Tony returns to Director of Football

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/DxQ5X7bnGkNxxSRJDUdlcvU7pD1XzZuE2e3kxtXf.jpg
Tony O'Driscoll (right) in the dugout.

Today we announce that Tony O'Driscoll has decided to return to his original position of Director of Football as the board look ahead to next season to hire a new leading man. After the departure of Nas Bashir earlier in the year Tony moved into the dugout until the end of the season where we would unfortunately end up being relegated with a poor run of matches, Tony had this message for the fans:

I would like to personally apologise to each and every fan who has paid money in recent weeks to watch Hayes and Yeading United. At times our performances have been nothing short of a disgrace. Whilst our preparations and parts of our game have been spot-on, other aspects have been embarrassing and I feel it is only right that I step aside and allow the younger heads within our side take the lead.

Looking ahead to the 2012-13 season we are currently in the hunt for a new manager, we have had early discussions with some great candidates and we hope to have more news in the coming days.

New Man for The Missioners

Hayes and Yeading United will remain at Kingsfield Stadium

DEREK Goodall today announced his new manager at Hayes & Yeading United, Edward Martin, 25, who has been offered a one year contract worth £650/week. Last week it was announced that Tony O'Driscoll was returning to his role of Director of Football at the club as the board looked to bring in a new face. Edward Martin is completely new to management having only previously played Sunday football in the Wiltshire county, but Derek Goodall was very happy with his new manager and had the following to say.

We had a really poor season last year which resulted in us being relegated, after numerous interviews with other candidates Edward Martin stood out the most to us with his drive and passion to help move the club forward, we hope to recover after last year and build our strength to make a real push to make it to the Football League, and the club truly believes that he can take us there.

We also managed to catch up with Edward Martin himself for a quick chat and he said.

I am very happy to be standing here today as the new manager at this young club, having been reformed in 2007 we are only looking towards the future, this is my first step into management and I hope it will bring good things to this club. I am not coming into this club with no knowledge as I have spent a lot of time looking into the squad and back room staff and will be having discussions with everyone to see what went wrong last term and what we can do to bounce back as quickly as possible.

It certainly is going to be a tough season this year for the new man, if the club have any hope of bouncing back they desperately need to bring in some new players to strengthen the back four, but with a reportedly small transfer budget available he will hope clubs are willing to loan players for low fees.

I have decided to make this career topic on the back of some awesome topics that I have read, I intend to follow a similar style to "born-to-win" as I feel it provides an awesome touch to the experience. I have decided to go into the game with the intention of building my career up, starting as a young manager born in '87 known as Edward Martin. I hope you enjoy my career topic.

Need for improvement at Hayes & Yeading United

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xggsAPP6ZObntfbjCrO5pRpDxMJ84bOIEDbUz6mB.jpg

Hayes & Yeading United have completed their pre-season finishing with only one victory which concluded today against Godalming Town away.

Their pre-season started against Blackburn at home where they lost 0-3, after this was their only win of the pre-season which came against Ashford Town away which was a 0-2 victory. They then played at home against Brentford and Barnsley which again resulted in results of 1-3 and 0-4 respectively. It was at this point that the board considered a change in management which resulted in Tony O'Driscoll returning to his post of Director of Football with Edward Martin signing on the 4th of August he had absolutely no time to prepare as the final preseason match against Godalming Town was due to be played 5 hours after him signing the dotted line.

Going into the match he was presented with a horribly depleted team due to injury missing 4 key players which resulted in him only being able to have 4 players available on the subs bench, it did not get much better as 20 minutes into the game a soft penalty was conceded which gifted Godalming a 1-0 lead, for the rest of the first half Martins team was thoroughly out-played having very little possession and few chances, their first chance came in the 42nd minute when Brendon Cowell struck the wood work. In the second half the team came out all guns blazing and scored a goal within a minute which was a find header between three defenders by Cowell to make the game 1-1, throughout the second half it was very end to end football however unfortunately for Martin yet another injury hampered his efforts as Josh Ekim took a knock, after this the team had a lapse ten minutes and conceded a second time after a cracking goal from Jon Palmer which helped Gogalming to see the game out and ruin Edward Martins' debut game.

Martin now has a five player long injury list which are, Cadmore, Brathwaite, Pele, Bentley and Ekim which leaves him very short at the back and the middle of the park, there have been reports that he is currently on the hunt for atleast 5 players with discussions reportedly having already started though nothing announced by the man or the club as yet. All signs point to this being a very difficult season to the club at the moment, with their first game away at Weston-super-Mare on the 18th of August.

We were unable to speak to Martin after the game however he did apologize to the press and said that he had to get straight to work in improving the squad and would speak to the press further in the coming weeks.

Ready for Kick-off

http://www.bromleyfc.tv/season1011/images/1213/bsbspreview.jpg
Hayes and Yeading United rush to bring in players before season kick-off.

After a very poor pre-season for The Missioners, Martin has been hard at work trying to bring some new faces to the club with so far successfully only landing three new faces with reports saying he is hoping at least three more to join before the end of the window in just under two weeks. The new signings are:

  1. Luke Gregson, 30, Luke is a centre midfielder with plenty of experience in non-league football, Martin will be hoping Gregson will be able to use his previously proven determination and drive to help his squad, he has been brought in on a season long loan.
  2. Craig Hammond, 25, Craig is a striker who is on a season long loan from Cambridge City, he has shown some brilliant finishing in his 2 years at Cambridge and we hope to see some of his flair this year.
  3. Lewis Webb, 21, Lewis is the youngest of Martins signings so far, he is able to play as a right fullback or a centre midfielder which provides good flexibility, it is likely Lewis will be used in a backup role in the squad especially at times like the present where the team is injury hit.
Tomorrow is Hayes & Yeading United first showing in the Blue Square South against Weston-super-Mare away, who have come into this season off the back of a successful preseason conceding only 3 goals in 5 matches, Martin will be hoping now that he has had more time to work with the squad that they will be able to put their poor pre-season behind them and get running in the new season. We will bring you the full report from that match tomorrow night, we hope you are looking forward to this season as much as we are in what is likely to be one of the most exciting seasons for the division.

Debut win for Martins Missioners

Hayes & Yeading United secured victory on the opening day of the Blue Square South with a 1-0 victory over Weston-super-Mare at the Woodspring Stadium

In Edward Martins competitive debut as Hayes & Yeading United the Missioners came into the match after a terrible preseason, Martin made no changes to the side he fielded in the last game of the preseason however was able to get a full subs bench due to the signings he has made, fans that travelled were also happy to see Pele back on the bench although he did not feature in todays match.

Weston-super-Mare came into this match having lost only one of their preseason matches which included a victory over the Chelsea Reserves which meant they were coming into the game confident they would be able to perform well on the opening day of the season.

The Missioners went into the game with a much different attitude to what was used in he preseason, with Martin clearly getting them fired up and ready to go as the first chance came six minutes into the match when Oyenuga shot just wide of the post. The next opporunity also fell to the Missioners with a drive from twenty yards, twenty six minutes in which was well saved by keeper Irish but he could do nothing about the next effort a minute later which was started by a brilliant through ball from Legg from the right hand side which Oyenuga took sweetly onto his chest and volleyed into the back of the net making it 1-0 to Hayes & Yeading United.

The Seagulls finally entered the game with their first effort thirty six minutes into the first half with a shot that went well wide, and then a minute later a great drive from the edge of the area forced a great save by Beasant, unfortunately after this effort Beasant picked up a knock and was substituted at half time with Hall coming in.

In the second half Hayes & Yeading had to withstand 20 minutes of strong pressure from The Seagulls, which brought a good save from Hall who played brilliantly through the second half. A lot of the second half was played in the middle of the park with The Missioners having a nervy last five minutes with a scrappy clearance from the six yard box which ended what was The Seagulls strongest attack of the match.

Weston-super-Mare boss Craig Laird had this to say: "It was a really tough game for us today, we were expecting to do a lot better after the preseason we have but the boys did not turn up for the first half which resulted in our undoing, we will look to bounce back in the next match.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "We played brilliantly today, I was really happy with the way we performed in the first half, and then our defending in the second half to hold off a strong attack was very good, hopefully we can continue like this." We also asked what it was like as a debut match and he said: "It was a great first competitive game for me, but I look ahead for the club as that is the most important thing, but yes it was nice to start with a win."

Weston-super-Mare lineup (4-4-2). Irish, Jones, Laird, Villis, Slocombe, Stearn (Grubb 67), Kirk (c), Trowbridge (Kington 88), Monks, Ingram, McLaggon (Pepperell 45)
Subs not used. Couplard (GK), Price

Beasant out for 6 weeks.

Beasant (left) dives to save.

James Beasant met with club doctors after our win against Weston-super-Mare after picking up a knock on his ankle, after a solid first half it was very disappointing for him to have to come off the pitch in the first game of the season. Unfortunately scans have revealed that he has twisted his ankle and is expected to be out for between 6 and 7 weeks, which means he is going to be missing some key games at the start of this season.

Martin has revealed he is hoping to bring in a new keeper for cover for the next 3 months on loan before the window closes in 10 days, for the time being Hall will continue to start in the starting eleven which will be a great experience for him. In some other news Martin has also said that he is currently in discussions with two other players in regards to bringing them into the club to fill up our team-sheet some more, we will keep you updated.

The Missioners were unable to capitalize on their first goal against Billericay Town

Hayes & Yeading United made only two changes to the side that beat Weston-super-Mare with Lewis Webb replacing Gregson in the starting lineup as well as Beasant being replaced by Hall between the sticks due to injury.

The game was very short on chances and action with most of the game being played in the middle of the park, the first opportunity and goal came in the 13th minute where Brendon Cowell turned on the ball and struck the ball into the bottom right of the goal from the edge of the box. Then twenty minutes later Webb had an opportunity on goal from outside the box that went well over the cross bar.

He then began to regret that wasted chance as one minute later some poor defending from a corner allowed Osborn to smash a half volley into the back of the net from the edge of the 6 yard box. In the second half there were only two shots in what was quite a dull and slow match with possession just bouncing between the two sides in the middle of the pitch.

After his teams solid performance against the Seagulls last week Martin was sure to hope his side could put on a much better performance here today where they were favourites to win, but unfortunately it did not happen and the game ended honours even at 1-1.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "Today was a really slow match, nothing really seemed to happen. We tried to mix it up a bit in the second half but both teams just seemed to cancel eachother out, we really need to improve for our next game."

Billericay Town boss Craig Edwards had this to say: "We played alright today, we knew we were not the favourites going into this match but we defended well after conceding the first goal and then managed to cancel the game out in the second half."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Legg, Bygrave (Pele 70), Kalama, Wishart, Cox (c), Williams, N'Diaye, Webb, Cowell, Oyenuga (Hammond 70)
Subs not used. Stow, Gregson, McLean
Goals. Cowell
Bookings. Kalama, Oyenuga

Billericay Town lineup (4-5-1). Thomas, Oates, Olima (Swaine 70(c)), Bangura (Thelwell 45), Worrell, Rogers, O'Leary, I'Anson, Poole, Lechmere (Taylor 65), Osborn
Subs not used. Bennett (GK), Collis
Goals. Osborn
Bookings. Bangura, Rogers

Attendance. 75
Referee. Chris Powell
Man of the Match. Billericay Town player Glenn Poole was awarded the man of the match today with a match rating of 7.4, in a rather dull match he was one of the only players to stand out in the midfield connecting defense to forwards quite well.

Boreham Wood held to a draw by Hayes & Yeading United

In front of another low crowd, which has been the trend since the dismal performance last season, Hayes & Yeading United put on a good performance against Boreham Wood and managed to hold the game to a draw, with Boreham Wood having more of the possession and controlling much of the game it was a difficult game for United but they managed to finish 1-1.

Hayes & Yeading started the better team and had decent possession for much of the first half, which paid off when Hammond made the breakthrough on the stroke of half time after a nice lay off from Oyenuga on the edge of the area, Hammond took the ball down sweetly and booted it low into the bottom right corner.

Boreham Wood came out into the second half with much more force and proving a point that they are up for promotion contention this season, with numerous efforts in very quick succession, Martins side had to constantly defend throughout the second half, but unfortunately as was against Billericay Town his defence fell apart on a single set-piece which resulted in Thalassitis being able to turn on the ball inside the 6 yard box and smash it home for his team.

They nearly made it 2-1 when Morgan headed the ball off the corner only to see it graze the crossbar as it went over. The pundits had this game down as a draw and it ended as such, both sides supporters should go home happy after this match with both teams hovering in the top 10.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "It was a tough game today, it was really good to get our noses infront just before half-time, but unfortunately again a defensive error at a set-piece cost us, definitely something we will be working on this week."

Boreham Wood boss Ian Allinson had this to say: "We were unlucky to only come away with 1 point today, I thought we played well enough especially in the second half to deserve all 3 points, but we will keep pushing as its only early days yet."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Cox (c), Bygrave, Kalama (Legg 63), Wishart, Pele, Williams (Gregson), N'Diaye, Webb, Hammond, Oyenuga (Cowell 76)
Subs not used. Stow, McLean
Goals. Hammond
Bookings. Williams, N'Diaye

Billericay Town lineup (4-5-1). Russell, Garrard, Shimmin (Fortune 75), Reynolds, Nunn, Morgan, Isaac, Noto (c), Johnson (Pires 60), Mingoia, Thalassitis
Subs not used. Gueret (GK), Cronin, Hildreth
Goals. Thalassitis
Bookings. Noto

Attendance. 97
Referee. Nick Powell
Man of the Match. Boreham Wood player Greg Morgan was todays Man of the Match with a match rating of 8.0, Morgan had a solid game in the midfield which he nearly topped off with a sweet header only to see it hit the crossbar.

Hayes & Yeading United take all the spoils against Basingstoke Town who were poor in front of goal.

Coming into this match unbeaten in the first three matches would be considered a pretty good start for new man Edward Martin, this was their 3rd match in 6 days and they played as strong as ever against a Basingstoke side who really did not look like they were going to get anything from today's match.

The first two efforts of the match were taken by Basingstoke early in the first 15 minutes of the match one of which made Hall produce a fine save, for the remainder of the half all of the traffic was in the Basingstoke half as Hayes & Yeading piled the pressure on whilst having very little possession, Hammond struck the crossbar on the 31st minute of the match after a fine effort.

One minute later Cowell received the ball from a throw in and ran around two defenders and hit the ball home to make it 1-0 to the away side, not even 10 minutes later Webb received the ball from a fantastic free kick and climbed highest to head the ball home from 6 yards to give his side a 2-0 lead heading into half time.

In the second half Basingstoke tried to slow the game down and control possession, they did control much of the possession with a final statistic of 68%, however all this possession did not lead to anything and it just resulted in the game being played out with little to no pressure for either side in the second half of the match, a single effort stood out as Hall was forced into a fine save from a close range volley.

Extending The Missioners unbeaten run so far this season to 4 games, there fans and board will certainly be happy with the start made by new man Edward Martin, but with a long way to go in this season everything is still up for grabs but signs are good so far for the club.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "We played very well today, we did not have as much possession as I would like but what counts is what you do with the possession when you have it and our boys used it well." He also commented on the current match congestion. "I think the match congestion for us has been terrible, 3 matches in 7 days is really poor, but we played well and pulled through without a defeat, credit to the boys.

Basingstoke Town boss Jason Bristow had this to say: "I am very dissapointed in our performance today, we did very little to capitalize on the possession we had today, very dissapointed but all credit to United as they played well."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Cox (c)(Legg 60), Bygrave, Kalama, Wishart, Pele (N'Diaye 60), Stow, Gregson, Webb, Hammond, Cowell
Subs not used. Williams, McLean, Oyenuga
Goals. Webb, Cowell
Bookings. None

Basingstoke Town lineup (4-4-2). Bayes (c), Jefford, Gooding (Adams 51), Gasson, Fitzgerald, Williams (Bradshaw 45), Lake, Campbell, Warner (Dunn 72), Sam-Yorke, Holden-Spooner
Subs not used. Morris (GK), Bampton
Goals. None
Bookings. Sam-Yorke

Attendance. 304
Referee. Mark Thompson
Man of the Match. United goalkeeper Brendon Hall was selected as today's Man of the Match with a rating of 8.5, he had a fantastic game in goal making 2 fine saves to keep his side in front, as well as commanding his defence very well.

August Awards Announced

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dKONtV58hIT4J6IVwtPzfQMAHXcvyuaUdjmmxwnp.jpg
August Roundup including Manager and Player of the Month Awards

The Manager of the Month award has gone to Maidenhead United boss Johnson Hippolyte, the decision was made after The Magpies made a fantastic start to the season with strong victories in all four of their opening matches. Player of the Month has gone to Truro City striker Stewart Yetton, the 27 year old has had a great start to the season scoring 3 girls in 4 appearances.

As we finish off a hectic August, Maidenhead United are the team that has stood out and the only team to take all the points from all 4 of their matches so far this season, just below them is Truro City who have also started strong having only dropped points in 1 of their 4 matches at home to Waterlooville. In the remaining 3 play-off places are Farnborough FC, Chelmsford City and Brombley with 4th down to 7th only seperated by goal difference. At the wrong end of the table is Staines Town, Havant & Waterlooville and Weston-super-Mare in 20th, 21st and 22nd respectively all on 1 point and the only teams to only take 1 point from their opening matches.

The table as it stands today.

Late goal saves The Missioners

Gregson snatched a point for Hayes & Yeading in a game where they were off the pace.

Hayes & Yeading came into this match after a 2-0 win against Basingstoke and on the back of a 4 four match unbeaten run and sitting 6th in the table, and their opponents Welling United came into this match after a 1-1 draw against Sutton United having only lost 1 match out of the first 4 but not having won a single game and found themselves sitting in 16th.

Welling United had a dream start to the match when Lafayette took the first chance of the game 9 minutes in and shocked United by putting it in the back of the net to make it 1-0 to the away side, after this Welling controlled very little possession but managed to keep the threat of United at bay and conceded very little efforts on goal and saw out the first half 1-0.

After the restart Welling United got straight into action with a shot on goal that was well saved by Hall, and then on the 53rd minute had a contentious penalty given but the striker never looked confident on the spot as Hall stood strong and parried the ball away to continue his fine run of form between the sticks.

Towards the latter end of the second half Martins team really started applying the pressure with numerous shots on target, all of which were well saved by Welling Uniteds keeper, but then on the 85th minute Gregson found himself in room in the box and struck the ball into the bottom right corner to save the day for The Missioners and keep their unbeaten run going to 5 games.

Looking at the stats of todays game a draw is a fair result with each time sharing their own piece of good statistics, with Hayes & Yeading controlling possession but Welling having more shots on target than their opponents.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "Today was a tough game for us, but thanks to Gregs we managed to get a late equaliser that I thought was never going to come. However we really need to work on our discipline as the yellow cards will become costly.

Welling United boss Jamie Day had this to say: "I am really disappointed to only come away with a point today, I feel we did enough in this game to seal all 3 points, but we just could not see it through."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Legg, Cadmore (c), Pele (Bygrave 56), Wishart (Brathwaite 72), N'Diaye, Stow, Williams, Gregson, Hammond, Cowell (Oyenuga 83)
Subs not used. Bentley, Cox
Goals. Gregson
Bookings. Pele, Wishart, Cowell

Basingstoke Town lineup (4-4-2). Mott, Fazakerley (c), Franks, Acheampong, Easton, Oberstellar, Day, Healy, Quilter (Gallagher 80), Lafayette, Hughes-Mason (Main 80)
Subs not used. Turner (GK), Kinch, McLaren
Goals. Lafayette
Bookings. Healy, Quilter

Attendance. 116

Great start so far to your career, it is good to see someone else setting their story out like mine, and it also good to see someone else doing a story which does not involve a top four Premier League side.

Keep up the good work.

Yeah it has been a pretty good start after a torrid pre-season, but that was prior to my appointment at the side. I like the idea of starting at the bottom and moving your way up through the management "ladder", gradually gaining respect (hopefully).

Good start, they're awful in real life. You've already improved them!

Yeah its been a pretty good start, wasn't expecting to start so well after the pre-season, but very early days yet.

Martin asks for parent club to help club move forward.

Rumours that are coming out of the Hayes & Yeading United camp say that coach Edward Martin has asked the board to line up a parent club so that he can bolster his ranks with youngsters who have points to prove, this doesn't come as a surprise after Martin was only able to capture four loan players during the transfer window after many of his deals fell through due to funds and players willing to move to the low league club.

Many Premier League clubs use feeder clubs to send out their youngsters to game some match experience whilst also helping out the team, it also gives lower league clubs access to potential future star players, most loans from parent clubs to feeder clubs come with no fees to the feeder club with the full wage usually picked up by the parent, all in all its quite a good setup for the lower club.

We managed to catch a word with club captain Sam Cox who had this to say. "This is the first I am hearing of this, though none of the boys would have any problems with some youngsters with drive coming into the club as we will be left short if we sustain injuries through the season. We are trying to bounce back after last season and we have started really well and have full confidence in the coach."

We have reached out to the club for official comment, though have not heard back at time of publishing.

Point a piece at Westleigh Park

Slow game between Hayes & Yeading United and Havant & Waterlooville ends 1-1 at Westleigh Park.

Tuesday's late kick off between United and The Hawks was predicted to be a strong victory for United based on the way both teams have started this season, but with Martin having to make many changes to keep his players fresh it allowed The Hawks to get into the game and give a real go to try and pull themselves away from the relegation zone.

The first opportunity of the match presented the first goal 14 minutes in, when Palmer received a long ball through the middle of the park that just ripped apart the United defence it was all too easy for him to just take it on the chest, two touches and then smash it passed the keeper into the roof of the net. The next notable effort was in the 34th minute when United moved the ball forwards to the edge of the box and Oyenuga took on the shot but unfortunately did not catch it cleanly so it rolled wide of the goal.

As has been the case in a lot of games for United so far this season the second half was quite slow, with them being 1-0 down a lot of people would of expected them to come out all guns blazing but they appeared calm and content on just playing their normal game, wearing out the opposition as they go, and it worked because in the 83rd minute Oyenuga found himself in loads of space in the box and just tucked the ball passed the keeper with ease. United then almost stole all 3 points in the last minute if not for a poor effort by Hammond.

That is another away match without a loss for United who will be very pleased with the start they have had, they went into this season hoping to finish in the top half of the table and so far they only find themselves 2 places below playoffs with only goal difference separating them. At the other end though Havant & Waterlooville have a lot of work to do if they want to stay in the Blue Square next season, but its early days and time will tell.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "Another really slow game today, I would of liked our boys to get more chances than they did and more possession would be nice, but they achieved what we set out for them so no complaints today."

Havant & Waterlooville boss Lee Bradbury had this to say: "Really disappointing, we looked to be taking all 3 points but we knew the threat of United today as they did it last week too, and we just weren't quite good enough at the back."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Legg, Bygrave, Kalama, Wishart (Brathwaite 64), Cox (c), Bentley, Williams, N'Diaye (Gregson 84), Oyenuga, Cowell (Hammond 64)

The Whites hammer unbeaten United

United's unbeaten run came to an abrupt end at Crabble Athletic Ground against a far superior Dover side with May getting a hat-trick.

Dover Athletic went into today's match as favourites, and they put on a performance that showed why. The Whites were strong all over the pitch today and never missed a beat through the game, as United tried to mix it up to get themselves back into the game they left gaps which let May in as he scored a hat-trick for the home side.

United appeared to start the game quite well, 6 minutes in the made the first opportunity of the game only for Lewis to smash the ball high and wide and no where near the target to the disappointment of his manager, and then 10 minutes later he did the exact same thing again which caused Martin to come to the sidelines and get his side to calm down and work the ball more.

But then 3 minutes later as the match entered its 20th minute Dover had a free kick which has been a weak point for United this year and as has been the case numerous times there defending was poor which let May get in and score his first goal of the match. He nearly made it 2-0 just before half time but his shot fizzed passed the post to the delight of Hall in the United goal.

The second-half was all Dover, everything was in the United half. 3 minutes after the restart May got his second goal with ease as he split the defence and hammered it home from close range and then on the 64th minute he appeared to do the exact same thing again that would have a bystander thinking it was just a replay they were seeing, but unfortunately for United it wasn't and it brought the game to 3-0.

United were really lackluster today and didn't show any spark of the performances we have seen from them so far this season, now they need to go back to camp, think about the match and bounce back.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "Furious, today's game was an absolute shambles, we did not deserve anything from this game."

Dover Athletic boss Chris Kinnear had this to say: "We played fantastic today, we came into this game with confidence infront of a good home crowd and we played fantastic, all credit to the boys."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Cadmore, Bygrave, Kalama, Brathwaite (Wishart 58), Cox (c), Webb (Stow 58), Williams, Gregson, Oyenuga, Hammond
Subs not used. Pele, N'Diaye, Cowell
Goals. None

Dover Athletic lineup (4-5-1). Walker, Sessegnon, Webb, Wynter, Sterling, Simpeba (c), Rance, Cogan, Azeez (McMahon 45), Ademola, May (Willock 80)

United cruise to 1-0 victory over Salisbury at Kingfields

United returned to winning ways in a fiery match against Salisbury City.

Looking to bounce back after the hammering last week against Dover, Hayes & Yeading entered today's game against 5th placed Salisbury with a point to prove that they would not just collapse after the defeat last week. The match was fiery with 2 red cards and 7 other bookings in the match where both managers disagreed with numerous decisions by the referee.

United got the start they dreamed of as almost the first kick of the game gave them their goal for the afternoon, a smooth Cowell took the ball onto his right foot and just passed the ball passed the keeper into the corner without even breaking a sweat. 6 minutes later they were coming forward again this time with Oyenuga taking a shot at goal which was well saved by the keeper. To finish off the efforts in the first half Cowell had another go at goal but it was off-target and never really troubled the keeper.

In the second half United went into a very defensive tactic, retaining the possession and frustrating their opponents who managed to get no shots on target for the whole 90 minutes of the match. In the 62nd minute Cox had a shot on goal which was well saved, then in a matter of 3 minutes there were two red cards dished out by the referee both in very contentious circumstances with both bookings coming from tackles that appeared to not even touch the opposing players. Salisbury had a single shot in the second half from outside the box which looked powerful however was climbing from the moment it left the players boot.

United manager Martin should be happy with his teams performance today, they did as he asked when he asked, though the discipline in terms of bookings for his team today was quite poor so they are definitely going to need to look at that. But Salisbury will want to find out why they got nothing at all in this game, they were outplayed defensively and going forwards from the first until the last minute.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "We played well today, I was very happy to seem my boys bounce back after last weeks defeat, in all honesty I am dissapointed with the referee today though, but I shall refrain from further comment."

Salisbury City boss Darrell Clarke had this to say: "Quite dissapointed today, we had a lot of possession but we seemed to do nothing with it, but the referee makes the sheet look bad today, Martin and I have discussed the number of bookings and will be talking to the right authorities.."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Legg, Bygrave, Kalama, Wishart, N'Diaye (Pele 51), Cox (c), Williams (Webb 63), Gregson, Oyenuga (Hammond 89), Cowell
Subs not used. Brathwaite, Stow
Goals. Cowell
Bookings. N'Diaye, Williams, Gregson (2), Cowell, Pele

Salisbury City lineup (4-5-1). Scott, Wilson, Richards (Giles 51 (c)), Sweeney, Hart, Sinclair, McPhee, Dutton (Clarke 69), Wellard, Sinclair (Brett 62)
Subs not used. Puddy (GK), Fitchett
Goals. None
Bookings. Richards, Wellard (2)

Attendance. 57
Referee. Chris Powell
Man of the Match. United defender Adam Bygrave took out todays Man of the Match with a rating of 8.8, once again he was a rock in the United defense and really caused problems for Salisbury's strikers.

FA Cup Qualifying Begins!

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BiQPMcZCMj5NryTmpze3dasr4JM6Fy4gxLcnxgjc.jpg
FA Cup Trophy

England's most prestigious cup competition is about to begin for Hayes & Yeading United, the draw for the Second Qualifying Round has been made today and we have been drawn a home game against Wealdstone who compete in the Isthmian Premier League, the game is to be played on Saturday the 22nd of September.

The furthest our club has made it into the competition is the first round proper, and it would be a fantastic achievement if we could make it that far again, a small cup run will always be good the club and who knows maybe we could be the shock of the cup as those things happen. We managed to have a chat with Edward Martin and he said. "I am looking forward to our first and my first ever FA Cup game, being drawn at home is always a bonus but we have to play well and hard and hopefully we will make it through qualifying, come down and give us a cheer!"

Hayes & Yeading United cruised to victory with a 3-0 win against Wealdstone at Kingfield Stadium.

The 2012-13 FA Cup campaign got underway for United today against Isthmian Premier League leaders Wealdstone, United got the good draw of being able to play the first match of the campaign at home which is always a bonus in cup competitions and they duly delivered in front of the small number of dedicated fans with a 3-0 victory where in they controlled the match.

The first chance of the match was in the 27th minute when Hammond shot wide from the edge of the box after a good move through the midfield, then 4 minutes later they were at the other end defending a decent attack by Wealdstone that did not lead to much and Hall managed to just gather the ball with ease. Minutes before half-time the first goal of the game came when Hammond passed through a inch perfect pass to Cowell who was able to slot home from 6 yards.

After the break United were straight back into action with two quick fire attempts on goal, one of which ricocheted off the crossbar and out of play which made it a really nervy start to the half for Wealdstone. Then on the 59th minute United got there second goal with another great through ball by hammond to N'Diaye who smashed the ball home from just outside the box. As Wealdstone started to push to try and save the match in the 84th minute United got their 3rd and final goal when Hammond got what he deserved as he calmly slotted the ball home from the edge of the area.

All in all it was a solid performance for United who move into the 3rd Qualifying Round, but its the end of the competition for Wealdstone who really didn't put up any fight today against a much more dominant United side.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "Great FA Cup win for the boys today, taking every game as it comes lets hope we make the proper."

Wealdstone boss Gordon Bartlett had this to say: "It was always going to be difficult today, I am proud of my boys though as we were fighting until the end which is why they managed to get their third goal."

Eastleigh hang on to 2-1 victory over Hayes & Yeading United at Silverlake Stadium.

Eastleigh came into this match firmly in third position with a point to prove to the teams around them, it was to be a good match up against Hayes & Yeading United who certainly put up a fight to the promotion favourites in the 2-1 loss at Silverlake Stadium.

All of the first half was controlled by Eastleigh, they were controlling the possession, the pace and the ball with relative ease but had little in the way of chances on goal, but the first major chance came not to long into the match on 5 minutes where a bit of sloppy defending almost allowed Eastleigh to score if not for a clearance off the line by Hall, who had not conceded in 205 minutes prior to this match.

Then on the 19th minute Eastleigh were awarded a penalty, much to United's disgust as they insisted the Eastleigh player had fallen to the ground way to easily, as part of the protest Bygrave was booked for dissent, but then justice was served as Hall pulled off a fantastic save from the penalty and managed to clear the ball well clear of any rebound attempts.

The Spitfires finally broke through in the second half in the 58th minute with Fletcher taking the ball onto the chest on the right hand side of the box and half volleying the ball straight passed keeper Hall, who should of done better. Then on the 70th minute Eastleigh had a free kick just outside the box and Fenn absolutely smashed the ball it fizzed right passed keeper Hall who never stood a chance at saving the shot as the home side made it 2-0.

Martin then made a couple of changes and must of issued new instructions as all of a sudden United were in control, as they pushed forward and with pace that was unseen through the match and then on the 77th minute gave the home side a fright when Hammond scored for the second game running to make the game 2-1. Fortunately for Eastleigh though they were not able to build on this apart from a wide effort from Ekim in the last minute and they were able to nervously see out the final 10 minutes.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "It was a disappointing first half in the way of chances but we defended brilliantly, and then in the second half I thought we played really well especially in the last 20 minutes, I would of loved a point today."

Eastleigh boss Richard Hill had this to say: "That was certainly a nervous ending to the match, we played very well up until we got our second goal where we seemed to just slack off a bit, but we came away with the points so I am happy."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Legg, Bygrave, Kalama, Wishart, Cox (c) (Stow 90), N'Diaye, Williams (Webb 69), Ekim, Hammond, Cowell (Oyenuga 69)

Hayes & Yeading United ease to a 1-0 victory in a slow match against struggling Staines Town

United sitting comfortable in the middle of the table played against struggling Staines Town today, all United needed to do was keep their play simple and to the point and it was likely they would come away with victory, and they did just that in a match with few shots on goal and came out 1-0 winners at home.

The first attempt on goal in the match had to wait all the way until the 37th minute, Cowell received the ball on the edge of the area before turning inside a defender and hammering the ball into the top right of the net passed Staines keeper, 4 minutes later they had another go this time Hammond picking up the ball but only able to hit the side netting.

The second half was a carbon copy of the first with little to no action at all, with the only attempt worth mention was Staines only shot in the whole game which was a free kick in the 72nd minute, which just seemed to float into United keeper Hall's hands with ease. This game was by far the slowest and quietest game of the season but United got the job done so they will be happy.

The result leaves United firmly within reach of the play-off places, where as the result leaves Staines one place above the wooden spoon with a lot of work to do if they want to remain in the league, could a change of manager be coming?

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "It was a slow game today, but we got the points so we are happy after this result."

Staines Town boss Marcus Gayle had this to say: "One shot on target in the whole match is simply not good enough, if we want to stay in this league we need to do much better."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Legg, Bygrave, Kalama, Wishart (Brathwaite 89), Cox (c), N'Diaye (Stow 89), Gregson, Webb, Hammond (Oyenuga 67), Cowell
Subs not used. Beasant (GK), Ekim

Staines Town Lineup (5-3-2). Gamble, Ferrell, Drage (Ifil 75), Page, Brown, Tejan-Sie, Bor, Ferguson (Quiassaca 45), Wheeler (c), Hall (Munday 56), Garrod
Subs not used. Merson (GK), Rogers

Hayes & Yeading United confidently beat Whitehawk FC 2-1 at Kingfield Stadium to progress to Round 4 of FA Cup Qualifying.

Hayes & Yeading came into this game with a much changed squad against lower division opposition Whitehawk FC, happy news for fans at the stadium and at home is that keeper Beasant was on the bench and got around 10 minutes play time today after 6 weeks out with injury. United played solidly to see off Whitehawk FC 2-1 in front of another low crowd.

The first goal of the game came 9 minutes into the match when Hammond received a perfect lobbed through ball from Webb that he took into his stride and almost passed the ball around the corner to make it 1-0, Cowell nearly made it two 25 minutes in but saw his free kick just scrape over the bar to his disappointment. Whitehawks only chance of the first half came on 36 minutes when Newman found space but smashed the ball well wide of the target.

After the break Whitehawk got a goal almost immediately with the games second perfect cross which allowed Araba to take advantage of a rare defensive mistake by United and head the ball passed the keeper to make it 1-1. 12 minutes later United replied with a through ball from Cowell to Williams and the Whitehawk defense were caught napping as Williams was able to just smash the ball into the back of the net.

By the end of the match it could of been 6-1 with the amount of chances that United had, but the Whitehawk keeper well and truly kept the scoreline respectable for his side with United having 14 shots in total with 8 being on target. With this result United move one step closer to their target of the FA Cup to reach the First Round Proper for only the second time.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "We could of got 8 goals today, but all credit to their goalkeeper who kept us out, but I am really proud of the guys today, solid performance."

Whitehawk FC boss Darren Freeman had this to say: "It is always difficult playing opposition that are above you in the English ladder, but I felt today we very respectable, I think we played quite well defensively to hold them back."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall (Beasant 86), Cadmore (Legg 77), Pele, Kalama, Brathwaite, Cox (c), Williams, Gregson, Webb (Bentley 58), Hammond, Cowell
Subs not used. N'Diaye, Ekim, Oyenuga, Stow

FA Cup Trophy

After yesterdays victory against Whitehawk FC we have made it through to the final qualifying round of the FA Cup for this campaign! Two very good performances so far have seen us reach this stage. As you are aware we are hoping to reach the First Round Proper for only the second time as Hayes & Yeading United which would be great, let alone the financial boost such a competition provides the club.

We have been drawn against tough opposition away from home this time around, we will be playing Blue Square Premier side Braintree Town on the 20th of October 2012 at 3pm, we hope to see some of you make the journey up the M25 to see us play in this crucial match, tickets will be available at the box office.

Jamie Day sacked as Welling United Manager

Jamie Day (right) has been sacked.

Welling United manager Jamie Day has become the first manager to be sacked in the Blue Square South this season by his Chairman Paul Websdale. Day has been a player/manager for the club since November 2009 but a disappointing start to the season has seem them fall to 17th place in the table. Having drawn 3 of the last 5 league games made Websdale take the decision to look for a new face to try and revive their season.

The media is already speculating about his replacement, the current odds on favourite is Assistant Manager Gerry Taggart, but David Byrne, Gary Simpson and Simon Davey are also being linked to the job.

Started the season quite well, I hope you get into the FA Cup proper and get a run into the third round, where hopefully you will get a home Premier League tie and some money.

Keep up the good work.

A home Premier League tie would be fantastic, but we have to get there first which is going to be tough against a higher division side. Yeah its been an okay start with only 2 losses in 12 games in all competitions if i recall correctly. Hope you keep reading
