I've created an example Config.xml file to use as a base when adding your own graphics into the game.
The file covers, people, clubs, competitions, nations, confederations and media and aims to give an example format for all eventualities.
There is an accompanying YouTube video which I will link to here to further explain how to use this file.
If you know of anything missed or an alternative method please let me know. I've tested each element, but if you find something doesn't work please share as well and I will investigate when I can.

Thanks, really helpful as I have a habit of never having any clean config files around!
One = missing though on the line below:
<record from "PICTURE" to="graphics/pictures/club/UNIQUE_ID/logo"/>
should be
<record from="PICTURE" to="graphics/pictures/club/UNIQUE_ID/logo"/>

@AnderzbazGaming what is the name of the skin you're using in the video?

Hello, Anderzbaz. I am new to all of this. So I wish to apologise for being “much too newbie” in advance. Thank you for offering up this help/advise with config files. What intrigued me about your YouTube video is the lines about altering or changing the match ball. That, to me, is a major shortcoming of the FM series – as the creators of this game ought to build into the game much easier flexibility for the gameplayer to make a few mouseclicks to simply select a better/different match ball prior to every match - whether it be for a nation's league, a cup match or an international match like World Cup nations qualifiers. Here is my question for you: Do you have knowledge of a good how-to video on replacing/substituing the FM(2x) game's built-in match ball? A simple example I would very much like to see demonstrated in video would be replacing the French Ligue1 or German Bundesliga used league ball with something easier to see – example: The generic (very bright) white ball with light blue flecks that was used as the FM game's generic ball in FM21 was excellent for ease of visibility for a 90 minute match. Or replacing it with something that looks very much like the real-world mustard-coloured Nike winter ball the English Premier League is using right now in mid-November 2024 - that shade darker yellow ball is bright and superb for visibility. If there is an easy-to-understand video out there sharing how gameplayers can do this act of matchball replacement for themselves in-game, that Help Video would be pure gold. If you (or anyone else reading this) happens to know how-to, I would be most appreciative. Thank you. And – I hope your Gunners do well this season. Cheers.

What do I do with the original file? can they coexist?
PoorJack
Do you actually understand what the file is for?
As the first line in the description suggests: “…an example Config.xml file to use as a base when adding your own graphics into the game.”
This is a template (probably a more straightforward and more accurate term than “example” and “base”) for building a brand new config.xml file for, e.g. your own facepack, logos or anything. This file, as a starter, helps you build this important config.xml file, so you can assign photos to players, logos to clubs, etc. As a matter of fact, there are several other ways to do this…
Back to your questions:
“What do I do with the original file?”
Not sure what you mean by “original file”… there's simply nothing to do with any other config.xml files, such as those from any graphics add-ons you download on the net.
As explained, you use this template to create a new config.xml file for some graphics that you try to add to the game. So, in other words, there's no existing config.xml file at all (that's why you need to create one, using this template or other ways), and you've nothing called “original file” here.
If, instead of creating a new facepack, you decide to add a few photos into a pack, then you just edit the existing config.xml file there (*Remember to backup first). In this case, since you're not building a new config.xml, you simply don't need this template.
"can they coexist?"
Suppose you have download or created some logo pack, kit pack and facepack, they should be placed into separated folders under “graphics”. Each has its own config.xml file there, and they don't touch each other at all. This should be the same case as you should have your own facepack (or anything) in another folder.
This is just a template… what happen next (e.g. co-existing with other files, or whatever) is all up to you.
PoorJack
Let's brainstorm together:
By the way, suppose you've a MacBook, so let's experiment: Add a few photos to some players using this template, and see if it works. It takes you 15 minutes or so.

Good Afternoon,
When downloading this file I don't get a file. I get the following (Attached pictures). Any help would be great.
Thanks Matt

“When downloading this file I don't get a file…”
According to your screenshot, you did get a file named tempconfig.xml, which you tried to open it with a web browser.
Try opening it with Notepad or any text editors?

How do you get trophies in the Xml file and apply them in the game, using fmXML only allows faces, comp logos, club logos ect.
PoorJack
Since you asked the question here, then suppose you know about this template… so may start with it: You may manually enter the entries… if not many.
If there are too many to type in, then may generate a whatever version (e.g. logo) first, and edit from there (never try… but sounds possible, isn't it?). Reference to a config.xml file for trophies: https://sortitoutsi.net/graphics/style/32/trophies-megapack
Alternatively, if fmXML doesn't have the option, how about https://sortitoutsi.net/content/848/fm-graphics-configurator-for-pc ? May have a look anyway.

That’s great yes but how do I set up a config file In the file to be able to put them in manually
PoorJack
So, remember why you're here on this page?
This is the discussion for a config.xml template. Scroll to the very top and download the file and start editing.
Or, as said, generate a config.xml file for logo (as a base) first using fmXML or FM Graphics Configurator, and edit from there.
Or, if too lazy, then may just grab a config.xml from your other graphics add-ons (assume that you've), then make a copy and you've a template.
May use the links in my last reply as a reference of what a config.xml for trophies looks like… Alternatively, of course, you may simply use the config.xml file from "Trophies Pack" to start.
Basically, I just repeat the previous reply… so, please read again, slow down and try to think a bit. Nothing technical, as it's just about editing a plain text file.
These are for player's face, yet similar to other graphics… just in case you need a reference about the editing part:

thanks and sorry for the inconvenience just a quick one is the Id for the trophy described as image or trophy in xml file
PoorJack
Don't say sorry to me… I've plenty of time to help. Slow down and read carefully… which can save yourself some time.
There's a link (Sports Interactive) in my first reply to you… I suggest that you may read it carefully (again), then you know about things about the ID and filename inside a config.xml file for trophies.
Or, simply open a config.xml file from the “Trophies Pack” and have a look… it's the most obvious example and the closest reference to you!
It's alright to ask questions, but we seem to be going nowhere. The situation is that there are very limited resources about adding trophy images manually to the game. That's why I urged you to think a bit in the last reply, in order to fill the gaps and link things up. There just aren't much more help we can offer… however, I think the information/resource here is more than enough, it does need some efforts though.
Anyway, it's time for your turn:
Please spend some time and read/watch the reference links first. Also, check on the “Trophies Pack” and try to understand how things work... this is probably the best reference. Then, may give it a go when you feel ready (remember to back up important files).

Thanks for your help figured it out and worked perfectly, you seem to be clued in on your stuff, do you have any idea how I get the last 16 of one competition qualify for next seasons version of a different competition. eg. The last 16 of the FAI intermediate Cup gains qualification for the FAI cup next season

Hello, does anyone here know if there's a code for the goalkeeper kits? I'm looking and can't find anything online or even with AI bots.
mons
Not possible, I'm afraid.

Sorry would it work for fm21
Latrell yard man
is there one for stadiums.
Latrell yard man
what am i doing wrong my stadium picture will not show up in the game
PoorJack
So, let's brainstorm together:
Suppose the above is enough to give you the answer… yes?
If not, OK, let's take some actions:
Bennyboy101
Can i use this on FM26 or is it only for earlier versions?
