeLux league faces so I don't think the demand for these is urgent. So thanks for the tips and patience and talk to you as soon as I get back then!

Hi again, I am back and am looking for some feedback on some updated faces I did to see if I'm ready to submit game-ready faces or to work on a few. Paid attention to the pixels surrounding these, I also think I have the clone tool down for snow but let me now, and let me know if the lighting is ok or if I have to work on that. I'll send three I considered difficult and their sources so you can tell me what should be done differently.

@Alexandre Mortier, we look for cuts to be cropped no more than 2-3 pixels beneath the chin, nudging the collar up if necessary. In all these cases, the cut is cropped much lower down than that.

I didn't think it was necessary to explain this, AI enhancements aren't allowed at all. It's not allowed to enlarge images with AI, so it is common sense that create an image from scratch, it's not allowed either.

Rule of thumb: Real images are allowed. Fake images aren't allowed. 🙂

Hello! I'm making a mixpack of the current year of AEK Athens. I just want feedback on the quality being appropriate for a final upload, because i'm feeling 50/50 at the moment. This is an example of the quality of the source. Thanks!

It's not bad, even though it's got no collar, which is required. It depends on the current megapack cut, however. If the current cut is recent and cut, this is unlikely to be an improvement.

Olympiacos is next, my feelings are mixed again, because the source from the website looks a bit funny/too smooth. (or it could just be me)  Should i continue or wait for a better quality source (eafc/uefa etc)?

Same as before. Tbh, if you're doubtful, it's worth considering whether they're worth cutting at all.

Weird situation, to be honest, because some of them look fine while some others look like they're enhanced. I think i might use these for personal use until a better quality source comes up, it won't take long anyway

You've been here long enough to know what's good and what's not. Just use your judgement and common sense 😊

There's really no need for most of them, who will have had excellent cuts produced recently anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hey,

With the inclusion of women in the game (and now in the megapack) this year, I was wondering what the proper cutting guidelines are for them before I start working on any sources myself.

For male players with longer hairstyles, the general rule I’ve followed over the years has been to include the full hair and cut underneath it. However, I’ve noticed that many of the recently accepted women packs have cuts where the hair is cropped around the chin or shoulders. Some of these also include slightly tilted heads — so I assume (and understand) that at this stage of the megapack with loads of new faces for women, adding a good number of faces is the main focus rather than maintaining perfect consistency.

So when I’m cutting sources for women with their hair down, where should I make the cut — below the hair, at the shoulders, or around the chin like most of the men’s cuts? And I assume the usual guidelines for tilted heads and similar aspects still apply?

Thanks in advance!

@Cipier It's true that this was never explicitly specified in the guidelines, but the general thought process was to try and include all the hair (both to the side of the face, and also when it's Afro-style hair and longer hair. But, as you say, with women now being more prevalent in the megapack, we need to have a set policy for longer hair.

In my opinion, we should aim to display at least some of any hair beneath the chin to show that the person has long hair. I don't think, however, that we should include all of the hair. Maybe till slightly beneath the shoulders should be enough. What does the community think?

@mons

For visualization purposes, I’ve made four example cuts from the Portugal women’s source pack that’s currently pending (the cuts themselves aren’t perfect — just meant for demonstration).

Personally, I prefer cutting at the chin or around the point between the neck and shoulders. Otherwise, the faces become a bit harder to see, and the result starts to look more like the DF11 Player Faces Megapack — which is also a great pack, of course — just with a transparent background.

I think the 4th cut is the ideal one @Cipier. It shows that she has long hair and the size of the face is still reasonably large.
