How come there isn't an option to have a pop up notification for Private Messages?

Just asking because I have missed a couple of PMs as a result and the person that I've sent my reply to probably won't know either.

It appears in red in the top left but I guess I could add a popup as well. To be honest you're the first person to ask for it
