This NewGen Facepack contains 260,000 new faces for newgens in Football Manager.
Newgens (sometimes called regens) are the new players that the game generates, primarily for youth intakes, but sometimes also to fill teams in playable leagues, new backroom staff and other people like members of the press and agents.
By default the faces associated with these players are awful. This pack fixes that.
The pack currently consists of:
~200,000 male player pictures across 60 different ethnicity categories
~45,000 female player pictures across 32 different ethnicity categories. Got major update with Womens Football 3 pack from June.
~18,000 staff pictures for both male and female.
FM26/FM24/FM23 Windows, Mac and SteamDeck/Linux Instructions
This is the main installation method that allows you to use the pack in its full glory.

On Mac this now requires no SIP deactivation and no sudo and no other workarounds.
Lazy Install using the Bundle Replacement Method
If you are lazy and don't care too much about the faces follow these instructions. However be warned that this method is severely limited and only has 7000 male and 7000 female picture total, so you may see repeat faces on multiple profiles or incorrectly assigned skin colours and ethnicities.
This method should only be considered as a demo version of the actual full pack.
- Download “ui-newgen-portraits_assets_all.bundle”
- Place the file here:
- Windows: \Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 26\fm_Data\StreamingAssets\aa\StandaloneWindows64\ui-newgen-portraits_assets_all.bundle'
- Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 26/fm.app/Contents/Resources/Data/StreamingAssets/aa/StandaloneOSX/ui-newgen-portraits_assets_all.bundle
- In FM26 > Preferences > Detailed > Audio & Visual.
- Check ✅ Show pictures of players (and staff) who have been generated by the game
- Check ✅ Use pre-generated pictures of players (and staff) rather than dynamically-generated images
- Restart Football Manager 26

FM24 using the save scanner version and despite working previously it's now showing my in game year as 0 and only finds 52 entities total. I'm in 2056 with ~180k players if that's relevant.

I just wanted to give a quick update: After extensive testing with several saves I can confirm that the recognition of women vs men works flawlessly. I also monitored female staff. The only thing I noticed: sometimes, female staff does not get a face assigned. But that is easy to fix. The root cause of my problem was indeed the beta structure of the save.

It just closes without any message and also on any action so I don't think it's connected to the method of reading I'm using (memory though).

Womens Footbal Pack 3 has been released!
16 completely new categories across all continents, refresh of the spanish pack, and a total of almost 28,000 pictures! The Main Pack (both here and on my web) has been updated to include PP17 and WF3.

This is amazing, thank you so much for your hard work! What is the best way to update the installation to get these new faces if we are using a prior version? I don't want to mess up the faces in my existing men's save.

You simply install it via the Updates section of the software, new pictures will be used automatically next time you do a scan. For existing saves you do a scan in Preserve mode - that will keep existing faces while using newer pictures for new assignments.
If you want better faces for female staff you can activate that option on the Settings page, that will also make it active for your next scan.

when is the best time to run the first scan after starting a brand-new save (in the German Bundesliga / June 2025 ingame)?
Probably after the first youth intake in early 2026 (ingame), right? And then run a new scan after every subsequent youth intake?

You can do it straight away, there are newgens from day 1, especially young players in smaller clubs or staff.
But for top 3-5 leagues you probably, as you say, can wait until your first youth intake as biggest clubs have so many young real players added to them, that the game doesnt need to generate anything at the begining.

Hi, why does one Croatian agent in my FM24 not have a picture? I also couldn't find this agent in the config files. Is it because the face pack doesn't include Croatia as a country or region?

Hi, probably simply got missed by the scanner, this happens. Especially with Staff that is not easily serchable or exportable from the game.
There will be a major update to the software in the very near future that might improve things.

Some of female staff's regens are not working.
Plus!) Not all cases have been identified, but what I have confirmed so far is as follows.
* European Regens (British Federation, Germany, etc.) don't seem to apply properly.
* Caribbean (for example Jamaica), Regen in Africa seems to be working normally.
* I confirmed that Asia applies to Japan and China, but I don't know the rest yet.

This is on SI, if you find her ID in the config.xml, but the game wont load it, then it is an FM bug. My handover point to FM is exactly that config.xml file. What is there should be loaded by FM.

After testing several times, I found that my youth players only receive portraits when I set the PA limit to below 5. Could you please explain why this happens?
Also, if I generate faces without applying any PA limit, are there any risks after playing for several seasons? For example, could it cause performance issues or other problems later in the save?

I apologize if this has been answered before, but how does one update the mod without replacing the faces in an existing save? I have a save with men only, and one to create one with women only, but don't want to lose/have the faces change in my first save.

Hi, just to be sure I have understood you correctly:
If you keep PA filter as off (set to 0) - they are being assigned
If you set to 1-5 - they are being assigned
Anything above 5 - not assigned
Am I correct?

What software version are you on? Have many newgens have been found in your save? At “extracting” phase it populates the newgen database, so on big amount of entities and on first run it can take a bit of time, but not ages…

You crate separate Savegame profile in the software. 1 save = 1 profile. Then they are independent and you can switch between them with ease before you fire up FM.

Just to clarify, in case it helps: I originally set the PA filter to >= 130, but my youth players did not receive portraits. I then tried >= 100, >= 80, and >= 50, but the result was the same—none of my youth players received portraits.
After that, I changed the PA filter to >= 0, and my youth players finally received portraits.
To test further, I changed the filter again to either >= 20 or >= 10 (I can't remember exactly which one), and at that point the portraits disappeared again.
Finally, I set the filter to >= 5, and the portraits were assigned correctly once more.
