UPDATE DECEMBER 8th
A new update called 2026.01 was just published which will confuse some people.
To keep it really, really simple just take one of these two steps.
- If you have already downloaded "2026.00 complete" in December: Download the 2026.01 changes file
- If you haven't, then delete all previous faces and download “2026.01 complete”
If you're getting confused or your files are in a mess, just follow (2).
if you still find things difficult you're overcomplicating it, just follow (2) exactly and don't try and add extra steps.

Due to a bug in FM26 that means that two graphics cannot have the same name we have had to make the unfortunate decision to rename all our files to have a prefix of “face_”.
This change will break attempts to update the megapack.
To try and avoid confusion i've deleted the previously released 2026.00, 2026.01 and 2026.02 updates and rereleased a single “2026.00” pack with the updated file names that contains everything that used to be in 2026.00, 2026.01 and 2026.02.
The easiest fix is for everyone to redownload the 2026.00 complete pack, this will ensure your recent downloads are tracked so you know which updates you have and haven't downloaded.
Steps to take
- Delete any of our cut out faces you have already installed
- Go to the main Cut Out Faces page and download the Complete Pack
Do not make these common mistakes
- DO NOT just download the most recent changes file and try to install it, it won't work by itself.
- DO NOT just download the updated config.xml by itself, it will not work without renaming all 500,000+ PNG files.
- DO NOT download the complete file and then also download the changes file with the same number. The complete file contains everything you need.
FAQ
Why not wait for SI to fix the bug?
The game has been out for over a month and this hasn't been fixed yet. I also believe this bug was reported to SI by researchers who had access to the game weeks before it was first released on Steam, so its actually been longer than a month and still no fix or comment from SI (they never comment on graphics related content).
I'm still playing FM24 so this doesn't affect me
Right now we only release one pack which should work with both so unfortunately you also have to deal with this.
How do I use the FM Mod Loader to rename files?
After downloading there's a big “Prefix folder contents” button which will then guide you through the process.
My last download was 2026.00 or 2026.01 but not 2026.02
Just download the new 2026.00 complete pack
My last download was a 2025,XX version
Your options are (1) download the new 2026.00 complete pack or (2) download each individual changes file and then use the FM Mod Loader to rename the files.
Can I use the FM Mod Loader
Alternatively if you don't wish to redownload you can use the FM Mod Loader which has a function to bulk rename files and update the config.xml.
If something goes wrong with this please just (1) delete your existing faces and (2) redownload the Complete Pack rather than keep asking for support with what went wrong in your attempts to rename.
Can't I rename them myself without the mod loader?
You can try these scripts if you feel confident with computers.
Mac/Linux:

You will then also have to download the config.xml's that are attached in the first comment.

So I'm a little lost. I've downloaded the 2026.03 complete file and then have downloaded the config file from the forums. I have placed the config file in the faces folder and then the faces folder into the graphics folder but still I am not having any faces show up in game? I am struggling to see where I have went wrong or what I am missing. I am not that computer savvy either so please explain anything I can do or check to me as if I am 5.

You didn't need to do this. If you still have the 2026.03 complete file, get the config file from there and put it in the faces folder.

Thanks for replying. I can't see a config file in the complete file though? Just the faces. I have downloaded and extracted it twice and still can't see any config.

I have done 3 times now. Could it be the program I'm using to extract it isn't working the way it should? I'm using The Unarchiver on Mac. What is the recommended tool to use?

Use Winrar for Mac. How large is the file you've downloaded? Should be 14.3G

I can see that you haven't downloaded the New Players Facepack since December 15th, you should download it again, it's updated every single day. Reporting problems on a file from 3 months ago is just going to confuse things. Please make sure you're using the latest version before reporting issues.
Also just to confuse things further SI are going to release a patch today so you'll have to redownload again after they release that patch (and after we've updated our file).

His ID in the facepack and the FM24 update is definitely 2002086380 which is different to the numbers you've listed.
You'll have to describe your setup and what you're doing in more detail for me to understand where you're doing wrong.
Often the best solution if you've got things messed up is just to reinstall the update and the facepack from scratch.

As you can see, that number is different to the one in FM24 as you've confirmed. And here he is in the megapack.
I will try downloading the new player facepack but it's just odd because these faces are there, they've just all got different numbers. I had them all but wanted to update, so I downloaded your latest megapack then suddenly they were all gone. But yeah I'll give the new players pack a try.

They have different numbers because you're playing FM24 and they were added in FM26. We can't use the numbers that SI gave them in FM26, when we create them in FM24 they get a different number, that's why we have separate “New Players Megapacks” for both FM24 and FM26.
I realise the UI can be a little confusing sometimes and i'm open to all feedback on how it could be better, but i'm not sure how to do so in this case. When FM27 comes around we're going to wind up having 3 different ID's and trying to show all 3 is going to be really confusing

So long as you have the latest complete pack it should be working if you've tried to do an update rather than download the complete pack then you may have missed up and should just start again with the latest complete pack

Are you updating the data update without updating the new players pack? If so that would be why, you also need to redownload the new players facepack.

FM26 is not able to successfully process/handle more than one image with the same filename - even if they are different game item types.
To work around this, the faces were prefixed so there were no instances of duplicated file names when using our mega packs together.

This is something SI have introduced, citing licensing restrictions. I do not believe it’s in the community’s hands to solve, unfortunately.
