Subscribe to this thread (by following these steps) so you get notifications whenever a new version is released.

If you have any issues, first read the FAQ.

This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official updates come out.

Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2026 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These fixes are all fully save-game compatible.

Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file.

Once you download this file, you’ll see these folders after extracting the ZIP:

📁 dbc
📁 editor data
📁 edt
📁 lnc

STEP 1.

If you are playing an FM23 or FM24 save in FM26, then this fix needs to be also installed in the folders in the below image IN ADDITION TO THOSE INDICATED BELOW the image:

OPEN

Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 26\shared\data\database\db\2600

OPEN

3. Copy and paste the following path, then press Enter:

~/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 26/

4. If you don’t see an editor data folder, create one manually.

The folder name must be exactly:

editor data

(all lowercase, with a space)

5. Make sure the editor data folder is inside the Football Manager 26 directory. Not in Documents, Public, or anywhere else.

6. Place the downloaded .fmf files (for example, from the Real Name Fix or other mods) into this editor data folder.

7. Restart Football Manager 26, and when starting a new game, ensure the files are ticked/selected under Database → Editor Data Files.

What doc have you edited?

Can we have a screenshot of your editor data folder? Showing clearly the full path.

The City, Club and Stadium Names. I added a 3-letter name to every club in it. so they look good on scoreboards, especially champions league

The video in the opening post hasn't been updated yet with the extra steps in yesterday's release, but you can use the guide from this FM24 video from this point on:

thanks @kenolio, @pereiraagb, @Obyt14 and @Uzio for your suggestions 🍻

Yesterday's fix included all the submitted Italian female team name changes. I know there is Como, Napoli, Moncalieri and Ternana whose short name includes Women. Can you two tell me whether it should be removed in some or in all of them please?

All seems fine here 😕 Have you tried restarting Steam and starting a new career to see if that works?

This is an issue with the strings for the Italian competition changes not being included in this fix for the Champions League and Europa League, but only for the Conference League. A save game-compatible fix for this will be included with the next release 🙂

Not that I'm aware of, yet.

As per the installation instructions:

You have to click “show packaged contents” on the fm.app and game_plugin.bundle folders. This basically means that you need to right-click (or Control + click) on fm.app (or game_plugin.bundle) and choose Show Package Contents that lets you open up the folders inside the app icon.

~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 26/fm.app/Contents/PlugIns/game_plugin.bundle/Contents/Resources/shared/data/database/db/2600

Once you’re in that db/2600 folder, that’s where you drop the real name fix files and don’t forget to restart FM afterwards so the changes take effect.

The fix works, so it'll be an issue your end. Can you provide a screenshot of your editor data folder, displaying clearly the full path?

Yes.

As per point 1 of the FAQ:

1. Club name changes were working fine in the beta but now I've downloaded the new version of the fix, they don't work anymore. What's happened?

Reason: When club name changes are done via lnc files, this removes the clubs' nickname, which is not the case if editor data files are used, which is why the latter are preferred. Since editor data files didn't work with the FM24 beta, club name changes were done via lnc files during the beta version. Once the full game was released, club name changes were switched back to the intended delivery method, i.e. via editor data files.

Solution: Use this workaround to solve the issue in your existing save game.

If this is for a completely new career, the fix works, so it'll be an issue your end. Can you provide a screenshot of your editor data folder, displaying clearly the full path?

This is an English-language forum, please post in English.

Como and Napoli remains with Women in their short name (different team from SSC Napoli and Como 1907). Ternana and Moncalieri no Women on their short name.

You're trying to open the dbc file with Notepad, when the workaround is clearly explained as being for the lnc file…

The top two Spanish leagues are not listed under their correct names; they are LaLiga EA Sports and LaLiga Hypermotion. The 1RFEF is also not listed under its correct name. Its actual name is Primera Federación Versus E-Learning, Group I and Group II. The second-tier Asian club competition is also incorrectly named. Its real name is AFC Champions League Two. Thank you, and excellent work.

This is due to you not playing in English, which is the default language of the lnc files. I'll add the Spanish language version for the Spanish competitions.

What is the UID of the second-tier Asian club competition please?

I'll add him, but I don't have the time (and, frankly, neither the will) to add any other missing staff members, and their relationships and their playing and non-playing history all manually. If there's anyone out there who's willing to lend a hand, let me know!

Is there a reason why so many clubs have just a short name? Was looking to start a career in Japan but almost all clubs are just named after their city. For clarification I don't have a savegame.

If you quit FM, restart Steam and try making a new save game - does that work? Fixed it for me yesterday, no idea how and why tbh.

All clubs have a long name and a short name. In most screens, you'll just see a short name, however, due to character length limitations. What do you mean you don't have a save-game? How do you know if there's an issue or not? 😕

I meant I haven't started a game yet. I will say what confuses me is that in Japan there is a couple clubs with longer names. Tokyo Verdy for example is shown is full name. But most others are just the city name. Seems kind of weird.
