Please allow the option to just have a normal thread. I loathe the current format of either having a blog or this weird topic system which has updates, but they're each separate and they have to be titled. It disrupts the flow. I'm not saying delete the career system you have now, but just make it so that those of us who like the old linear topic system to have that.

Yeah i don't really like having to title every post as if its some kind of big announcement, when in fact its just gonna be something very simply.

Agreed. I mean my career would often have about ten pictures per update, I'd hate to have to make ten posts just for each update, would flood my career.

Hmmm the idea of titling each one is for those people who don't want to read it like a topic, but would rather read it like a blog. What's most annoying about it? I may be completely misunderstanding the problem mind.


For images you can post multiple ones there's an "add another" button. Again unless i'm misunderstanding

The problem is that in the current system, yes each post goes in an linear order from top to bottom, but the way it is set out means every post carries the same gravitas, i.e. it's an update. In reality not every comment I have actually serves anything other than rounding off the career, just a bit of information. By having a comments system for readers, as opposed to directly creating their own posts, it feels disjointed and less like a discussion, which is often the most enjoyable part of the career.

All I would like is for the option to just have the old system as well, of just a standard thread.

Under actions you should be able to add a "comment" instead of a post.

There is "posts" and "comments".

Posts = Full width of page, stand out to show it's an update to the career
Comment = A comment that looks just like one in a topic like this one, suitable for discussion etc.

Again if it could be simpler then let me know, perhaps something like "Career Update" instead of "Post"

EDIT: I may have misunderstood you. I take it your saying you want to be able add comments replying to people etc not always updates to your career.

I just want everything to be the same. So no differentiation between a post, update etc. All the same. Just like it used to be.

If you want to do that then don't add "posts" add comments instead. I mentioned that in the announcement. Of course if you're complaining about reading other people's then I guess everyone can't be pleased but of course if the general consensus is that they hate it then maybe we'll have a rethink.

Will give it a go, then. I'll admit I was frustrated as you predicted some folk would be, particularly as I was keen to keep my BSC challenge going from the old forum but having explained it, I'll give it a shot.
