@Bryan Cheetham what issues are you having with the no dates file? I am not aware of anyone reporting any.

I was getting French youngsters, around 16-18 years old as free agents who should still be at there clubs. I had numerous other files plus the real fixtures/results loaded aswel though, so could be any of them. I think what was happening though with the game dates being changed, it was releasing players who possibly didn't have a contract expiry date. Im going to stick with FM26 anyway & if nobody else has reported it, then its possibly one of the other files I have.

It does, in general terms, include promotions/relegations - however, it doesn't yet include the structure for any nation for 2026/27 because 2025/26 hasn't finished yet.

We update the files as quickly as time allows, but only after the full completion of the season.

Just to manage your expectations - I think it is unlikely they’ll be updated on Sunday. In fact, I can pretty much guarantee they won’t be done that fast. Other Playoff Finals further down the divisions don’t take place until after that, for example.

Separately to that, I am working on a file that will extend the playable leagues a fair few divisions further down. Some of these constitutions get finalised/confirmed a bit later, too.

Start of June is a reasonable estimate. Of course we prioritise England as we know it is popular. But we will also be working on a whole host of other nations so I’m just advising patience/caution on when to expect things done.

Yeah I appreciate that mate thank you, I completely understand. When starting a new save with say Leicester would the players AI recognise they’re now in league one and request to leave because they’ve been relegated ?

Hi,

Sorry to be a pain but is there a start date to select when setting up a new game (FM26) to have Arsenal as Champions and Wolves, Burnley and West Ham going down etc. Sorry if it's obvious.

Not yet. We will publish progress on league updates in the following thread as we manage to get them done:

https://sortitoutsi.net/content/76916/202627-league-updates-fm24-fm26

Best to keep track of everything through there. Updates will be released for FM24 and FM26 to reflect the 2026/27 season.

I've moved this comment to one of our other discussion threads - as it doesn't really pertain directly to the 2026/27 nation/league updates where your original post landed.

In any case, David Sullivan is a person who can be edited through the website's submission system and, I can see, that his removal from West Ham has already been submitted/approved: https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-data-update/person/4000667. Our community tend to be pretty quick in recognising and submitting changes, especially high-profile ones. So the next instance of the Data Update available (overnight tonight on the free tier or already on the paid tier) to you will have him released.

I can see why this is (sort of). It's a mix-up with the linking between created and official instances of players. This means the created version of Amir Ibragimov is being created in both FM24 and FM26 (whereas it should be FM24 only).

@Footygamer - can you purge any links from created players to 2000392429 (which is the official instance of Amir Ibragimov), please? I will then link 2100060712 (the active, created instance of the same player) to it. I get an error when trying to assign this link as it flags that “FM ID 2000392429 is already assigned to: Gazi Ibragimov”.

I picked up on a couple of anomalies during some testing of the contract change…

Players who have had their data manually changed to “set for release” to reflect their real-life status have actually now got an “extra year” on their in-game contract.

Examples include, but not limited to:

Dan Neil (Sunderland)

Dan Barlaser (Boro)

Jacob Brown (Luton)

Callum Wright (Plymouth?)

There are others I am sure - I believe anyone with the status “exploring options at end of contract” need releasing. I suspect it's because we're in the period just prior to actual contracts expiring and the in-game date not being 2026 at start.

Maybe there's a mass correction that can be applied?

Thanks

@thehet - I moved your comment to the general thread, just FYI.

It will be because the number of years it offsets put the contract end date to a date that has passed in-game when you start. You’re right that it’s because we‘re in the specific period we are, now, where we have ‘rolled forward to next season’ prior to 1st July. We do this because the community mostly want the transfers done earlier. But I think we don’t explicitly ‘release’ those players who are set to leave. I don’t know why - perhaps to avoid reversing the status on the players that end up staying after all. Perhaps just an oversight. Perhaps some other reason.

@Footygamer - thoughts on releasing all players that are ‘set to leave’, to avoid them having the first in-game season at the club they are about to leave (in real-life)? Alternatively, we can also just tolerate it and ‘wait it out’ - as their futures get resolved, submissions will take care of wherever they should be.

Hi! I'm new to the forums and not sure if I'm asking the q in the right place. I have used the free update for years and purchased the annual sub last night.

My q: in the current fm24 data update, Tottenham remain qualified for the opening season's champions league despite being listed as finishing 17th. I'm wondering if this is intentional, or will be changed? If not, could someone point me in the direction of advice to edit the files myself using the pregame editor? I'm technically capable, but the editor goes over my head a bit.

Hi, I added multiple players to Data update, but I noticed something strange with the duplicate check.

The real existing player already seems to exist here:

Aron Babaj
FM ID: 2000476614
DOB: 2009-04-23
Club: Milan Futuro / A.C. Milan

On the player page, it even shows him as a possible duplicate:

Real Aron Babaj - FM ID: 2000476614 - 2009-04-23 - Milan Futuro - Link to 2000476614

But when I go to the Create Person duplicate confirmation screen, the existing real Aron Babaj does not appear in the possible duplicates list. Instead, only my newly created/variant entry appears at the top:

Aron Babaj - A.C. Milan - 2009-04-23

This makes it easy to accidentally create a duplicate, because the real database entry with FM ID 2000476614 is not clearly shown/linked on the create duplicate screen, even though the system clearly knows it exists on the other page.

Could this be checked? It seems like the duplicate detection is not properly showing the existing real Aron Babaj entry during the create-person confirmation step.

Same for others (Those didn't show up in possible duplicates screen)

Hello everyone, with this update some of the players are injured. For example, Bellingham is out for 5 weeks. Why is this happening? schlotterbeck also 3 months injury?

I think you're likely referring to the FM26 Data Update. In which case, the explanation is a straightforward one: at this time, the Data Update isn't doing anything to alter the injuries status of any player in the database. As such, any ‘starter injuries’ that are configured in the official SI database will still be showing up.

In the FM24 Data Update, we introduced a ‘Remove Injuries’ file (I don't know exactly when but, probably, at the end of the first season of that game's lifecycle) to strip out these now-obsolete starter injuries. I suspect the same will be done for FM26 in the near future…but it's just not been done yet as the game has just arrived at the end of its first season and, since then, we've been hard at work and prioiritising promotions/relegations and so on.

Just for clarity: we don't maintain a continuous reflection of injuries, globally (i.e. injuries aren't added to players who suffer them in real-life) because, well, that would be almost impossible to keep up with and it wouldn't really make sense to have ‘any current injuries’ taking place at game start.

Thank you for the clarification. Yes, I was referring to the FM26 Data Update.

I appreciate the explanation regarding the injury data and the reasoning behind not maintaining real-world injuries on a continuous basis. It makes sense that the focus has been on promotions, relegations, and other major database updates following the end of the first season.

I’ll keep an eye out for a possible "Remove Injuries" file in a future update. Thanks again for taking the time to explain.

As I use a lot of nation/league updates from other creators, like MasterIgor, I suspect I can't use most of the nation files in this update.

Is there a list of what each of the files does, so I can see which ones I can use safely in my db setup?

And is there a file that makes sure all the right nations are in the world cup, preferably in the right groups too?

And is there a file that makes sure all the right nations are in the world cup, preferably in the right groups too?

I am not sure there is anything exactly published that has the file list…however, I'm happy to provide a summary which should help your understanding.

Broadly speaking, there are two ‘types’ of files that are part of the FM24 Data Update - nation updates and non-nation updates. This isn't a formal classification, I'm just separating them this way for the purpose of this explanation…as I am familiar with MasterIgor's files and what they do and it'll help me explain more simply.

Firstly, for the nation updates files - our Data Update is structured so that the relevant changes to any individual nation's structure/situation are held in the file named after that nation (so for example: Germany (League), Italy (League), Spain (League), etc). The actual contents of the changes in those files will only be some/all of the following: updated Nation/Advanced Rules, if there has been a need to make those to reflect reality and the promotions/relegations and history entries for clubs/competitions that take place in that nation.

In-game in FM24, the individual files that contain Nation/Advanced Rules are those that show up with the nation's flag when you are choosing which Editor Data files to activate. FM24 only allows one file to be activated, at a time, that adjusts the Nation/Advanced Rules for any given nation…which makes sense, because otherwise the game would be trying to ‘merge’ different structures together about how the competitions work.

In many situations, the original rules implemented by Sports Interactive are still valid/up-to-date and, in those cases, we provide a database changes only file for that nation. These files do not show the nation's flag in the setup screens and will contain only promotions/relegations and club/competition history entries.

MasterIgor's files typically include Nation/Advanced Rules and so it's true that you won't be able to use his file for a nation alongside the Data Update file for the same nation if the Data Update file contains Nation/Advanced Rules. You can, often, use MasterIgor's file alongside the Data Update file for the same nation if our file only has database changes.

If they do not work together, this means that whatever Nation/Advanced Rules MasterIgor's file is setting up results in a mismatch with the promotions/relegations we have applied in our file. An example might include a scenario where MasterIgor has made a lower division playable and specified a set number of teams, but our Data Update file hasn't ensured those originally-non-playable divisions have the right number of teams. Because we are generally catering for the ‘default playable levels’ we don't always have time to ensure the non-playable levels also match the real-world structure. Having said that, many of the files do contain accurate structure for non-playable levels and so are compatible with MasterIgor's Nation/Advanced Rules files, assuming he has reflected reality. I know this because I, myself, combine them when playing, much like you are trying to I suppose.

Now, on the non-nation updates side, each file has more of a one-off purpose and, typically, they are not doing anything related to league/national structures and so things like MasterIgor's files are typically compatible. All the same, here's a summary of the main files and what they contain. In all cases, I'm just naming the file using the ‘end’ of the filename - they all start with “sortitoutsi.net FM24 Data Update” as well:

Contracts.fmf - this is the ‘main’ file that contains all of the changes to Person records related to transfers, contractual adjustments and so on; both players and non-playing staff.

Remove Bans.fmf - this removes the default/original global footballing bans configured in the FM24.3 database, as they are now obsolete.

Remove Injuries.fmf - same as above, but for injuries.

Remove Media Predictions.fmf - this removes the hard-configured start-of-game media predictions, where they exist, allowing the game to generate them dynamically on game start.

Europe.fmf / South America.fmf - these adjust first-season continental qualifications for the respective continents.

Player History.fmf - this adds playing history records reflecting the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons to players all around the world.

Age and Contract Years.fmf - this adjusts all Person records, in the default/original 24.3 database, to have DOBs and original contract data that is three years earlier than the real-life date. This is done to reflect the passing of three years in real-life since the game was released (i.e. we are reflecting 2026 at game start, despite the in-game date still being 2023).

New People.fmf - this file contains all newly-created Person records who have been added to the database. These are all players and mostly young footballers (there is something around 25,000 at current count).

There are other files as well, but these are what I consider the ‘core’ ones, alongside the nation updates. Where the purpose of a file is to reflect the latest season, please note that not every file has yet been updated to reflect 2026/27. We have a tracking thread for specific progress that is being maintained here: https://sortitoutsi.net/content/76916/202627-league-updates-fm24-fm26.

On your final question, regarding the World Cup - our Data Update does not include anything like that. I am not aware of any other creators who have released such a thing - but perhaps someone, somewhere, has. It's important to remember that the World Cup - in FM24 - will still take place in-game in 2026…so it is a bit ‘offset’ in terms of timing.

Hi everyone. Players whose contracts haven't officially expired yet are starting as free agents in the game—for example, Mauro Icardi and Leon Goretzka (both with June 30th dates). There are currently a lot of star players listed as free agents. Is it possible to access a data update from a few months ago? The current database is really frustrating.

We do this because the vast, vast majority of our playerbase are very keen to start having the experience for ‘next season’ as early as possible - in particular over the summer/off-season. Every year, we ‘roll forward’ to next season from around 1st June, instead of 1st July, for this reason - which includes ‘processing’ all of the future transfers that officially take place on 1st July and making them go through.

If we left everything following the official/real-world dates - which we do all the rest of the year - we would spend the entire month of June bombarded with complaints and explaining why ‘next season’ isn't reflected yet. Just wanted to explain that so you understand the rationale.

I must admit, I'm not 100% on exactly which date this cutover took place this year. However, the historical/previous releases of the Data Update can be accessed via https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-data-update/releases. You could try the oldest one on there, which is from 1st June. Maybe it'll get you what you are after.
