This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official updates come out.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2026 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These fixes are all fully save-game compatible.
Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file.
Once you download this file, you’ll see these folders after extracting the ZIP:

STEP 1.
If you are playing an FM23 or FM24 save in FM26, then this fix needs to be also installed in the folders in the below image IN ADDITION TO THOSE INDICATED BELOW the image:

DELETE only the dbc , edt and lnc folders

You have to click “show packaged contents” on the fm.app and game_plugin.bundle folders. This basically means that you need to right-click (or Control + click) on fm.app (or game_plugin.bundle) and choose Show Package Contents that lets you open up the folders inside the app icon.
Here’s how to do it on Mac:
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command + Shift + G to bring up “Go to Folder.”
3. Copy and paste this path, then hit Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 26/fm.app/Contents/PlugIns/game_plugin.bundle/Contents/Resources/shared/data/database/db/2600
Once you’re in both the db/2600 and db/2620 folders, that’s where you drop the real name fix files and don’t forget to restart FM afterwards so the changes take effect.

COPY the 4 files located in the EDITOR DATA folder in the downloaded pack

PASTE to \Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 26\editor data
This is also the same folder to be used for Gamepass.
Equivalent folder for Mac
Follow these steps to correctly place the editor data folder for Football Manager 26 on macOS.
1. Open Finder.
2. Press Command (⌘) + Shift + G to open the Go to Folder window.
3. Copy and paste the following path, then press Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 26/
4. If you don’t see an editor data folder, create one manually.
The folder name must be exactly:
editor data
(all lowercase, with a space)
5. Make sure the editor data folder is inside the Football Manager 26 directory. Not in Documents, Public, or anywhere else.
6. Place the downloaded .fmf files (for example, from the Real Name Fix or other mods) into this editor data folder.
7. Restart Football Manager 26, and when starting a new game, ensure the files are ticked/selected under Database → Editor Data Files.

About faces not showing up on the national teams the admin says from the bug tracker site that it was an intentional change for the update because of licensing reasons.
Is this something that potential could be fixed with the real name fix ?

This seems to be for an existing career. If this is the case, the fix needs to be also installed for the 2600 folder, as per the installation instructions, and not the just the 2620 folder.

This worked for all previous versions, on latest i have Napoli with wrong name and also some Portuguese clubs with 3 letters, like MRT that shoud be “Marítimo” or TND that should be "Tondela" for example. What's wrong guys?

I've made a desktop application in Flutter to do all the deleting and adding folders when doing the Real Name fix. Especially handy as the you seem to have to repeat this after every update nowadays. The GitHub repo is below:

I have tested on Mac but it would be cool if anyone who knows Flutter could test on Windows (or even Linux). You will still have to download the real name fix file from this website too. In the meantime I will fill out the how to sometime this weekend.

For those experiencing errors with team names after today's game official latest update, reinstall the entire last v.4.2 file upload, delete and copy the v.4.2 files, remove the hashtags, and repeat all the steps. It should now work without any problems. Really thanks to @mons

Hi, I did this fix and it worked great, but since the latest update in game, I downloaded the new version of this fix & installed it all into the files but it isn't fixing the names etc. It is still using the fake names after the I do the fix. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Hi @mons , I don't know if the file does anything beside this, but Japan.dbc prevents January real life transfers to happen in game. If it does nothing else besides blocking transfers it can be deleted.

I love this game, it's the only one I like to play. I don't play others games. And yet im not happy with this game. I hope this change

First of all, congratulations to everyone involved in these updates, as I can imagine the headache of having to respond to each person individually, especially when more issues come in than praise.
That said, to help reduce the volume of comments, I suggest updating the installation guide screenshots so they accurately reflewhat is actually included in the downloadable file, since many users are just players and may not understand whether a certain file is really necessary or not.
I noticed two inconsistencies:
1) In dbc/permanent, the file forbidden names.dbc is not present
2) In edt/permanent, there is a file called jpn_loans.edt
