This NewGen Facepack contains 260,000 new faces for newgens in Football Manager.
Newgens (sometimes called regens) are the new players that the game generates, primarily for youth intakes, but sometimes also to fill teams in playable leagues, new backroom staff and other people like members of the press and agents.
By default the faces associated with these players are awful. This pack fixes that.
The pack currently consists of:
~200,000 male player pictures across 60 different ethnicity categories
~45,000 female player pictures across 32 different ethnicity categories. Got major update with Womens Football 3 pack from June.
~18,000 staff pictures for both male and female.
FM26/FM24/FM23 Windows, Mac and SteamDeck/Linux Instructions
This is the main installation method that allows you to use the pack in its full glory.
Simply follow this guide here: https://ngregens.org/fm26savereader_guide
On Mac this now requires no SIP deactivation and no sudo and no other workarounds.
Lazy Install using the Bundle Replacement Method
If you are lazy and don't care too much about the faces follow these instructions. However be warned that this method is severely limited and only has 7000 male and 7000 female picture total, so you may see repeat faces on multiple profiles or incorrectly assigned skin colours and ethnicities.
This method should only be considered as a demo version of the actual full pack.
- Download “ui-newgen-portraits_assets_all.bundle”
- Place the file here:
- Windows: \Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 26\fm_Data\StreamingAssets\aa\StandaloneWindows64\ui-newgen-portraits_assets_all.bundle'
- Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 26/fm.app/Contents/Resources/Data/StreamingAssets/aa/StandaloneOSX/ui-newgen-portraits_assets_all.bundle
- In FM26 > Preferences > Detailed > Audio & Visual.
- Check ✅ Show pictures of players (and staff) who have been generated by the game
- Check ✅ Use pre-generated pictures of players (and staff) rather than dynamically-generated images
- Restart Football Manager 26

Yes, me too. I came here seeking a solution

I have an issue with the File Loader. Running it for the first time everything worked fine: all my newgens got faces added and also female staff. I disabled male staff to test it. However now if I run the generator again and add the male faces, the newgens keep their face, but my female staff suddenly reverts to the FM gen faces randomly? Before using the tool, they had the black outline face.
I wonder if this has to do with the fact I also never get the “preserve existing picture assignments message”?

This means the scanner reads PA incorrectly as a very low number, like it thinks it is 2 or 3 or something.
I need to do another go at scanner when I have time. Unfortunatelly for me it looks like I must first reverse engineer a lot more of player profile data (even if I dont need it) to better guess on things that I actually need. I now try to cherry pick things out of the bytes sea and… even if the tool is 99.5% correct on a save of 200 000 newgens it means 1000 of them are wrong. And it is enough to 3 of that 1000 to be on your team for you to notice…
I will se what I can do.

It is now automatically always Preserve, so that message is not needed anymore.
Regarding the missing faces - if you check one or two IDs of the missing people - can you find them via Database tab on the profile page?

Thanks for the quick reply! Checking my U19 players everything seems to be working correctly. However I cannot find a way to display the ID for my generic staff (the ones sending me “emails” that are not in Club Staff page) and journalists.
This issue is specifically affecting them, players and and agents seem to be working. I would not mind as much, if the behaviour was not so baffling because it worked the first time and suddenly it does not?

I have a few players in the Bayern Munich U19 squad who were added via the editor (a file from here). There is now a cut-out available for these players—this one here:
https://sortitoutsi.net/graphics/submissions/collection/57782
I created a config for these players, and they appeared in the game without any issues.
Here's a small excerpt of the config.
<!--Jakob Horvath-->
<record from="2002051274" to="graphics/pictures/person/r-2002051274/portrait"/>
<!--Jonas El Allali-->
<record from="2002051264" to="graphics/pictures/person/r-2002051264/portrait"/>
<!--Kuba Horoszczak-->
<record from="2002051279" to="graphics/pictures/person/r-2002051279/portrait"/>
…
Now my question:
I ran the NG Regens Manager (v 2.2.3) on my save for the first time. Everything worked perfectly. However, the original images of the Bayern U19 players have now been overwritten by players from the NG_Regens pack. This means my config file is no longer being taken into account.
What can I do?
pvt.rylow#6089
rename your folder to start with “z”, folders are loaded in alphabetical oder, so going last means it will always be choosed as source over the rest in case of an ID collision

Genearic staff is a coin flip if they work or not. There is no known to me way to get IDs of them or get to them in any meaningful way to troubleshoot.

Okay, thanks. I'll give that a try.
Two more questions, please:
1.) I created a profile named "Bayern Munich" because I'm currently managing Bayern. If I switch clubs in this save, do I have to create a new profile? Or can I keep using the same profile even though it's named "Bayern" and I'm no longer at the club?
2.) I have to run the Regen Manager again after every new youth intake, right? Do I simply go to the "Generate" section, select "Quick Action," and then click the green button labeled "Generate new images"? That's all there is to it, correct?
Thanks in forward.
