So last week i did the live data update for fm26 since then started a new save with my partner and everytime we've got to around the first game it has crashed throwing up an application error saying serious error game will have to close, i've tried everything to get it to work and nothings working. Ive now had to delete the update files and this has allowed us to go past this point do we know if this is a widespread problem with the data update and any ideas on how to sort this? Or am i just going to have to wait for the official update to get the january transfer updates

We have not heard widespread reports with the Data Update. I would estimate there are many thousands of people using it without reporting faults.
Unfortunately, it’s tricky to troubleshoot for me personally as I haven’t made the move to FM26. As a starting point, it might be worth trying to use just the ‘Contracts’ file without the other files - specifically, try and load without the individual nation files that are part of the update. It’s just about trying to isolate the issue.
The main ‘Contracts’ file doesn’t alter any league structures, which are more prone to causing hard crashes at specific points in the game. I’d start there.

Thanks i tried this last night and had the same error message come up taking all 5 files off has meant i can get past the first game of season, for some reason its not liking this update i uninstalled my graphics driver reinstalled that to the one prior to the crashes and that didnt work its wierd because ive used the sortitoutsi data update for years and never encountered this issue until this one. Which is well bloody annoying because i like to keep it updated

Try and start a game using only the Contracts and Player Attributes files, if you haven’t already. That’s what I’d do in your situation just to try and isolate the cause a bit more.

Its very wierd i tried that and it did the same thing thought it was every other file but the contracts so tried it with every file and took 1 out and started a new game the common file in all of the save games was the contract folder its very strange as my save before the update is in season 3 with 3 teams, now i've taken off the updates and reverted to teams as they are at the start it went past the first game its so frustrating, and as the logo, kit and facepacks and team name fixes i have on ive had from the start im assuming it cant be anything to do with them unless the live update clashes with them in some way

Just to be clear as your paragraph has alot of words and it's difficult to extract the important information, you are saying “100% it is the contracts file and only the contracts file” all other files work fine?
Can you also provide the save file where this error occurs and describe the exact steps to make it happen?

I tried it last night with just the contracts file on from the update got to the first game of season and the game crashed just as it had when i used it with the other files, when i get chance tonight i will hopefully be able to provide the save file then, I've just gone through all the meetings as you do and set the teams up then selected the go to match after confirming both teams and then the error message attached earlier pops up

I tried it with a brand new save last night and managed to get 5 games in without it crashing so it looks like it wasnt the contracts file but maybe because i was saving over a corrupt save, im going to have to try adding the files in and starting new saves to isolate the file causing the crash

@Andy Margrave it seems like you may have been suffering with this issue which is due to the main game and not our update. Do you have an assistant manager?

It could be that as Brentford dont have an assistant but then again it didnt crash last night strange but thank you i will put all the downloads on and make sure i have an assistant before going to first game

Im sure this is what it will have been, i knew there had to be more too it as never had any problems or complaints about you guys ever and been using you for years
