Scotland needs to introduce a sane football structure

From what I gather it will be 16 sides in the SPL with the bottom club automatically relegated and the side in 15th entering into a play-off with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed SPL-2 clubs and then a third tier in which the bottom side plays off with the winners of the regional leagues.

I can't see the SPL ever agreeing to a 16 team league, despite a lot of fans wanting it.

That article is a merger agreement, so that one league body oversee Scottish football next year. There won't be any league reform next season, other than maybe a play-off from Div 1 to SPL.

Playoffs between 11th in the SPL and 2nd-4th in Division 1, same structure as there are in the SFL currently.

That's the only major change, apart from the one governing body and fairer revenue distribution.

Yup, nothing about a 16 SPL. Just one governing body and play-offs introduced between the SPL and the second tier. Everything else is more behind-the-scenes.

Glad it's been approved. I've always wanted play-offs in all the divisions or no play-offs at all. Just so happens that they change the whole thing again when we get promoted.

The Irish League has that playoff thing since years back. Doesn't it make it awkward with there sometimes being 11 teams in the SPL and other times there's 12?

Edit nevermind, I'm being stupid. The extra team yoke was stuck in my head cos it happened in the Irish league once or twice due to teams going bust

That's us unbeaten against Hearts in 5 games now and our first win at their dump since 2009. Now their not paying double or even triple the wages they can actually afford we'll hopefully see the better half of Edinburgh coming out on top in derby games more often from now on.

Stokes' crossing was superb for the first two goals.

Glad to see it wasn't just us that McGibbon was completely pedestrian for.

By most accounts, he isn't great at football.

He's been ok for us this season but like most of our side just didn't turn up this afternoon.

Well, Celtic's victory today completes what has been a wonderful, memorable season in Scottish Football.

Personal highlights for me:

The crazy game at Hampden against Queen's Park, scoring twice in stoppage time to win 5-4 on our route to our first cup final in 41 years.

Our first cup final in my time and the absolute bedlam when we scored in added time to take the tie to penalties.

Winning 2-0 at Falkirk to win the First Division and promotion to the SPL

The form of new signings Aaron Muirhead, Stevie Lawless and Steven Craig, integral to our success.

Beating Morton 1-0 in front of a crowd of nearly 9,000 to all but seal the title

And last but not least, winning the re-arranged game at Cowdenbeath 3-0 after it was abandoned with us losing 2-1 with 20 minutes left - and me not remembering anything as I was absolutely blotto on Mad Dog and Lager.

So Hibs made it to 10 straight cup-final losses? That has to be a world record.

A load of feckin' idiots went mental last night claiming Celtic had a 'pro-Islam' flag mocking the soldier that died

Being pro-Islam has nothing to do with the extremists that murdered that soldier anyway. Ignorant fuckheads.

Exactly, it could have just been an Islam supporters group or something

He's been alright over his two seasons with us, more of a winger than an out-and-out striker.

Just signed a new contract to keep him with us for the next couple of years, his form in the run-in was like we had signed a new player.

Scored two important goals for us as the season wound down, the second goal in the first video and the 2nd that put us on the verge of being champions:

What Marc said. He started off pretty pish but he's coming onto his game now that he's changed position. He's bulked up a fair bit too but he needs to start using that more, definitely in the SPL. I like him though and glad to have him joined up for the new campaign. His goal against Airdrie (second one Marc posted) in the 92nd minute to win the game for us, pretty much confirming the league title and relegating Airdrie after it looked like they were going to win the game 1-0 (we scored in 90 and 92), is just incredible.

Ooh aah Christie Elliot.

Hearts have put their entire team up for sale in a last desperate attempt to keep afloat. Typically, they also signed Danny Wilson on a hefty contact a couple of weeks ago, outbidding SPL and Championship clubs. You think they'd learn...

He won't get the job. Allan Johnston will. Which is a shame as QOS had built a VERY good side.

Home to Motherwell then, assuming they survive the summer the first derby of the season at Swynecastle. Not the easiest start but a good indicator of where the squad is.
