I understand the collar/neck situation isn't great, but I can't get the collar edit to look good due to the shadows - Help would be appreciated if the submission isn't good enough :-)

The issue isn't with that, but with the fact that it's cropped too far from the chin. We want the player's face to fill the canvas for the 250px cutout, which would mean cropping the image along these red lines:
At the same time, we want all cuts to include a little bit of collar. Since in some sources like this one, the person in the image may have a longer neck than usual, this would be quite difficult to achieve naturally.

Yes, I understand - That's what I meant, I couldn't nudge the collar upwards without it looking bad, due to the shadows - So it was that, or a crop with no collar.
But I'll leave that one up to you guys then :-)
